Beauty Sleep – “All In”

Belfast’s latest indie pop sensation, Beauty Sleep, jolts us from our weekday slumber with their track “All In.” The song wades through deep currents of synth, where echoing percussion, shiny keys and astral guitar lines swoop in to pack a punch. Wingtips – “Last Minute”

In lieu of the approaching millennium and all of its uncertainties, Chicago’s Wingtips draw up a pastel goth rager for the ages in the video for their track “Last Minute.” The plot centers on the unavoidable cyborg takeover and a teenage, hormone-fueled dash to live it up as if there’s no tomorrow. Triumphant waves of 80’s synthpop set the scene with the band front and center, keeping the party alive. It’s all very energetic, playful, and a little spooky, reminiscing an age that the duo was too young to partake in. Their sound revels in souped up synths, waves of guitar, and expressive vocals, all while sporting a soft grunge-meets-Tim-Burton aesthetic. Linn Koch-Emmery – “Forever Sounds”

Faintly melancholic, Linn Koch-Emmery’s single “Forever Sounds” taps into human nature’s nearsightedness over a bedrock of driving guitars and pounding percussion. Cheery pop melodies give the track a sense of buoyancy, while the lyrics are wrapped up in the all-encompassing present. “Forever Sounds” is the premiere single off Koch-Emmery’s debut EP, and sets the tone for HAIM-meets-Courtney Barnett-like breezy, rock-centered vibes. There’s a slow burning element to it; a deep intensity that can be masked by a chirpy chorus or spirited drum beat. In a modern take on experimental electropop, Sweden’s Joakim Alfvén edges into the future with his latest project i see red. His new single “Nothingness” sets the tone with churning synths, impassive vocals, and lofty percussion. Swedish production pair Vargas & Lagola craft a multifaceted dance track through their single “Dolores (The Awakening).” Starting from a refined, tonally dramatic orchestral loop, the track evolves into a playful head-bobber with strategically timed clapping, group vocals, and syncopated guitar. The story of Cold Media’s inception is just about as wholesome as they come. Band members Matt Prodanovich, Addison Smith, and Kyle Cochran started their musical journey together after meeting in songwriting class, and formed a bond crafting feel-good indie pop. Maryland based-Dulio formulates an opus for lost souls in his latest track “Little Yellow Silver.” The brainchild of songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mike Toohey, Dulio’s new single conjures a likeness to an edgier Jack Antonoff-as-Bleachers. It masters radiating synths, moody vocals, and protagonistic guitar lines that give a nod to Toohey’s pop-punk past. Hush Machine – “Batter Up”

College rock project Hush Machine by the hand of Kansas’ Sam Boatright comes wafting through the haze in his latest track “Batter Up.” Hush Machine finds its origins in 2013 when in Boatright’s final years of high school. Through waves of fuzzy vocals, meandering guitar lines, and a supportive bass counterpart, Boatright muses over youthful indiscretions through the use of baseball analogies in “Batter Up”. All this with a sun-soaked tint of summers past where there were minimal worries and nothing but time. Eirik Glambek Bøe’s solo project Kommode opens up shimmering doors of jazz, pop, and new wave in his new track “Fight or Flight or Dance All Night.” A striking electronic/analog hybrid, the track incorporates an array of synths, funk bass, trumpet, and methodical guitar to drive home a unique, toe-tapping sound. He manages to place and grow instrumentation in such a way that the song becomes a journey. Beshken – “The Roman Call”

Stretching his limbs after a brief haitus, Beshken introduces his new project For Time is the Longest Distance Between Two People with the release of the single “The Roman Call.” After experiencing every artist’s worst nightmare in which all of his recordings, hard drive, and lyric journal, among other valuables, were stolen, Ben Shirken made a conscious effort to look at the experience in a positive light, which he then channeled into his latest work. This is the first project that features Beshken’s vocals on all tracks, revealing a further layer of vulnerability as well as ability to adapt. “The Roman Call” is a vivacious mix of dreamy piano lines, groove-laden bass, sharp electronic elements, and serene vocals. With years of hard work lost forever, the only place to go was up, and up Beshken went. Take in his sunny ray of hope below. The Fine Lines – “Wanderlust Kids”

In a brief two and a half minutes New Jersey indie rockers The Fine Lines funnel intrinsic guitar line after guitar line while brooding over the world’s harsh realities in their single “Wanderlust Kids.” Formed by four friends in 2012 at Drew University, the band boasts big name influences like The Beatles, The Strokes, and Brand New. They released their single “Gold” earlier this year, with this track following up in anticipation for their debut EP Palm Tree, released on May 5th. “Wanderlust Kids” is a bright and intricate beacon amidst the masses of spunky indie rock tracks that is sure to leave a mark. London’s electropop quartet Hugh fuels a cozy guitar-synth pairing and magnetic vocals in their single “GO.” In a compelling vocal collaboration with Benin City’s Joshua Idehen, the group channels a style and emotion that brings to mind 80’s pop domination, while still sounding subdued and introspective. Singer Izzy Brooks refers to the track’s inspiration as an initial encounter feeling similar to being submerged. She adds “I remember there was green light flooding in from the surface, my lungs hurt and the excitement was so heavy it almost felt like I couldn’t breathe.
