The Weather Might Say Otherwise – “Statue Of Frogs”

The Weather Might Say Otherwise found their way back on buffaBLOG with their latest offering, “Statue of Frogs.” Coming with a rough and rugged delivery, the Fredonia three-piece rages the faces off of their fans for three and a half short minutes. That being said, there is a really cool breakdown section a little over halfway through the track for all of those in the mosh to collect themselves properly before jumping right back in. To break down the inspiration behind “Statue Of Frogs” Singer Damian Brown talks vividly of his role with drugs and how he depends on them to pull him out of a depressive state, all the while pulling him further into his depressive state. Bedon – “Whoa”

If you like guitar that will cut any negativity out of your life like a butcher knife, then hit up Bedon on his new single “Woah.” The vocals are coated in a layer of distortion that resembles something like a fresh layer of spray paint. The indie rockstar additionally came out with a classic promotional video, to say the least, for “Woah,” reportedly written in one day AND it just so happens to be the first song released by Bedon in two years. It’s evident why the singer/songwriter took his time to deliver his latest track, “Whoa.” Bedon wanted to deliver the perfect introduction to his upcoming sophomore album via Better Company Records… We think he succeeded. Plastic Mermaids – “Disposable Love”

Summer nights, slushies, and red solo cups pretty much sums up Plastic Mermaids smash single “Disposable Love.” With changes in tempo throughout the song, it keeps the listener (and therefore the night) alive. The five-and-a-half minute track manages to go by too fast with all the different sections that you have no choice but to run it back. Plastic Mermaids also gave their fans a whimsical, 90s-themed skating video to compliment the vibes to their new track. The UK five-piece is set to go on their Autumn tour from May to November, so you better stream “Disposable Love” so they can hear you screaming their lyrics. Stream it on Spotify and Apple Music

Midi Memory – “All The Way Out”

The electronic project from Orlando, Florida known as Midi Memory dropped off “All The Way Out” and knocked it all the way out of the park. The drowning reverb on the vocals infused with glittering synths provide a thick shimmering banger of a track. The single is Midi Memory’s debut single under Born Losers Records following their debut album Sensory Overload; are they gearing up to drop another? Stay tuned with Midi Memory, and in the meantime, check out the cool visualizer put out by New Retro Wave on YouTube. Stream it on Spotify and Apple Music

Ek & Horn x MaygenLacey – “Don’t Tell Anybody”

Ek & Horn have proven themselves pioneers of lo-fi funk after teaming up with MaygennLacey on their latest drop, “Don’t Tell Anybody.” The instrumental laid down is riveting to the soul, as well as MaygennLacey’s ever-so-soothing vocals. It’s the perfect song for any rainy day, sunny day, on a drive, on a walk, or even right now after reading the rest of this blog post. One thing is for certain, Ek & Horn are the tectonic shift pushing a wave of their own creation. Stream it on Spotify and Apple Music

Paul Cook & The Chronicles – “Get Along”

It sounds like “Get Along” by Paul Cook & The Chronicles came from a better time due to the fact that it takes me to a better place. Despite the name, Paul Cook & The Chronicles is a solo singer/songwriting musician coming from overseas in London, UK. He somehow manages to nail giving us campfire style guitar strums, killer vocals, AND iconic backing vocals ultimately carrying out the bridge to victory throughout the song. “Get Along” was released on April 8th & is said to be “the first in a slate of new releases for 2022.” Stream it on Spotify and Apple Music  Paul Cook & The Chronicles · Get Along

Ted Tyro – “How Can”

Dreamy luau-like guitar licks surround your head like a merry-go-round on the Louisville, KY band Ted Tyro’s newest release, “How Can.” The bleak, minimalistic cover art allows the listener to summon their own interpretation of the tone being set. Personally, to me it sounds like a band of cowboys riding into area 51; likely from the thick reverb wrapped around the mix. Ted Tyro also secured the opportunity for their new single “How Can” to be premiered on 91.9 WFPK  upon its release on April 8th of 2022, check it out yourself. Stream it on Spotify and Apple Music

Keep Off the Grass – “Two Apartments”

If there was a song to represent the first day of spring or the first night of summer, “Two Apartments” by Keep Off the Grass would be applicable for both. The mountain emo band formed back in 2018, and after dropping five singles throughout the course of the global pandemic, they decided that their fans were ready for their first full length project. Denver, CO is still riding the high off of Keep Off the Grass’s debut album, Here but not There, one of the most potent tracks being the project’s outro: “Two Apartments.” The track tells a tragic story of a falling out between band members separated by a thin apartment wall that you’ll be sure to shed tears to. It’s okay, no one’s watching. Stream it on Spotify and Apple Music  Keep Off the Grass · Two Apartments

Life Stuff – “Finger Gun”

If “Finger Gun” by Life Stuff doesn’t naturally make your head bob, then I would consider getting checked out by a medical professional. The band from Vancouver just dropped their debut album, King Of The Drive Thru, which is full of goodies, but today we’re focusing on the surely underrated “Finger Gun.” The song gives off a discombobulated vibe that makes me feel a little more comfortable in my house of hysteria. It made me wonder what the bands’ take on it was, and this is what they had to say: “The song reflects on how ‘Hollywood -isms’ can infiltrate our life and shape how we are our own journeys.“ Stream it on Spotify and Apple Music

Stray Fossa – “Never Rest For Good”

Based out of Germany, the European three piece Stray Fossa slid by and dropped a gem in our pockets. Their newest song, “Never Rest For Good,” is just shy of five minutes which in terms of running time, I like that a lot more than a two to three minute song (as long as the song is fire of course); Stray Fossa settled for nothing but. Not only did they deliver us music but they gave us a video behind it. Much like the compilation of nature/skating in MONOWHALES’ video for the “New Threads” visual, Stray Fossa gave us something similar with a darker, colder, and more abstract ambience. With their third single “Never Rest For Good” Stray Fossa is gearing up to drop their LP, Closer Than We’ll Ever Know, on June 3rd. MONOWHALES – “New Threads”

The bassline alone on MONOWHALES‘ most recent drop, “New Threads,” is a valid enough reason to throw it on right now. Still not convinced? How about shimmering synths that make you feel like you’re being catapulted to a better place. Or, perhaps you’re more into the bass drops that possess the same anticipation of sitting at the climax of a rollercoaster… Well I have great news, “New Threads” by MONOWHALES has all of that AND a music video consisting of a compilation of some of the coolest scenery you could imagine. From nature clips that look like they were shot by Animal Planet, to vintage skateboarding clips that could be used for lofi loops, and just about everything in between… Get yourself some “New Threads” Stream it on Spotify and Apple Music Watch it on YouTube MONOWHALES · New Threads

Burn the Louvre – “Alison”

What’s better than an indie group from Hamilton, ON? This particular Canadian duo by the badass name, Burn the Louvre, accompanied by singer/songwriter Stephanie Deshane. They managed to put together a light-hearted love story revolving around a girl named “Alison,” who (after listening to the song) I’m sure you’ve met before… Or maybe it was an Allan. Regardless, this person is supposed to represent someone/something that leaves as fast as it came into your life. But “Alison” metamorphoses the experience into a feeling of appreciation that it happened, rather than sadness that it’s over. Stream it on Spotify and Apple Music Alison (feat. French Alps Tiger – “Lost Boys”

French Alps Tiger is quite the slacker rock, surf-punk four-piece, and their fifth single, “Lost Boys,” is the only proof you need. Their double-single that dropped on March 30th of 2022 features title track “Lost Boys,” along with previous single “Punch in the Bowl.” French Alps Tiger embellished their vision on “Lost Boys” with a music video, shot entirely within a car in the night time, with cool color schemes and relatable content. In the words of French Alps Tiger : “Lost Boys’ is a razor sharp, white knuckle, dirty bomb, from the east side of The Costa Del Swan.” I’m not sure what that means, but I sure want to find out. Doom Mutual – “For Now”

Daphne Browdy and Davis Gestie, also known as Doom Mutual, put together a gorgeous piece of work with their latest single “For Now.” Representing the darker side of Nashville, Tennessee, their harmonies over one another are intoxicatingly enchanting to the ears. The rock-hard electric guitar blends surprisingly well with the softer acoustic moments. “For Now” is only Doom Mutual’s second single, released on all platforms April 7th of 2022, and they already sound like bonafide alt rock all stars. Pentire – “Watch Time With Me”

Hailing all the way from Herefordshire, England, the four-piece known as Pentire came through our inbox with their new smash, “Watch Time With Me.” The song is three minutes of smooth bass and vibrato-filled vocals laid over righteously nostalgic and emotion-packed indie guitar licks… and lets not forget the perfectly timed percussion. “Watch Time With Me” also comes with a music video that depicts the concept behind the song in a gloomy, while somehow heartwarming fashion. Pentire has a gig coming up on May 5th at Thelka in Bristol, so if you’re overseas, show your support in-person. And if not… Stream it on Spotify and Apple Music
