The production over the track sounds something like Toy Story met up with Tyler the Creator and they made a classic soundtrack. “Modern Goodbyes” is smooth yet heavy hitting on all aspects from the instrumental, the vox, the lyrics down to the delivery of the concept itself. “Modern Goodbyes” is a song you play after letting go of someone you love for their sake over yours. New York-based act Bindy slunk into our inbox with the haunting slow burn of their latest single, “Bathtub.” The song is a metaphorical look at being in a funk, carried by singer Francesca “Bindy” Craft’s aloof-but-applicable vocal styling, matched perfectly with the intricate-but-tasteful guitar and bass that slither in a coiled-up way, like a snake that’s been fully charmed. The song explores things we turn to in times of discomfort, like the warm hug of a bathtub; they eventually become a crutch that’s far too difficult to walk away from. Created 100% at home, the band’s sincere delivery isn’t undercut by any sort of DIY-production value (it sounds pretty perfect actually, well done Palomino!) – this one will sit nicely on any playlist that gets your blood pumping. Des Moines-based duo elison caught our ears with their recently-released single, “Covered Me.” The shoegaze-meets-indie-rock-meets-dream-pop tune is full of tasty guitar tones, a hazy vocal presence, and an impending sense of urgency that inspires feelings of longing and bittersweet realizations. About the song, the duo says: “‘Covered Me’ is about coming to the realization that, while in a relationship with a narcissist, you don’t really know the person you’re with.
