Eldoradio – “China House”

Swedish band Eldoradio dropped “China House” to promote their upcoming album. The single is from the band’s debut album 21st Century Explosive Sound, coming out in the summer from Welfare Sounds & Records. Fresh off a festival gig at the NGOM Festival in Kosovo on July 7, the band is continuing to work on their craft. Catchy, rapid-fire guitar riffs create an upbeat background for the song. The lyrics and vocals add to the same upbeat style that the instrumentals bring. Check out “China House” below via SoundCloud.

Sundaes – “Everything”

Nashville-based Sundaes released “Everything” as a part of their self-titled EP that came out on March 22. The band made their impact right away with two sold out shows at Chelsea Hotel Storefront Gallery in New York. A mellow guitar riff carries into the falsetto vocals. Towards the chorus, the guitar sets off on its own adventure, reminiscent of the blues style guitar of the ‘60s. Shorts – “Sun Dogs”

Melbourne, Australia-based band Shorts released “Sun Dogs,” the second single from their debut EP Something Else. The song originally came as a completed instrumental from guitarist Armarin Saengsri, but needed some type of lyrics to complete the song. Vocalist Lachlan Bradford took some of his notes from his time in Canada working in a gondola hut to add to the track. Justin Jay – “Can’t Hang”

Rising star in the electronic community Justin Jay ties in elements of soul and funk to his line of house music, highlighted in his new track “Can’t Hang.” In a little over five minutes, the song unravels layers of instrumentals while working through a lyrical mantra. Sending waves of synth and crisp percussion our way, this single sets the ideal soundtrack for a summer of staying cool and letting go.  Written in a bout of catharsis, Jay says “These days, I frequently find myself getting overwhelmed, stressed out, or disenchanted about things. It’s easy to get negative and divisive, but that’s where I think music can be so powerful and important. It brings people together and makes us feel good. Hills – “Push It”

Hills grace us with yet another jam-worthy single from their album Satellite. “Push It” is a roaring composition, featuring layers of brass, ethereal synths, fuzz guitars, and a thundering bass line. Known for their conglomerate of sound, this single highlights the alt-rock side of Hills, while still holding true to frontman Aaron Zachary’s folksy twang. Citing influence in music icons from Jonny Cash to George Martin and the Beatles, Hills lie somewhere on the spectrum between alternative, country, rock, and folk, tying in the best of each genre for a whirlwind of sound and a striking story. Gold Class – “Twist In The Dark”

Australian four-piece Gold Class spearhead the release of their second album with their single “Twist In The Dark.” The track is a punk-fueled act of defiance, lending to the album’s overarching theme of resisting the norm and the expectations attached to it. Serving up heavy guitar melodies, powerful vocals, and raging drum lines, “Twist In The Dark” is fiery to say the least, set ablaze with pent-up frustrations and feelings of detachment. The band has been known to cover similarly arduous topics like politics, sexuality, and identity, culminating over the years since their 2014 inception. Wy – “What Would I Ever Do”

In a raw and exposing arrangement, Wy’s latest single “What Would I Ever Do” redefines self discovery in its most vulnerable form. The indie pop duo set the soundscape with echoing rhythm guitar, rippling synths, and moody vocal melodies. Taking up a similar sound to Lorde, The 1975, and Wet, this track exudes emotion from the first phrase to its highest falsetto-fueled peak. Its momentum is subtle but driving – a sad pop ballad to last you on loop for days. midnight Drops New Single “Promethium”

Rochester R&B crooner midnight delves into the topic of Greek mythology through the release of his new single “Promethium.” In the singer’s new song, midnight brings up the Prometheus myth as a source of inspiration for the song. His gift comes as both a blessing and a curse because he must suffer for others. There is a complexity to the track with each beat layered over each other. Dreamy Buffalo-based producer ylxr brings an atmospheric style to the track with the spacey synths and slow snaps. Check out “Promethium” below via soundcloud.

Bleach Dream – “Drown in Colours”

Back from a break from their music, Melbourne-based Bleach Dream released the second single “Drown in Colours,” off their forthcoming album Saudade, due out in August. Marty Greensill and Dave O’Kane originally gave up their dreams of a music career to pick up full-time work, but a few weekends playing together led to the inception of Bleach Dream. Placing an emphasis on the guitar work, the song has few lyrics that come as faded falsetto. The dreamy guitars come as the focus of the song with each playing back and forth from one another. Magdalena Bay – “Drive Alone”

Indie pop duo Magdalena Bay have been known to dazzle the streaming world, and their latest single, “Drive Alone,” is sure to be no exception. In a flurry of cavernous synths, syncopated rhythm guitar, and a propelling beat, the dialogue between Mica Tenenbaum’s sultry vocals and Matthew Lewin’s dreamy choruses ensues. The result is instantly electrifying. Longtime bandmates, the two reunited to form Magdalena Bay after two years apart. Their musical connection is clearly palpable, forming the ideal soundtrack for midnight adventures or a night on the town. Baba Sonya – “Bones”

Songwriting duo Baba Sonya brew some stark imagery and enduring melodies in their track “Bones.” Canvasing a full range of tonalities and emotions, the musical stylings of Rachel Gawell and Mike Costaney span from soothing acoustics to brooding electropop to emo rock angst. This track is all about contrast, meeting Gawell’s quelling with Costaney’s fiery vocals, which makes it all the more memorable. “Bones” is the premiere track off Baba Sonya’s latest EP Probably. Quality Living – “Oh No”

DIY indie rockers Quality Living grace the world with their latest single “Oh No” as an ode to the band’s basement show beginnings. Featuring bright guitar lines, playful electronic elements, sharp percussion and an unforeseen trumpet solo, the track gives nods to the group’s home grown New Jersey roots. It’s just about as feel-good as it gets, laced with a hint of nostalgia and guaranteed to garner a few head-bobs in the process. Thankfully, more new content is just around the corner as Quality Living is set to release a series of singles via Sniffling Indie Kids throughout the year. Jane Machine – “I Hope We Win”

Jane Machine draws up some of her patented brooding electropop for her single “I Hope We Win.” The brainchild of triple threat songwriter/producer/musician Erica von Trapp, Jane Machine brings to light a personal catharsis, while coalescing inspiration from her formative years. Honing in on pulsing synths, swirling vocals, and a rolling beat, the track conveys a feeling of detachment. With striking lines like “Another would say it’s off / I’m crawling inside because I’m soft” von Trapp knows how to hit right between the ribs, but still make it danceable. Rare Monk – “Happy Haunting”

Portland, Oregon indie collective Rare Monk dropped “Happy Haunting” due off their full-length album A Future, coming out July 7th. Shifting from a five-piece band to a four-piece band, the band had to make some big changes with sound, focusing more on guitars with the loss of the violin. The song gains some punch with this tactic and pairs well with the falsetto vocals. Going into death, the vocals dig deep at finding a way out of humanity’s doom. Eddy I. – “Unapologetic”

Staten Island-based Eddy I. turns up the heat with his new single “Unapologetic.” Coming as the first single from Eddy I. since he’s started battle rapping, he shifts more towards verse-based rapping from freestyling. The up and coming emcee still brings some of his characteristics from battle rapping to the track. He brings a high intensity with his verses that is matched with the beat. Producer J.
