At long last, Buffalo-based quintet Post Prom have delivered their debut LP, Who You Pretend To Be (WYPTB), and it was well worth the wait. They provide an infectious boost of energy that makes you want to jump up on your coffee table and dance. The kind of music you would have heard in the backseat of your parents car in the late 90s. A powerful blend of rock, emo, and pop-punk flavors that bring us back to the late nights spent with friends or family in the garage – pure nostalgia. The band themselves describe WYPTB as a “coming of age story,” and their blend of crunchy guitars, relatable lyrics, and memorable melodies tell that tale perfectly. Tonight: Canetis EP Release

Tonight, make your way on down to the Rec Room to catch one of Buffalo’s newest up-and-coming acts as they celebrate the release of some new music. Canetis, a group of young heavy-hitters, just released their first EP entitled Putting Time Together, a five-song collection that perfectly blends alt and indie-rock goodness. Canetis has been making a name for themselves lately, so make sure to catch them as they surely won’t disappoint. Joining them on stage this evening is Buffalo heavy hitters Post Prom, and if you haven’t heard of these guys by now, tonight is the perfect opportunity to see what everyone’s been talking about. The early 2010’s were a wild time for local music here in Buffalo, New York. It seems as if almost overnight, everyone you knew was in a band, and odds are they were pretty talented. You could spend pretty much every weekend at either Mohawk Place or Waiting Room (RIP) for a mind-blowing musical experience. One of the bands responsible for this cultural explosion was Buffalo’s own Pentimento. Shortly after forming, they quickly gained a following, were at the top of their game, and wore both their hometown, and their hearts on their sleeves as they helped put Buffalo’s emerging scene on the map. Post Prom – Nothing Left for Us

Summer has officially hit in western New York and that means it’s time to dust off those songs to soundtrack your solstice. Luckily enough for you, Buffalo rockers Post Prom just dropped a new EP that captures that warm weather vibe, and epitomizes the phrase “windows down, music up.” The album Nothing Left For Us features six pop-punky songs that solidify the groups reputation as some of Buffalo’s premiere rockers. The record opens up with the energetic and hook-laden “Tunnel Vision”. That energy carries through “Tiger Beer,” where guitarist and vocalist Aidan Licker laments the loss of a friend who has moved to another city, while celebrating all the precious memories they have together. Local indie-pop-punkers Post Prom recently debuted a brand new single titled “Hurt Somebody.” The band gave the song the full GCR treatment, working with local engineer/mastermind Jay Zubricky to bring it to life. On “Hurt Somebody,” the quintet has continued to refine their brand of emotive vocals with a triad of impressively nimble guitar (yes, there’s three of them!) and bass work. Tonight: Super American

Genre-defying (but poppy af) duo Super American are wrapping up 2018 with a great show at a great venue. Their latest album Tequila Sunrise is a fun amalgamation of pop, indie, emo, and the 1990s, finding catharsis through the songwriting lens of giants like Third Eye Blind, Oasis, and Blink 182. Joining them tonight are the fellow pop punk/emo greats in Post Prom and West Ferry. Tonight’s show is at Lockhouse Distillery & Bar, in Buffalo’s beautiful cobblestone district. Post Prom – Changing Weather

It’s mid-February, and winter should be in full force here in Buffalo… Instead we’ve been subjected to wild temperature changes and bizarre precipitation – topical, especially in the case of Buffalonian quartet Post Prom. Their debut EP, Changing Weather, came out earlier this month, and whether it was intentional or not, CW certainly lives up to its name. Last summer, the band was hard at work writing; they recorded the EP in the autumn and finally released it in the winter… All in all, these songs document the evolution of a new band across the changing seasons, and now, it’s our Album of the Week. Post Prom Releases Debut Music Video for “Cyclical”

Newly-minted Buffalo quartet Post Prom just released a music video for their debut single, “Cyclical.” The video features a cameo from fellow Buffalonian Elliott Douglas (who you may recognize from MAGS), and is a simple but poignant demonstration of how one’s day-to-day life might begin to seem, well, “cyclical.” Most importantly, “Cyclical” is a great introduction to Post Prom’s cathartic blend of pop-punk and emo, combining a unique 3/4 time signature with heartfelt vocal harmonies and twangy guitars. Cooler at Mohawk Place (1/12/18)

Despite the frigid winter storm raging outside that evening, Mohawk Place was absolutely brimming with excitement for Cooler’s EP Release Show on January 12th. Playing to a hometown crowd of their friends, family, and peers, Cooler opened their set with stripped-down renditions of fan favorites, before premiering new material from their latest Admirable Traits release, Buried EP, the band’s first as a trio. By dialing down the “phantom phuzz” that characterized their earlier music, Cooler emphasized the heartfelt songwriting, cathartic hooks, and taut musicianship that forms the essential core of their sound, played onstage with raging intensity and emotional conviction. Tonight: Cooler EP Release Show

With their high-level energy and expertly crafted melodies at the ready, alternative rock three-piece Cooler will be performing tonight to a hometown crowd at Buffalo’s historic venue Mohawk Place on 47 Mohawk St., heralding in the release of the band’s new EP entitled Buried. Over the course of the show’s suspected five-hour runtime, Cooler will be joined by fellow Buffalo-based rock acts Post Prom, Into the Wake and Honey COMA. The show starts at 8 p.m. It will allow entry for those 18 or above with proper identification and parental guidance if younger.
