Dr. Ooo Premieres New Malt Disney Directed Clip

One of the blog’s favorite Buffalo MCs, the now Brooklyn residing Dr. Ooo (or Drew Aintworriedboutnuthin Hartman to his friends), has released the new music video for his track “Comfy.” Directed by Malt Disney, frequent collaborator of the Toats Orig Crew and Jact Toft, the clip finds Hartman strolling around Chinatown channeling his inner foodie and hitting up some markets. The track appears to be a part of an upcoming project called Canary Yellow, so keep your eyes peeled for further details. You can watch “Comfy” below.

New Visuals from Local Rap Trio Nameless

Coming off of the Walking on Water EP that dropped back in March is Niagara Falls trio Nameless’ hard hitting track “Milli.” After an intro from the EP’s opening track, the dreamier “In The Air,” the mood switches to the hard-hitting “Milli.” With a backdrop of some gritty western New York scenery, each of the group’s members gets a verse over some pretty dope, murky production. Highlight lines include “I tried to keep it modest but it simply wasn’t honest, what you think I hustle hard for, I studied Reaganomics.” from the second emcee of the group and “Hi Mom, drugs are awesome, so damn high I bet I could Moss em’,” from the third guy rocking the ski mask. I can’t figure out their individual names, but with the name ‘Nameless,’ I think that’s the point. Check it out .

Elton John and System of a Down – “Crocodile Chop”

This week, much like every other week in the 21st century, genius hit the internet with Neil Cicierega’s mismatched mashup titled “Crocodile Chop.” The reworked single is a blend of Elton John’s campy “Crocodile Rock” with System of a Down’s cringey “Chop Suey.” The video, for those of you who didn’t go to high school, consists of leadman Serj Tankian acting zaney  while sharing the stage with edgiest man/guitarist in 2002 Daron Malakian along with a backing by ultra-piano pop Elton Jon ivories. This has been stuck in my head for close to 24 hours so be careful with this one.

Wild Cub – “Colour”

Wild Cub dropped the video for it’s second single, “Colour,’ off the band’s debut album, Youth (Mom + Pop). “Colour” is the follow-up to the band’s winter sleeper jam, “Thunder Clatter” and is already making moves to outshine their introduction. The video features groups of early 20somethings tripling up in the backseat, skateboarding, and practicing in empty rooms. It is almost as if this is the 2014 daytime follow-up to Smashing Pumpkin’s “1979.” The song is both circular and hypnotic, with TV on the Radio-like chanting, Foals-y guitars, and a Twin Shadow-esque delivery. Currently on tour with Vampire Weekend, this Nashville quintet is sure to make a spot on your summer playlist. Check out the video below.

Damon Albarn – “Heavy Seas of Love”

Right now, for my money, the only track that comes close to The War on Drugs’ amazing “Red Eyes” single is “Heavy Seas of Love” from Blur frontman Damon Albarn. Taken from his forthcoming, and from the sounds of it, pretty incredible Everyday Robots LP (4/29), the track has one of those reach for the sky choruses that I love so much, along with additional vocals from Brian Eno. Earlier today, the song’s accompanying video, all shot via an iPad, was released. Its a sort of travelogue clip with slight touches of trippiness mixed in to make you wonder if its all just a dream. Keep an eye out for our upcoming review of Everyday Robots, and in the mean time, watch the video for “Heavy Seas of Love” below.

Chuckie Campbell Reps The 716 In “Synesthesia” Video

Southern transplant Chuckie Campbell showcases the city like a lifelong native in the Buffalo in black and white is anything but video for “Synesthesia.” Synesthesia, (I borrowed this from Wiki) is a neurological phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway. I know, right? Basically, it’s like if you look at a letter, you’ll see a color and different letters have different colors. This is one of the more common occurrences, but overall one sense is linked to another in some undefinable way, as the experience varies from synesthete to synesthete. Yes, that’s what they are called. The track, which comes from his critically acclaimed album, More Die of Heartbreak, is deeply personal and lyrically hard-hitting in an almost soft-spoken way. If Mackelmore had street cred, “Same Love” might have sounded a bit more like this,[...]

The Teen Age – “Sleep Alone”

This week, IMPOSE Magazine debuted the latest music video from Brooklyn-based indie rockers, The Teen Age. The video for “Sleep Alone” follows leadman Matthew Degorio and his week-long bender ensuring that he will not, for lack of a better description, sleep alone. Degorio manages to encounter some of the scenarios that we all face; enticing beautiful women home night after night, chasing shots with beers, and stumbling into aggressive bros. “Sleep Alone” is the first single from the band’s upcoming  EP titled Ways to Adapt (Papercup Music). Passion in Constellation Releases Music Video for “Weird Tonight”

Simply put, Passion in Constellation will expand your connotation of the word “weird,” which according to Chris Alan (the artist behind PIC), is a state of mind that should be fully embraced to it’s second exponent. Let’s get weird squared is more like it and this video release can be viewed as a solid introduction the concept. In a world governed by a policy of weird squared, judgment is out of question. Still, any semblance of proper etiquette could potentially be scoffed at. You’re encouraged to fling around all the food in your pantry like confetti and if you don’t know by now, balloon animals are awesome and trending. Your living room has disappeared and in it’s place is outer-space. Also, though you’ve probably gone as far to romanticize the idea of traveling via horseback once or twice in your recent adult life, you haven’t even touched on the idea of[...]

Adanowsky – “Dancing to the Radio”

Adanowsky recently dropped last month the highly catchy single for his first album in English,  ADA. “Dancing to the Radio” has a knack for staying in your head. The song is part Falco/part Empire of the Sun/all JAM. If Holy Ghost took themselves less seriously and embraced glam-pop, this easily could be their next single. Check out the video plucked straight from the 80’s below.

Sleepy Hahas Debut Lesionread Directed Music Video

Just yesterday, Buffalo garage rock foursome, Sleepy Hahas, debuted the music video for their heavy new single “I Hate My Body (and It Hates Me Too),” taken from the band’s forthcoming LP, Dull Days. The trippy clip, directed by Shawn Lewis aka Lesionread, would be a perfect way to spend a few mins during an upcoming shroom trip. The band will be celebrating the release of Dull Days on Friday, May 16th at Buffalo Iron Works. Full show details can be found here. Watch the video for “I Hate My Body (and It Hates Me Too)” below.
