After a rain soaked Lafeyette Square washed out her last last area show, alt-country queen Neko Case will finally be back in town on Saturday, February 27th at Babeville’s Asbury Hall. Last month, the long time spit fire and New Porngraphers member released a remastered, career spanning box set Truckdriver Gladiator Mule, a vinyl collection of her eight studio recordings, including her early work with backing her backing band, Her Boyfriends. Let’s not let that happen again. Tickets go on sale on Thursday, December 18th, for $16.

Just Announced: The Mountain Goats

At this point last week, we were a little worried about our event calendar going into 2016. It was looking pretty sparse heading into the new year with less than ten events  on our radar. This is rapidly changing this week with the announcements of some real heavy hitters – Mac Sabbath, Bruce Springsteen, Deer Tick, and now hyper-literate indie folk veterans, The Mountain Goats. On Wednesday, April 6th, the trio is set to perform at Asbury Hall with 7pm doors. Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10am on TicketWeb.

Just Announced: Deer Tick

Minutes ago, The Tralf announced that on Saturday, March 19th, Providence-based rollicking alt-country act, Deer Tick, will be headlining a stripped down show in continued support of their latest album, Negativity. This will be more of a minimalist show (acoustic) so keep that in mind. We suggest grabbing a table quick. Tickets go on sale Friday via TicketMaster and are $20 presale.

If you are looking to party this holiday season, then look no further to…Broadway Joe’s? Yes, everyone’s favorite University Heights haunt will be hosting cult leader / party legend, Andrew W.K. In a freshly  announced event this afternoon, the rock and roller announced he will be making a solo stop in Western New York on Tuesday, December 7th. If you’ve seen Andrew W.K. in the past as a full-band, his solo shows are still a party, just with only one person on the stage. This will be W.K.’s  the 8th annual Christmas show and since he is immortal, maybe it will be the first of many. Tickets are available at Ticket Fly for $25 and you should probably get them soon. We predict a sellout.

Just Announced: twenty one pilots

Despite not knowing for sure if concerts will even be happening at Canalside next summer, promoters and talent buyers are moving until told otherwise by the Common Council and have booked alt radio mainstays twenty one pilots to play the waterfront venue on Tuesday, June 21st. The Columbus pair’s Buffalo visit will be one of the non-free, potentially soon-to-over Thursday at Canalside shows. While I support shows remaining at Canalside, if the Common Council wants to find some kind of middle ground and move this one as far away from the city as possible, then where can I sign up to help scout new locations? Tickets go on sale this Friday, October 30th, for $30.50. If spending over $30 to catch this group is up your alley, god bless you,

Just Announced: Dr. Dog

After a handful of memorable area appearances over the years, including a eulogizing set for Mohawk Place a couple years back, the Philadelphia based, Queen City loved psych-folk rockers, Dr. Dog, will be once again gracing the stage of Town Ballroom, this time on Wednesday, March 9th. While the band does not have a new record under its belt (at least yet) to tour on, the group did release its first live album, Live at a Flamingo Hotel, earlier this year, so if you have yet to catch Dr. Dog’s raucous, and sometimes shriek inducing, live show, that would be a good place to start. Tickets will go on sale this Friday, October 23rd, at noon for $25.

Just Announced: George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic

Legendary soul/funk innovator George Clinton will land the Parliament Funkadelic Mothership onto the Town Ballroom stage for a ridiculous, one-night-only event on Sunday, November 22nd. I don’t need to give a history lesson on Clinton, the definitive artist of the funk movement, and his P Funk All Stars, as if you are reading this post, you should know the deal by now. What you do need to know is that tickets go on sale this Friday, October 9th, at noon for $30 in advance/$35 day of. I wouldn’t expect that day of price to really be needed…

Just Announced: Joanna Newsom

As she preps the release of the much awaited follow up to her critically praised album Have One on Me, beguiling folk singer Joanna Newsom has announced a fall tour that will include a stop at Babeville’s Asbury Hall on Sunday, December 13th. The harp player is set to drop her latest album Divers on October 23rd, so expect some road testing of the record when the storyteller takes the stage. And with Sleater-Kinney and Waxahatchee also set to play Babeville this December, the Delaware venue appears set to end 2015 on a major high note. Tickets will go on sale this Friday, October 9th at 10am for $30 in advance, $35 day of. Alela Diane and Newsome collaborator Ryan Francesconi will provide support.

Just Announced: buffaBLOG Presents Halloween w/ Soul Patch

buffaBLOG is pumped to announce our second annual Halloween party, teaming up once again with local 90’s alt-rock cover band, Soul Patch, and buzzing indie rock newcomers, Sixties Future, on Friday, October 30th at Mohawk Place. Expect a riotous night filled with zany costumes, debauchery, and losing your voice screaming along with some of the very best(?) songs from two decades ago. Pre-sale tickets can currently purchased here, and it might be a good idea to grab one ahead of time: last year’s Hamlin House party sold out, so don’t sleep on this.
