Thursday, March 20th @ 8pm Kenzie Cait @ Rec Room   Erie County repatriate/Nashville-based emerging sad girlie act Kenzie Cait will be returning to the stage on Thursday. After an impressive showing last summer with her gig at Buffalo Iron Works, the city was clamoring to see the buzzing pop singer/songwriter return. Cait’s sound is familiar, as it would nestle nicely on a playlist with Taylor Swift’s later repertoire, Olivia Rodrigo, or even Chappell Roan.   Ultimately. Friday, January 17th @ 8pm Captain Tom & the Hooligans @ Molly Maguires   Buffalo’s #1 polka band under sixty years old will play a fun one at one of South Buffalo’s finest dive bars on Friday. If you aren’t familiar, Captain Tom & the Hooligans exploded onto the scene post-Covid, sharing the stage with both punk rock bands and old time Polish journeymen, gaining fans along the way with their re-imaginative spin on polka classics. They’ve hit the local market pretty heavily over the past couple of years and you may have encountered the band inadvertently on their circuit of community festivals, breweries and one-offs. Perpetually-whirring Buffalo shoegazers Elemantra are back with a fresh new single, “The Problem.” Their impeccable pedalboard curation is on full display here, ranging everywhere from ghostly clean guitars to monstrous blasts of fuzz. Elemantra’s patented brand of all-consuming ambiance is on full display here, lush with nimble basslines, tight drumming, and those far-off vocals that make your favorite ‘gazers sound so mysterious – think Slowdive or MBV. Saturday, 9/14 @ 7pm Elemantra w/ Patchwork @ Black Dots The west side is set to host a double banger with locals Elemantra and Patchwork this Saturday night at one of Buffalo’s best record stores. The lineup consists of two locals at the top of Buffalo’s indie scene. Elemantra may be up your alley if you are a fan of a shoeagaze-y Mew meets Slowdive vibes, while Patchwork will impress followers of the 90’s college radio scene. Elemantra Drops Live Sessions EP

Local indie rockers Elemantra are back with their first collection of new tunes in two years with G Camp Live Sessions. Recorded and filmed last fall while camping Seneca Allegheny Territory, the 3-track EP finds the Salamanca foursome continuing to mine the early emo / post-rock / shoegaze  hybrid sound that has made them a favorite of this blog.  The group’s range – from delicate melodies to crescendoing riffs – should appeal to fans of Hum and Sunny Day Real Estate. All of the songs are accompanied by a live, river-backed clip, a nice reminder that the best season in WNY is right around the corner. The audio files can all be found on the band’s Spotify. Tonight: Canetis EP Release

Tonight, make your way on down to the Rec Room to catch one of Buffalo’s newest up-and-coming acts as they celebrate the release of some new music. Canetis, a group of young heavy-hitters, just released their first EP entitled Putting Time Together, a five-song collection that perfectly blends alt and indie-rock goodness. Canetis has been making a name for themselves lately, so make sure to catch them as they surely won’t disappoint. Joining them on stage this evening is Buffalo heavy hitters Post Prom, and if you haven’t heard of these guys by now, tonight is the perfect opportunity to see what everyone’s been talking about. Elemantra Releases Trippy Music Video for “Such Tiny Fish”

Salamanca quartet Elemantra channel the spirit of post-rock bands like Sense Field and Appleseed Cast and mix it with an alternative 90s sound that evokes Smashing Pumpkins and Sunny Day Real Estate. Their latest release is the full-length To Know Better, which features the single, “Such Tiny Fish.” In the seven-plus minute song, the group spans the gamut from riff-rock to subtle ambiance, accompanied by a soothing (and vaguely trippy) music video featuring a serene aquarium. Elemantra aims to please, and there is certainly something here for everyone – check out the music video below. Elemantra’s debut album, To Know Better, is available now on Bandcamp.

Is your Monday in need of a little color? These gray skies have a stranglehold on your morale, you say? Well I’ve got your remedy right here: Atsuko Chiba. The Montreal outfit specializes in dark and gripping experimental prog rock similar to what you’d hear from a collaboration between Mogwai, Balance & Composure, and Pink Floyd, and the quintet is hitting Buffalo’s Dreamland tonight to clear up your Monday blues. Not only will Chiba make your ears happy, but they’ll satisfy your eyes with their live show, which “aims to create immersive sensorial environments by combining sound-based creative practices and live visuals,” according to their bandcamp. Check out the live studio session below and see for yourself. Rounding out tonight’s bill: post-rock tourmates Au Revoir, and locals Elemantra, Slow Cooker, and LA Times. Show starts promptly at 7:30pm with a suggested donation of $5.
