Must See Shows (9/11/24-9/17/24)
Saturday, 9/14 @ 7pm
Elemantra w/ Patchwork @ Black Dots
The west side is set to host a double banger with locals Elemantra and Patchwork this Saturday night at one of Buffalo’s best record stores. The lineup consists of two locals at the top of Buffalo’s indie scene. Elemantra may be up your alley if you are a fan of a shoeagaze-y Mew meets Slowdive vibes, while Patchwork will impress followers of the 90’s college radio scene. Both bands are worth the field trip and it’s just $10 to support local artists.

Pile w/ Oceanator @ Buffalo Iron Works
It’ll be a Monday night ripper with the return of Boston’s Pile to the 716. The heavy hitting act will be debuting at the highest capacity venue they’ve played in the city, coming a long way from the days of playing on Niagara Street at Ocean Garden Oriental Foods (next door to what was formerly Sugar City). Pile is one of those bands that is your favorite musician’s favorite musician, with complicated instrumentals, free flow lyrics, and is an overall rollercoaster of crescendos and pull backs. They are one-of-a-kind and have inspired numerous projects and off-shoots, remaining an influence to many in 2024’s indie rock scene.
First on deck will be Oceanator, who are touring in support of their new album Everything is Love and Death out everywhere via Polyvinyl Records. Tickets are $18 pre-fees.
Tuesday, September 17th @ 7pm
Spoon w/ A Giant Dog @ Electric City
Austin, Texas rock ‘n roll outfit Spoon returns to the Queen City mid-week for what is undoubtedly one of the last bangs of Brat summer. Since forming in 1993, the band has ten albums under their belt and has continuously been a festival go-to throughout the past twenty years. The quartet delivers an earworm heavy repertoire, melding elements of indie, post punk, and art rock all in one sing-a-long-able package.
Opening the evening is A Giant Dog, who are returning to Buffalo for the first time since 2016’s Mohawk Place gig w/ JOHNS and Uniform OPR. The band shares a slot on Merge Records roster alongside Spoon, Titus Andronicus, and The New Pornographers. A Giant Dog’s sound is raucous, energetic, and mesmerizing all at once. Fans of Screaming Females or Sheer Mag should show up early and take up some space towards the front. Tickets are somewhere in between $42 and $80, plus fees of course.
