Zach Schimpf – “The Future Is Shiny”

In thick fog of blossoming synths, sharp drum beats, and melodically robotic vocals, producer Zach Schimpf depicts the impending present tense in recent single “The Future Is Shiny.” The St. Louis native found his start at the early age of 13 after being gifted his first audio recorder, and since then has dabbled in a multitude of bands, projects, and songwriting endeavors. Now the electronic soundscaper has honed his sound, culminating years of audio experience in his upcoming seventh full length release. Dulio – “Little Yellow Silver”

Maryland based-Dulio formulates an opus for lost souls in his latest track “Little Yellow Silver.” The brainchild of songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mike Toohey, Dulio’s new single conjures a likeness to an edgier Jack Antonoff-as-Bleachers. It masters radiating synths, moody vocals, and protagonistic guitar lines that give a nod to Toohey’s pop-punk past. The track lyrically ventures into self-deprecating territory, while managing to hold onto a glimmer of hope at the end of the chorus with “But if I just can’t follow through / Would you promise that I still have you.” Find more like “Little Yellow Silver” on Dulio’s recently released self-titled EP, available on cassette via Prince George Records. Benny the Jet x Jazz Ingram – “Mr. Krabs”

Fresh off the release of his Baby New Year’s EP, Jazz Ingram brings the heat with his new single “Mr. Krabs.” Originally from Rochester, NY, Ingram is currently based out of Atlanta, GA. The single is a change from the EP as Ingram speeds it up and goes away from a laid-back style of rap. Benny the Jet brings a heavy bass and rapid snare to the trap beat to back Ingram’s speedy verses. The song title refers to Mr. Krabs from SpongeBob SquarePants, who has an affinity to money like Ingram describes throughout the track. The song breaks down with a slowly sung autotuned part by Ingram. Check out the video for “Mr. Krabs” below.

Das Mörtal – “Midnight Rendez-Vous (feat. French Fox)”

“Midnight Rendez-Vous” has been described as “a dark ballad for the unloved” and we couldn’t agree more. The brainchild of Canadian producer Das Mörtal, “Midnight Rendez-Vous” has the familiar thump of an electronica song with a dark and gloomy twist. It’s truly brought to life via vocalist French Fox and his irresistible goth-on-the-dancefloor lyrics. Add it to your Spotify playlist if you’re feeling froggy.

Pray For Sound – “Everywhere, Everywhere”

Pray For Sound in an instrumental post-rock project spearheaded by mastermind Bruce Malley. They sent us over their new video for “Everywhere, Everywhere” and we liked it enough to suggest it to our loyal followers. As with any instrumental project, it’s best to let the music speak for itself, but fans of Explosions in the Sky, Sigur Ros, or even ambient pop rock bands a la The Dangerous Summer might will like this one. Check out the video below.

Grace Mitchell – “Now”

The genre defying anthem “Now” drifted into our inbox recently and we’ve been jamming on it ever since. “Now” comes from Grace Mitchell, a 19-year-old iconoclast from Portland. She combines lilting piano-driven verses with more aggressive guitar-driven choruses for a sound all her own. Fans of Florence and the Machine, Feist, or Yeah Yeah Yeahs will dig this one. Check out Grace’s Tumblr while you’re at it.

Hush Machine – “Batter Up”

College rock project Hush Machine by the hand of Kansas’ Sam Boatright comes wafting through the haze in his latest track “Batter Up.” Hush Machine finds its origins in 2013 when in Boatright’s final years of high school. Through waves of fuzzy vocals, meandering guitar lines, and a supportive bass counterpart, Boatright muses over youthful indiscretions through the use of baseball analogies in “Batter Up”. All this with a sun-soaked tint of summers past where there were minimal worries and nothing but time. This track comes from Hush Machine’s self-titled album recently released by Jigsaw Records on April 21st. Kommode – “Fight or Flight or Dance All Night”

Eirik Glambek Bøe’s solo project Kommode opens up shimmering doors of jazz, pop, and new wave in his new track “Fight or Flight or Dance All Night.” A striking electronic/analog hybrid, the track incorporates an array of synths, funk bass, trumpet, and methodical guitar to drive home a unique, toe-tapping sound. He manages to place and grow instrumentation in such a way that the song becomes a journey. Beshken – “The Roman Call”

Stretching his limbs after a brief haitus, Beshken introduces his new project For Time is the Longest Distance Between Two People with the release of the single “The Roman Call.” After experiencing every artist’s worst nightmare in which all of his recordings, hard drive, and lyric journal, among other valuables, were stolen, Ben Shirken made a conscious effort to look at the experience in a positive light, which he then channeled into his latest work. This is the first project that features Beshken’s vocals on all tracks, revealing a further layer of vulnerability as well as ability to adapt. “The Roman Call” is a vivacious mix of dreamy piano lines, groove-laden bass, sharp electronic elements, and serene vocals. With years of hard work lost forever, the only place to go was up, and up Beshken went. Take in his sunny ray of hope below. Hugh – “GO”

London’s electropop quartet Hugh fuels a cozy guitar-synth pairing and magnetic vocals in their single “GO.” In a compelling vocal collaboration with Benin City’s Joshua Idehen, the group channels a style and emotion that brings to mind 80’s pop domination, while still sounding subdued and introspective. Singer Izzy Brooks refers to the track’s inspiration as an initial encounter feeling similar to being submerged. She adds “I remember there was green light flooding in from the surface, my lungs hurt and the excitement was so heavy it almost felt like I couldn’t breathe. Though I knew I probably should have jumped out, I stayed down beneath the waves, facing this person who had this hypnotic hold over me – it was crazy”. Σtella – “Way To Go”

Beach pop artist Σtella draws up a playful and dancey experience in her video for the song “Way To Go.” The Athens singer-songwriter brings in splashes of brassy synth, surfed-up guitars and lackadaisical vocals to muster a tongue and cheek tune with a dash of moxie. This is all blended together and siphoned into the video, which indulges on coastal city wanderings around dusk that are equal amounts campy and cool. Founded in 2012, Σtella’s endeavors now account for three other band members and numerous collaborations with other Greek artists. Take in what Σtella has to offer below.

The Foreign Resort – “She Is Lost”

Brooding new wave alt-rockers The Foreign Resort stew over a broken relationship in their track “She is Lost.” Through a series of expansive guitar lines, crisp drum work, and hearty vocals, the Danish trio illuminates a road to recovery from the other side of the tunnel. Combining post-punk vigor with opaque synth-pop, The Foreign Resort yields a vintage sound that stands out from the rest. The result is a deep and multifaceted single to spearhead the release of their next full-length album. Find more from the band on their previous album New Frontiers. Groves – “Savour”

A rising star on the UK math rock scene, South London band Groves make calculated electronic moves in their latest single “Savour.” From their inception in 2014, the five-some has harvested their sound organically through the evolution of performing live shows. Peppering in refined techno elements to their grassroots instrumental experience shaped Groves into their subtle electro-rock prerogative of today. “Savour” features silky-smooth vocals, reflective synths, and a meticulous bass groove, reflecting their laid back yet invigorating ethos. On the road to becoming the next Tame Impala or Two Door Cinema Club, we’re destined to be hearing a lot more from Groves very soon.
