Stephen Babcock – “Still Think of You”

Born in Buffalo, based out of Nashville, singer/songwriter Stephen Babcock brought great honor to both cities with his latest single “Still Think of You.” The wholesome, hearty, soliloquy has an upbeat melody to it, with a deeper meaning to hold it down. Stephen goes on to say: “The song is about when my first love left Upstate NY and moved to London, leaving me behind.” “Still Think of You” was recorded and produced by William Hinson in Winston-Salem, NC & was the second single Babcock released in 2022; is he gearing up to drop a new project? Vibropath – “Turning Inside”

The light production blanketed over “Turning Inside” by Vibropath has the goldilocks factor of being just right. Rochester-based artist Vibropath, born Frank Marino-Moore, who I originally thought was a band is a tranquil experience to listen to. I could only imagine how laid back and relaxed his live sets are. It’s artists like Vibropath that inspire others to create their very own brand-like delivery when it comes to compiling sounds into symphonies, and that delivery is evidently displayed on “Turning Inside.” Stream it on Spotify and Apple Music Vibropath · Turning Inside

Blanco Tranco – “Devil’s Ivy”

2022’s tack of putting one foot in front of the other is here via Blanco Tranco with “Devil’s Ivy.” Get ready to do a lil two step dance with your crush (or by yourself) because these moves come with the song. The zesty four-piece from Melbourne Australia consists of Sophie, Matt, Tiff, and Mark who combine melancholic surf with post-punk sounds. Blanco Tranco is ambitious because they are still relatively fresh off of their five song EP, I’ve Been Dying to Tell You and they’ve already come back with this piping hot single. I don’t know what’s next for Blanco Tranco, but I have a feeling they have something big up their sleeve. Stream it on Spotify and Apple Music Devil’s Ivy by Blanco Tranco

Flycatcher – “Sodas in the Freezer”

With the wind at their backs, Flycatcher soars through the sky on their new track “Sodas in the Freezer.” The original riff laid down dates all the way back to 2017, and after five years, it’s aged like fine wine. The somewhat dark, somber, lyrics and melodies were astonishingly written on the way home from work. Distorted riffs running parallel with clean cut vocals doused in a little reverb make “Sodas in the Freezer” an instant classic; it also features a vintage music video directed, shot, and edited by Kris Khunachak. Flycatcher is representing the alternative rock of New Brunswick, NJ and catch them at Asbury Park on May 21st, don’t forget your sodas! Simen Mitlid – “Away”

If you were to look up the definition of chill in the sonic dictionary, there’s a good chance you would find “Away” by Simen Mitlid as the main definition. Coming in all the way from Oslo, Norway, Simen has a very soothing voice that is easy on the ears of any age range. The skies could be ocean blue or suede gray and “Away” slaps every time; it contains a groovy, dare I say tropical, vibe to it with it’s squiggly guitar swirls? Calm your nerves with Simen Mitlid, it’s much cheaper than therapy. Stream it on Spotify and Apple Music Simen Mitlid · Away

Hanna Searl – “My Fantasy”

You can almost see the lighters swaying back and forth while listening to Hanna Searl sing on her latest single, “My Fantasy.” Based in LA, the singer/songwriter brings out her signature 90s aesthetic in this bratty rock track. Distorted guitar shreds over the hook embellish the tragedy of the love story being told. “I don’t think you know my name, I wonder if you feel the same” is a line that all introverts feel in their soul. Get in your mystically therapeutic feels with Hanna Searl on “My Fantasy.” Stream it on Spotify and Apple Music Hanna Searl · My Fantasy

DYGL – “Waves”

Coming all the way from Tokyo, Japan, the four-piece band DYGL spoke volumes on their latest single “Waves.” The DYGL experience is something similar to a beautiful orange sunset somewhere coastal. The vocals show off the potential to sound light, yet powerful, along with hypnotizing rhythms via guitar that put you in a spiral. The lyrics “Spinning ‘round stuck in a vortex” exponentially increase the sensation of swirling around in all the best ways. DYGL dropped “Waves” March 23rd of 2022, reaching buffaBLOG almost instantly, soon to reach the rest of the world. Stream it on Spotify and Apple Music Waves by DYGL

Erin Anne – “Eve Polastri’s Last Two Brain Cells Have A Debate”

LA-based singer/songwriter under Carpark Records: Erin Anne (if not already) proved she was far more than just that on latest single “Eve Polastri’s Last Two Brain Cells Have A Debate.” The level of relatability within the little lyrics laid down is astonishing. Erin Anne gave her fans a music video to go along with “Eve Polastri’s Last Two Brain Cells Have A Debate” that has an ending so happy and epic I couldn’t help but smile. If you enjoy guitars being shred and reflecting your relationships with others and even moreso, yourself; this is your anthem. Stream it on Spotify and Apple Music

Pressyes – “Years”

Pressyes, born René Mühlberger, unleashed a symphony of expression upon the world with their latest single “Years.” The melody within the hook-harking “Years,”  joined by beautiful ad libs, is just one of the many aspects that make Pressyes a top-tier vocalist. The Berlin-based artist is also credited for the phenomenal production throughout the entirety of the track. “Years” came with a music video that was shot on Kodak 16MM with a 1971 Bolex Camera for a certified vintage appeal. Pressyes impressively had a hand in every aspect of the production of the music video, from directing to editing, to solidify the perfectionism within his vision. talker – “Growing Up”

The LA musician talker has built up quite the name for herself. In her own words, Talker is known for “throwing glitter all over my emotions” which is honestly too humble of a statement for her work. The soundtracks she makes should be featured in movies, her song “Growing Up” has so much emotion packaged into its understated but utterly-unique indie rock form. That connection between the artist and their audience is apparent with talker. It’s really liberating to hear from a fellow human being; a message of things not being exactly how you imagined, and figuring out where to go from there. “Growing Up” is the first step in finding the ultimate answer of not always having one. Virgo Rising – “Headlights (Live at House of Wonders)”

Coming Live from the House of Wonders, the Winnipeg-wonders Virgo Rising performed their single “Headlights” and it enhanced the experience of the track tenfold. Seeing each individual band member actively participating and zoned in on the moment painting a lot more vivid of a picture. The uniquely sporadic percussion at the tail-end of the video is unlike any I’ve heard in my lifetime. Single shot camera work and gritty effects thrown over the visual for “Headlights” pushes the lo-fi but organic ambiance Virgo Rising brings with them. Stream the original on Spotify and Apple Music

Coral Collapse – “Symmetries”

Rolling in like a fog over the surface of a lake, Symmetries by Buffalonian band Coral Collapse came at the perfect timing. Just as the world begins to open up again, Symmetries oozes the sweet sensation of a new day; not only does it sound like a new morning, but a fresh start with the people you love. Coral Collapse originally banded together in 2015 and have been going strong ever since. They’ve dropped three singles, an EP, and an LP outside of Symmetries… This one is different though. I’m not going to lie, after hearing Symmetries in its entirety, while their other releases served as a great foundation of roots for Coral Collapse, it’s evident that we’re witnessing their “blooming” as a band. They’ve blossomed into a force of dream pop to be reckoned with. The intro track and lead single, “Graves,” features an incredibly wholesome music video shot[...]

Gentle Ivanhoe Death Skulls – “Skulls Of The Grateful Dead”

Serving as a delicate lofi bop, “Skulls Of The Grafeful Dead ” by Swedish act Gentle Ivanhoe Death Skulls transcends typical music with its charming and warm tone. The track proves that a blissful synth can push tidal waves of vibes. It also comes with a charming visualizer of kids skating and skiing around at a park with Gentle Ivanhoe Death Skulls transparently playing in the background. “Skulls Of The Grateful Dead” was first brought to light March 21st of 2022 and will illuminate rooms forever with its uncanny aural glow. Matilda Cole – “Bite Down”

“The soundtrack to teenage oblivion” is how upcoming pop artist Matilda Cole describes her catalog… And I’d say that “Bite Down,” the outro of her latest EP The High Dive, is no doubt a testament to that very statement. Iconic lines like “If you’re looking for the church baby, turn around, got an empty hearse and a hole in the ground,” display the edgy pop energy emitting from Matilda Cole’s voice. The nearly four-minute track feels like a two-minute experience due to all of the differentiation in rhythm and timbre throughout. Just about anyone is sure to bob their head and/or sway in the presence of “Bite Down” but if you’re anywhere in between the ages of 15 & 30, Matilda Cole might be your next hero. Les Gold – “Cold Hawaii”

Representing the new-retro and surf influence sounds of Portland, Oregon, Les Gold’s new single “Cold Hawaii” sticks out like a shark fin closing in on shore. Bringing brilliant vocals, catchy guitar hooks, killer percussion, and an energetic bassline, the five piece curates a sonic coffee on the beach. The cover art is very simplistic yet complex for being compiled mostly of dots and lines, giving it a very whimsical yet professional aesthetic. “Cold Hawaii” was brought to the public on March 18th 2022.
