Everything In Waves – Echoes

Hopes and dreams are funny, fickle things. As we get older, we start to reconcile some of our childhood delusions of grandeur. For some, this means settling peacefully into a routine 9 to 5 grind and making the most of your comfort and free time. For others, it’s an uphill battle to cling to what defines you as an individual. It may be different for the doctors of the world, but for the rest of us who have embraced our humdrum day jobs, how many of us are really pursuing our passions for employment? Enter Everything in Waves, a.k.a Anthony Del Plato – a talented and prolific musician from Batavia with 15+ years of songwriting experience. Besides a healthy dose of inescapable hook-writing skills gleaned from the Cobains and Grohls of the world, Del Plato was raised on the atmospheric emo heroes of the late 90s and early 00s – think The Appleseed Cast[...]

Sundownchasing (Anthony Del Plato) Kicks Off Twelve-Month Songwriting Project

Sundownchasing (aka Batavian singer/songwriter Anthony Del Plato) announced late last year that he would be “shaking off the rust” by releasing one song per month for the entirety of 2018. His first offering, Another Shade of Blue,” is trademark Anthony Del Plato, evoking the frigid January weather via his eerily pristine musicianship. He pairs icy guitar tones with vaguely winter-esque lyrics about the Niagara River, frozen to look like a lion’s mane. Fans of The Appleseed Cast, Bon Iver, or Minus the Bear will love this song – be sure to check it out using the widget below. “Another Shade of Blue” is the first of many Sundownchasing songs to be released this year – they will all be available through Bandcamp. Anthony Del Plato Releases Two New Singles

Our Batavian buddy Anthony Del Plato surprised us with a new two-song, EP last week, which he has affectionately self-titled. The first track, “Call and Answer,” is a wonderful addition to Del Plato’s canon. The song pairs autumn imagery with winter laments and is bolstered by spiraling guitars and Del Plato’s signature layered harmonies. “Numbers” is an ethereal take on a previously released song, reminiscent of Del Plato’s recent foray into electronica with new project, Tape Drive. As if that weren’t enough, Del Plato is on a roll having recently reunited with his Strings & Chords collaborator Bradley Kujawski for a one-off song under the moniker Junction Hill. Their new song, “Suburban Lawn Envy Blues,” is an upbeat number, despite the rainy weather being sung about. The grass is always greener, right guys?

Tape Drive (Anthony Del Plato) Posts Debut Song

Anthony Del Plato is a man of many talents. Between his solo work, his collaboration with Brad Kujawski, and even an incredible cover of Stepfriends‘ “Strangers, Friends, and Pictures,” Del Plato has been a consistent fixture on our year end best-of lists. Today we share with you a new project of his: Tape Drive, born out Del Plato’s hopefully temporary inability to mic things up and get loud. Tape Drive is an instrumental electronic project. His first song, simply titled “Untitled Tape,” is two and a half minutes of ambient drums, bells, and soft piano. The track is chilltronica music for fans of The Album Leaf, Telefon Tel Aviv, or The Appleseed Cast. Check it out below.

Anthony Del Plato Covers Stepfriends’ “Strangers, Friends, and Pictures”

Batavia musician and blog all-star, Anthony Del Plato, has long been teasing his forthcoming local covers album. This weekend, he released the first track that could be a part of the project, a cover of “Strangers, Friends, and Pictures” from emo revisionists, Stepfriends. The original has been floating around bandcamp for a few months now, and was formally released this past Tuesday as part of Stepfriends’ debut album, All We’ve Got. Del Plato delivers a lush and gripping interpretation, departing from the bursting pep of Stepfriends’ initial take. Listen to the original over at Stepfriends’ bandcamp page, and check out Del Plato’s cover below.
