LonelyTwin – “More Than On My Mind”

Stockholm’s LonelyTwin (aka Madelene Eliasson) just released her debut album, This End Had No Beginning, via Ultra Records. The song “More Than On My Mind” is on the album, and it’s our latest recommendation for good reason. Expect light and airy indie pop vibes with themes of heartbreak, love, and strained relationships. About the song, Eliasson says: “It’s about being stuck in a loop of thinking that things might be better next time, even though you might know deep down that it’s never gonna happen.” You can also find “More Than On My Mind” on Apple Music and Spotify. Breadcouch – “Livin”

Anyone who is able to pull off an effective beat switch on a track with a runtime of two minutes and twelve seconds is one special individual; introducing: Breadcouch. The Texas natives most recent installment “Livin” is lyrically lighthearted with heavy hitting flows. “On Livin” in particular, Breadcouches delivery sounds like he just woke up but it works as a very effective tamber for his vox. That being said, we’ve been provided with a timeless track by the Couch of Bread and it will be very interesting to see where he goes with the next one, until then… Stream “Livin” on Spotify Stream “Livin” on SoundCloud breadcouch · livin

G Herbo – “Drill (feat. Rowdy Rebel)”

What better way to celebrate the one year anniversary of an album other than to release some visuals for it? G Herbo decided to paint even more of a picture for his fans by releasing the music video for “Drill (feat. Rowdy Rebel)” off of his last project 25. AZAE Production made a three minute movie for Chicago and New York’s superstars as they floated over the mountains of 808s. G Herbo and Rowdy Rebel brought the perfect balance of business and casual to their video for “Drill.” See what I mean here: Stream “Drill” on Spotify Watch the “Drill” music video on YouTube

Child Seat – “Burning”

It’s not often that a live session catches our ears for a feature, but the attention to detail on Child Seat‘s latest take on “Burning” has us questioning our sanity. Between the gently bubbling backing track; the winding guitar parts; and the ever-perfect vocals, “Burning” sounds like it could be the studio rendition of the song. It certainly doesn’t hurt that the band looks ultra cool while performing. You can also find “Burning” on Spotify.

FNTN – “Impossible Summer”

We’re checking back in with our buds in FNTN and their surfy new single, “Impossible Summer.” You might remember our feature of “Crypto Vegan” from a few months ago, but it’s time to open your ears again for this irresistible number. The juicy intro guitar riffs were enough to sell us, but this beachy tune has enough melody and good-time vibes to have us head bopping all the way through. You can also find “Impossible Summer” on Spotify.

Week Neez – “Shiny Leopard”

The “business-punk” band Week Neez (their words, not ours, although v applicable) recently caught our ears with their hooky new single, “Shiny Leopard.” By this point, any dedicated readers of buffaBLOG know we’re suckers for strong pop hooks and big energy… Let’s just say “Leopard” is full of both. The Wollongong, Australia-based act is headed out on tour this summer in support, so while we can’t join them (because we’re stuck in Buffalo), anyone in their area should make any effort. Check out the YouTube embed below – you can also find “Shiny Leopard” on Spotify.

Old Fashioned Bleeding Hearts – “Somewhere Else”

Brooklyn act Old Fashioned Bleeding Hearts (aka songwriter/musician Colton Tracy) caught our ears with the 90s-esque slacker rock on his latest single, “Somewhere Else.” Sludgy guitars and siren leads pair well with the aloof vocals to pierce through your speakers in a way that brings to mind genre luminaries like Built to Spill, Pavement, and early-era Weezer. Be sure to stick around for the second half of the song for a super-tasty outro. “Somewhere Else” is on Soundcloud – you can also find OFBH’s discography on Bandcamp too. Tom Sundog – “Night on My Mind”

London-based artist Tom Sundog is on a mission to create sounds no one has ever heard before and we think the rapid-fire delivery on his latest offering, “Night on My Mind” checks all those boxes. An electrified beat and squelchy synth sounds give this an otherworldly sound, certainly refreshing on the ears while offering a challenging new sonic palate to explore. Check out the music video below on YouTube.

Limón Limón – “Differently”

Frequent buffaBLOG features Limón Limón are back with another electropop gem called “Differently.” This song has extreme summer vibes – with an inescapable bassline bop and lyrical content about finding love after a long drought, this one feels just as right poolside as it does on your morning commute to work. If you’re feeling froggy, you can also peep another of our Limón favorites here. Check out “Differently” via Soundcloud below – if you like it as much as we do, add it to your Spotify playlist. Hot Mustard – “Naked When You Come”

Spicy! There’s something to be said about the funk/soul sounds being pumped out from Hot Mustard – it’s a decadent blend of boom bap hip-hop sounds and 2022-flavored use of retro samples. It’s not too hard to imagine something amazing coming from a duo composed of members of TV on the Radio and Anitbalas… But just in case you’re wondering, we recommend checking out the vintage-inspired antimated music video below. Sit back and let their distinctive heat wash all over you. Check out the music video for “Naked” below – you can also find it on Spotify.

Gamblers – “Another Dose (feat. Mick Jenkins)”

Transcendent vocals laid atop an instrumental groovy enough to get you out of your seat; “Another Dose” is the summer hit you’ve been searching for. The long island trio known as Gamblers sing alongside the renown Mick Jenkins over the hook of their latest single. After setting the tone, Mick Jenkins picks it up and doesn’t drop it, going hard for the entire verse. The production throughout the track has a retro, almost Black Eyed Peas vibe to it… AKA it’s two minutes of sonic nostalgia. “Another Dose” also came along with mesmerizing visuals directed and produced by Paul Motisi. Dax – “Searching For a Reason”

With undisputed authenticity, Dax comes forth with his latest music video, “Searching For a Reason,” from his sophomore album Pain Paints Paintings. The video uses Alice and Wonderland as a vehicle to drive the plot of finding yourself in a very dark place where it seems as if everyone’s against you. Iconic lines like, “Forget bout all of the followers, Jesus had 12 disciples,” alongside stunning visuals are what certifies “Searching For a Reason” as a new show-piece in Dax’s discography. Despite the track being nearly one year old, its music video has garnered over 100,000 likes on YouTube in less than one month of its release, which goes to show how devoted Dax’s fans really are. poolblood – “twinkie”

Our Toronto neighbors in poolblood just released a cool new song called “twinkie” and we’re hooked. “Twinkie” is jangly and gauzy – enough to appeal to fans of anyone from Phoebe Bridgers, to Girlpool, to Goon. The accompanying music video (directed by guitarist/drummer Shamir) captures the mood of the song perfectly; a nostalgia-inducder, full of frolicking, flowers, and imagery that generally brings to mind happier times. About the song, singer Maryam Said says: “‘twinkie’ is a song I wrote about the tenderness of time, time as a source of love, and the way time is the ultimate parent. Starting over is as sweet as a golden sponge cake.” You can find “twinkie” on Spotify and Apple Music too.

Paolo Nutini – “Acid Eyes”

Paolo Nutini seems to be on fire lately (a recent performance with Liam Gallagher can confirm), and that energy is evident on his slow-burn new single, “Acid Eyes.” “Eyes” is a hopeful but bittersweet love song with a haunting refrain of “I never told you I loved you.” While the song starts out as a simple bass thump, it eventually blossoms into something beautiful, atmospheric, and orchestral – not unlike a perfectly-executed acid trip… Unless we’re mistaken and Paolo’s referring to something a bit more caustic. Check out “Acid Eyes” below – you can also find it on Apple Music and Spotify.

Knightingale – “Big Wave”

All the way from Singapore, Knightingale are making waves (get it?) with their latest single, “Big Wave.” Huge punk rock energy pours over you right from the get go – an absolutely huge guitar sound swells to tsunami heights while the vocal presence sounds surfy and distant, even though they still crash over you. Wave puns aside, fans of Wavves, FIDLAR, and Hot Water Music are going to love the sheer energy here. You can also find “Big Wave” on Spotify.
