Winsome – “Entertain Us – Live Session”

We’re obviously fans of live music, but when a live session catches our ears, you know it’s truly got to be magical. Sacramento indie/emo act Winsome decided to capture some live footage of a new song they’ve been working on by setting up a few cameras in their living room. With plucky guitars lush with reverb, male/female harmonies, and an urgent undercurrent of emotion, “Entertain Us” has us feeling some type of way… We think their brooding live presence will hit you in the feels the way it did for us. PLANT – “Lucid Dreams”

It’s one thing to make a dancefloor banger, but we always appreciate when synthpop has an urgent feel to it. The latest from PLANT, “Lucid Dreams,” nails that vibe, taking the listener through an intangible dream state lush with buzzing synth flavors and ethereal vocal melodies. The real gem here is the super-catchy chorus hook, but perhaps unsurprisingly, “Dreams” was inspired by a real-life dream – check out how PLANT came up with the concept of the song below: “’Lucid Dreams’ is about an actual dream that I had. Glom – “I Wanted The Real Thing”

We’ve been keeping a close eye on Glom – ICYMI, we’ve previously featured their songs “Fungus,” “Gre[a]y,” and “Again,” because they are genuinely an excellent act. They’re back with yet another banger, this time called “I Wanted The Real Thing.” The Brooklyn alt-rockers sure know how to write a guitar riff – with touches of psychedelia and synth pop and carried by a strong falsetto croon, “Real Thing” fits in perfectly with their technicolor brand of indie rock. young friend – “ENDLESS”

Bedroom-pop act young friend (aka songwriter Drew Tarves) knows how to blend genre to his advantage. Whether it’s the grungy guitars, squiggly keyboard textures, or smartly-composed 2022-flavored percussion, “ENDLESS” could fit on just about any playlist. At only 22-years-old, the wunderkind uses the age old topic of lost young love to his advantage – about the song, he says: “ENDLESS is a song that reflects on a past relationship. Tender Glue – “Simple Boys”

Tender Glue, the clever moniker for songwriter Tom Gluewicki, captured our hearts with the fun indie rock energy of latest single, “Simple Boys.” A not-so-secret nod to ALL kinds of love (including self), “Boys” bounces along with it’s playful guitar riff and surprisingly longing vocal performance. About the song, Tom says: “This one is kind of a funny take on the immaturity of some men – not in a derogatory way. Caye – “SOME LAKES”

If you’ve felt like the music in your life is missing that sparkle which enhances your daily vibes, then look no further than “SOME LAKES.” Based out of Santa Monica, the one they call Caye is the gatekeeper of such a sparkle. The ambience he offers up to his fans is hypnotizingly intoxicating in the purest way conceivable. The mix on the vocals is the definition of nostalgic, as you can’t help but imagine a sun setting as the carnival lights take over the task of illuminating the night. Caye must’ve known “SOME LAKES” would be the perfect cherry on top for the summer of 2022, I can only imagine what he’s got up his sleeve for 2023. Kash XO x Fivio Foreign – “CLEAR THE ROOM”

From coast to coast, Kash XO & Fivio Foreign have the game in a headlock with their latest single. The Oxnard California native & the New York mogul present “CLEAR THE ROOM,” featuring the sauciest of 808’s drizzled over the entire instrumental. Anytime Fivio graces the mic, he paints some of the most vivid pictures drill has ever witnessed. The fact that Kash XO held his own against who’s widely regarded the greatest drill artist out right now is crazy in itself. Kash XO wasted no expense on the visuals paired up with “CLEAR THE ROOM” with scenes that definitely cost several thousand to produce, see for yourself. Berry & Balloon Twister – “Dream Tangerine”

Berry & Balloon Twister teamed up for this blissful, psyched-out take on jangle pop that they’re calling “Dream Tangerine.” There’s something that reminds us of the late 90s on this one (think New Radicals or The Sundays) – sparkly guitar leads and nimble bass flourishes pair well with Berry’s soaring and airy vocal presence. Fun fact, XTC’s Andy Partridge arranged the hiatus on this track. An even MORE fun fact comes straight from Berry herself – see below: “This song was partially inspired by picking up a hitchhiker in the snowy winter who was a porn channel presenter (Babe Station) late for work. MAYA LUCIA – “numb or something”

MAYA LUCIA walks the line between beauty and cacophony on her latest, “numb or something.” There’s no ignoring that big “ugly” chord in the progression here (we use that term lightly), but the commitment to beauty-in-ugliness is what makes “numb” truly magical. Bringing to mind bands like Speedy Ortiz and Great Grandpa, “numb” twists and turns in unexpected ways that keep you on your toes as MAYA weaves in directions that barely even seem possible. About the song, she says: “This is the song you scream in your room after a long day. It’s melodrama at its core — the feeling of the world ending only to realize you’re crying over nothing. Range Life – “TRUCKS”

“TRUCKS,” the new jam from Range Life, plods along with so much pleasant indie folk energy, you’d assume songwriter Mike Chiarappa was from the Midwest or Arizona… or something. Instead, this seasoned New Jersey native fooled us with the tasteful use of plucky banjo and shuffling drums. The cherry-on-top here is Chiarappa’s attention to melody, especially the super-pleasant chorus that gives us warm feelings of nostalgia. You can find “TRUCKS” on Spotify and Apple Music too.

Crystal Rose – “Thought I’d Say”

There’s something to be said about love songs – there’s a fine line between ultra-sappy and ultra-relatable, and we think Crystal Rose struck a sweet spot with her latest offering, “Thought I’d Say.” Crystal plainly states the things she likes about her man in a refreshing, palatable way – it doesn’t hurt that it’s delivered in a sugary sweet melody that is bound to bounce around your head after a listen or two. S-X – “It’s Over Now”

A new pop sensation by the name S-X has actually been percolating in the game for quite some time in the production department, but he clearly has more in mind. S-X dropped stunning visuals over the last single, “It’s Over Now,” for his debut album titled things change. However, as immaculate as the visuals may be; it’s the vocals of S-X that shine even brighter under the spotlight. The production of the track is contagiously bouncy, yet suspenseful all at once. In the ears of both S-X and his fans “It’s Over Now” is a genuine step into the direction somewhere that’s better for one’s self. What does it mean to you? Mamalarky – “Mythical Bonds”

Mamalarky mean business; you can hear it on their latest single, “Mythical Bonds.” It’s a part of their latest group endeavor, the sophomore full-length Pocket Fantasy, that they went all-in on… 3/4 of the band uprooted their lives to move into a shared space together. Marc DiNero – “The Gr8st”

As a tribute to both the OG and himself, the Louisville-based MC known as Marc DiNero portrayed the great Muhammad Ali in his latest single, “The GR8ST.” The video has the both the quality & energy of a modern day Rocky Movie, not to mention Marc going just as hard on the mic. If you’re preparing for an athletic event of any sorts, do yourself a favor and let “The Gr8st” fuel your flame (watch the video for best results). As soon as Marc DiNero enters the ring, he unapologetically lays into the track with such a perfect pin-point delivery in a way where each word sounds like he’s making direct contact to his opponent (aka your ears).
