Tonight: Titus Andronicus

Redbeard Samurai Drops Visuals for Debut Single “Turn it Up”

Get your body movin’ as Rochester soul-hop artist, Redbeard Samurai, drops the visuals for his absolutely banging debut single, “Turn it Up.” Off his upcoming concept album, Second, the promising emcee cooks up a funky mix of soul, jazz and hip-hop influences over slice and dice rhymes for a fantastically fun, full-blown party track. Cursive – “Under the Rainbow”

Veteran and celebrated post-hardcore indie rockers, Cursive, are back after years of silence with the raucously nihilistic anthem, “Under the Rainbow.” Found on their upcoming studio LP, Vitriola, this isn’t so much a call to action as it is the venting of anger and frustration over the current state of affairs. Lead singer and guitarist, Tim Kasher, lashes out at income inequality on this particular track and clashes with grippingly melodic car crash instrumentals. Dangermaker – “Pressure”

San Francisco four-piece, Dangermaker, uploads the glitchy visuals for their wonderfully retro and instantly addictive electro-pop track, “Pressure.” Off their upcoming sophomore LP, Run, this ultimo dance record is stuffed with laser show synths, livewire riffs and mesmerizing vocals. Sleepy Orange – “Big Fish”

New-on-the-scene indie rock quartet, Sleepy Orange, make a splash with the video for their breezy debut single, “Big Fish.” This sunny soft rock track features island riffs that lap like waves as gentle vocals rock you like a hammock. Nylon Otters Drop Two New Singles

Buffalo three-piece Nylon Otters are back with a double dose of indie rock goodness. Their dual release of “Pollenblonde” and “Loose Ends” are comparable to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in their volatility. The former is postured with a lazily hypnotic rock beat and mumbly, apathetic vocals while the latter is boisterous and crass with drunken outbursts of raspy hollering. What both have in common however is their catchiness and the ability to crawl inside your head and hang out for a few hours. Do yourself a favor and give these rocking Siamese tracks a listen below. Tonight: Yo La Tengo

Cancel your plans and hold onto your butts because living indie rock legends Yo La Tengo will be gracing Asbury Hall in Buffalo tonight. Debuting in 1986, Yo La Tengo are heavyweight cult heroes whose music is so beautifully emotive and engrossing-ly atmospheric it will bring a tear to your eye. Their eclectic records range anywhere from Lynchian instrumentals to lazy river folk and make up 15 studio albums and countless additional material. This year, the resilient Hoboken, NJ trio released their latest lucid full-length, There’s a Riot Going On, adding to their impressive repertoire of celestial bedroom grooves. Tonight: Shonen Knife

The 9th Ward at Babeville in Buffalo is going to be rocking tonight as it hosts the legendary livewire power pop trio, Shonen Knife. These candy-coated cult heroines from Osaka, Japan have an amazingly storied and accomplished history over their rocking 40-year career. Shonen Knife first found US underground success during the 90’s with sugary sweet pop rock melodies that delight the ears and make heads rush. During this decade, they toured the country with Lollapalooza, appeared on Beavis & Butthead and counted Sonic Youth and Nirvana among their fanbase, even opening for the latter in one of their early gigs.
