Pitchfork Music Festival: Sunday

Just when you thought the day by day lineup of acts couldn’t get any better, Sunday happened. With no rain in sight, the crowd at the final day of the 2015 Pitchfork Music Festival did not hold back in the blistering sun during sets from Viet Kong, Waxahatchee, Caribou, Run the Jewels, Courtney Barnett, and many more. Pitchfork Music Festival: Saturday

The Pitchfork Music Festival action continued into Saturday, just to be cut short midday by torrential down pouring and high winds. Luckily, the weather only caused a short delay, and gates opened back up to the anxious fest goers. The relentless rain had no effect on their spirits, as I saw of the most passionate and active crowds of the entire festival, almost as if the precipitation had helped in a way. Nearly every set I saw this past Saturday was incredible, but the major standouts were Future Islands and Bully. During both sets, I found myself too busy singing along every word to grab as many pictures as I would have liked. Check out the photos of Saturday’s action below. Pitchfork Music Festival: Friday

With the sun beating down on the growing lines of anxious festival goers and shouts from street vendors selling bottled water, I could see the excitement building within the crowd as the 2015 Pitchfork Music Festival was ready to kick off. As Union Park opened it’s doors, it slowly filled with boisterous music lovers, some running to be first in line at the stages. Musically, some indie’s biggest acts played, including CHVRCHES, Mac Demarco, Panda Bear, and a headlining set from Wilco. Check out the photos of Friday’s day time action below, along with photos from the Official Pitchfork Festival after party at the Subterranean featuring Pinkwash, Tenement, and Waxahatchee. Five Most Anticipated Acts of Pitchfork Festival: Sunday

While the lineups on Friday and Saturday are incredible, I think that Sunday is the strongest day of this weekend’s Pitchfork Music Festival. Some of my personal favorite acts are playing, and they saved some of the most hype-worthy acts for the final day. I mean, Sunday was the first day of the festival that single-day tickets sold out for, so some other people must agree.  Let’s take a look at my five most anticipated acts for Sunday, the final day of the festival Waxahatchee @ Green Stage (2:30pm) This is another act that is one of my most anticipated of the entire festival.  After dropping one of my favorite albums of the year so far, singer/songwriter Katie Crutchfield, aka Waxahatchee, found a way to make me fall in love with her music more than I thought possible. Her incredible songwriting talent and her honest, gentle, voice have kept me[...]

Five Most Anticipated Acts of Pitchfork Festival: Saturday

As a part of our continuing coverage of the Pitchfork Music Festival this weekend,  we take a top list of my picks for Saturday.  When it comes to festivals, Saturday is where the action really begins.  With five more acts playing than on Friday, the day is sure to be jam packed with excellent music. Bully @ Blue Stage (1:55pm) While I had not heard of Bully until a few months ago, the hype has built quickly. The female fronted quartet is an up and coming garage rock band out of Nashville, TN, and its catchy guitar sections and grungy vocals make them comparable to bands like Cloud Nothings and Girlpool. Don’t worry if you can’t make it out to the festival, though. The group will be playing a show at the Mohawk Place on September 26th here in Buffalo. Its heaving power pop style is sure to infect the festival[...]

Five Most Anticipated Acts of Pitchfork Festival: Friday

Year after year, I have been watching from the sidelines as Pitchfork announced absolutely incredible line ups to their yearly festival in Union Park in Chicago. When I found out this year I would be going as well as doing coverage for buffaBLOG, I was ecstatic. As part of my coverage for the festival, I will be outlining my five most anticipated acts that are playing each each day. Natalie Prass @ Red Stage (3:30pm) I made it a point to check out all of the artists on this years bill, and Natalie Prass really stuck out for some reason. After checking out her 2015 self-titled debut, I was instantly hooked. She utilizes her soulful, airy, beautiful voice, and combines it with grand string and horn sections, which makes for some incredible tracks. Having only one album under her belt, she showcases an incredible amount of talent. I can’t wait[...]
