Tid’ The Season Night One at Riverworks (10/10/21)

After taking a year off from their holiday shows, local legends Every Time I Die returned to their hometown and brought their annual Christmas shows back to Buffalo Riverworks this past weekend.  Still riding high off the release of their latest critically acclaimed record released earlier this year, Radical, the Buffalo boys made for a weekend to remember for locals and out of towners alike.  With pre parties and after parties on Friday and Saturday, a pre show at Rec Room on Thursday, and a massive curated list of stuff to do in the city, the boys in ETID turned Buffalo into a whirlwind for the weekend.   If you were in local restaurants or small businesses, odds are you saw someone going to the shows.  The energy that these shows produce not only at the venue, but in the city as well, is truly something special. Both nights, ETID played[...]

Tonight: Com Truise

Synthetic astronaut Com Truise brings his super chilled out brand of retro-futuristic electronica back to downtown Buffalo tonight at the Rec Room with special guests Photay and Beshken. On tour in support of his recently released fourth album Persuasion System, NYC native Com Truise aka Seth Haley has been patrolling the musical fusion borderlands that exist out of time and space between subsonic electrofunk, vaporwave, roller rink ecstasy, and neon soaked Vice City for the last decade, and his live show is a full on experience felt in the electrical impulses that are you soul and right on down to the quantum level, which basically means it’s a really good time. Opening the show and working on the crowd with experimental vibes will be NYC inner ear wizard Photay and Los Angeles DIY electronica act Beshken. Doors are at 7pm and tickets are $20.

Tonight: The Regrettes

Up-and-coming California buzz band The Regrettes pass through the City of Good Neighbors tonight at The Leopard Lounge with fellow Californians Hot Flash Heat Wave. The Regrettes, fronted by the irrepressible and excellently named Lydia Night, came up out of the LA punk scene full of righteous fury, brutal honesty, and a sharp ear for the sweet 60’s sounds that inform the very best surf punk (Bikini Kill, Best Coast), as showcased on their terrific 2017 debut Feel Your Feelings, Fool! Their current single “I Dare You” however is tantalizingly pure post punk, with tight grooves for dancing and hooks that dig deep while keeping all the take no prisoners attitude that makes this band so damn refreshing and potentially worth riding and dying for. Bay Area rockers Hot Flash Heat Wave, whose own Cali punk stylings have begun to pleasantly branch out into Kevin Parker influenced smooth psychedelia, will be[...]

Basement at Rec Room (05/17/19)

This past Friday, UK indie/pop punk outfit, Basement, made their return to Buffalo.  Following their appearance a little over a year ago opening for The Front Bottoms at Riverworks, they now have a new album under their belt, titled Beside Myself.  Though the group’s sound has slightly drifted from their original roots, it seemed to have work out for the better, as their fan base seems more passionate than ever.  Buffalo showed up for the show, the crowd seemed to love every minute of their set, filling out the Rec Room.  Their set list included a handful of new tracks, as well as a bunch of old ragers. Both the old and new kept the crowd moving throughout the entire set, and they treated Buffalo to a great show. The gig was kicked off with a tight set from 90’s inspired grunge/emo four piece Teenage Wrist, as well as a exceptional, immensely loud set from[...]

Tonight: Twin Peaks

Tonight, incandescent Chicago DIY indie garage rockers Twin Peaks make a stop in Buffalo at the Rec Room with fellow Chicagoans Post Animal and local rock heroes Made Violent. God bless them, these dudes formed their band back in high school in 2010 amidst other proper shenanigans, getting their legs becoming mainstays in Chicago’s DIY scene before releasing their debut EP Sunken in 2012 and continuing a prolific string of releases up thru last year’s Sweet ’17 Singles, a collection of laid back psych garage recordings the band released as singles monthly throughout 2017. Chicago’s Post Animal will be making a welcome return after making a very heady debut at the Tralf a few years ago and making good on a show scotched by the death of a van last year I believe, while local fellas Made Violent will be getting everybody in the mood with their tasteful, California sober hard rock[...]

Every Time I Die’s Annual Holiday Show at Buffalo Riverworks (12/15/18)

After last weekend, it’s safe to say that Buffalo is a better place with Every Time I Die.  Following last year’s insane holiday show, tickets for last weekend’s festival sold out months in advance, and a crowd of 3,500 flocked to Buffalo Riverworks  to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year.  Buffalo born and raised, Every Time I Die have amassed an insane international following over their 20 year career, selling out massive shows not only all over the country, but the world.  The madness that ensued at the show is something you can’t even really comprehend until you see it first hand.  Fans from all over the world flew into our city for the show, supported our businesses, and celebrated the city they heard so much about from ETID.  From start to finish, there was not a dull moment in the crowd, it was constant chaos. Even if you’re not a fan[...]

Last week, Turnover made their triumphant return to Buffalo in support of their new album, Good Nature.  The band managed a surprisingly great turnout at the Town Ballroom after the closure of the Waiting Room, causing the show to move locations.  They cruised through a handful of tracks off of their past two records, and with the help of Pronoun and Elvis Depressedly, made for a killer show overall.  Check out some photos from the night below, shot be blog photographer, Brendan O’Connor. The Front Bottoms at Buffalo RiverWorks (10/22/17)

This past Sunday, The Front Bottoms returned to Buffalo, this time playing an insane set at Buffalo RiverWorks. The New Jersey based indie / pop punk act played Buffalo last year at the Town Ballroom, and since then, dropped a new LP on Fueled By Ramen, titled Going Grey.  While the record had only been out for three or four days by the time of the show, the band’s dedicated fans somehow seemed to know every word to every song. They played an insane 21 song set featuring songs from all four of their major label records, and neither the crowd nor the band took a break during the set, making it an unforgettable night. Check out some photos from their crazy set below, along with shots of both openers Bad Bad Hats and Basement, shot by blog photographer, Brendan O’Connor. Against Me! at the Town Ballroom (10/05/17)

Last week, scene vets Against Me! returned to Buffalo for another unforgettable show. This was the their second time in Buffalo since the release of their latest LP, Shape Shift With Me, and they dropped a new 7″ earlier this year, featuring two killer new tracks, “Sabbitha Christie” and “First High Of The Morning.” The Dirty Nil and Bleached kicked the night off, setting up the perfect high enegery atmosphere to get the crowd ready for Against Me. Their setlist was nuts, 27 songs spanning their entire catalog, which included two covers, “Running Down a Dream” by Tom Petty and “The Best Ever Death Metal Band in Denton” by The Mountain Goats. They ended the night right with a jam packed five song encore, the perfect end to a stellar gig. Check out some photos from the show below, shot by blog photographer, Brendan O’Connor. Bayside at the Town Ballroom (5/10/17)

Last week, a very sold out Town Ballroom was completely packed for NYC emo/punk act Bayside. It was packed for a good reason though, as Bayside, who are still on tour for their new 2016 LP, titled Vacancy, brought along the timeless Say Anything for the ride, along with Buffalo based legacy act Reggie and the Full Effect. With Reggie and the Full Effect having all four members of local pop punk act Pentimento as a backing band, it only makes sense that they surprise the crowd and played a song as well. All three bands played their classics as well as the deep cuts, and it still felt like the crowd knew every word to all of the songs. Check out some photos from the amazing show below, shot by blog photographer, Brendan O’Connor. Reggie and the Full Effect Pentimento Say Anything Bayside
