200 Kids Outside Drop Off Neetchy’s The Old Me

200 Kids Outside is one of the most interesting rap acts in Buffalo. The duo usually features Neetchy on the mic with Minel covering production, though on this tape much of the production is handled by Neetchy. Neetch is a melodic rapper, at times straight singing, with lyrics that ride from tongue-in-cheek to romantic, stopping in many places in between. The group last hit us in the winter with Y’all Need a Drink, and kicked off the summer with Neetchy’s mixtape The Old Me. The Old Me is in primarily Neetchy’s work, though Minel does production and mixing on a handful of tracks. It kicks off with “Did You Wrong,” a pretty awesome Minel production. The wonky accordion beat is perfectly offset by the smoothness of Neetchy’s vocals. His subject matter on a lot of tracks is heavily influenced by love, as is the case here. 200 Kids Outside Drop Thirst-Quenching Album

For being a relatively newer act, 200 Kids Outside have got their formula nailed down. It’s not a conventional one either. Across three projects dating back to last spring, the duo of producer Minel and vocalist Neetchy have been making music drawing from influences in alt-hip hop, southern trap and R&B, and have owned it the whole way. Minel’s been a maestro on the boards providing crisp production of varying styles for Neetchy’s signature melodic vocals which float between singing and rapping. YA’LL Need a Drink is a great seven-song taste of what the duo have been working on since last August’s AutoPilot.  Album opener “WiFi” sonically is a quintessential 200 Kids song. 200 Kids Outside Drop New Vid Featuring Saint Opal

The last few months have seen a ton of collaborations between different crews and groups in the Buffalo hip hop scene. The theme continues on the latest song from the melodic rap duo 200 Kids Outside, who’ve dropped a new video featuring Saint Opal of the Black Sol  crew. Titled “It’s Lit,” the song is just that. 200 Kids producer Minel cooked up a wild beat, featuring some swirling retro synths and knocking drums for singer/rapper Neetchy to go to work over. He duets with Black Sol songstress Saint Opal pairs his chill electronic voice with her Rihanna-esque sound. Harmonies and expert vocal layering have always been a key component of the music from 200 Kids, and on “It’s Lit” is more of that great use with the addition of Opal’s powerful chops. 200 Kids Outside Drop AutoPilot Project

200 Kids Outside is an alternative hip hop duo from Buffalo consisting of rapper/vocalist Neetchy and producer/mixer Minel. Their latest project AutoPilot is an impressive collection of melodic, cloudy tunes of varying styles. Neetchy brings a unique blend of melody and rap to the group, while Minel serves forth instrumentals that draw elements from many different genres of music. Their production value is top notch, even though they’re self-described as “bedroom musicians.” Though unconventional, Neetchy’s singing shines throughout AutoPilot, particularly on the unification track “Needle,” essentially a ballad vocally. Layered, mechanized vocal tracks are characteristics of the duo’s music, and their use puts the music over the top sonically. This is most apparent on project standout “Stranger,” where Neetchy’s melodic ear creates a track thats hummable from the very first listen. The production on this track is great too, centered around some guitar strums that could be straight out of a King Krule,[...]
