Makeout Tactics EP Release Show w/ Spud and Cheap Peach @ The Cave
Friday evening might be one of the most jam-packed calendars for quality music in Buffalo in recent memory. Every neighborhood in the city has something that I would recommend, however, not every showcase is celebrating an EP release show like Elmwood Village indie pop act, Makeout Tactics. The five-piece will be unveiling their new EP titled Skunk House, which chronicles the escapades of a bunch of friends in their twenties living together in a house that’s falling apart – almost like a co-ed Frat House. Makeout Tactics’ sound is high energy, and could be compared to Surf Curse or Los Campesinos with a hint of an edgier Max Bemis (Say Anything) accenting the gang choruses. Joining the bill will be singer/songwriter SPUD and a recently re-launched Cheap Peach. Doors are $10.

Bendigo Fletcher @ Buffalo Iron Works
Louisville, Kentucky quintet Bendigo Fletcher joins in on the Friday fun as part of Buffalo’s most stacked night ever. The folksy Americana project’s vibe has a bit of Frontier Ruckus tinge, accented by picture-painting lyrics of a blue collar lifestyle which highlights the mundane and quirkiness of being both an artist and a fly on the wall. Fletcher’s sound is what Sufjan Stevens’ Kentucky album would have been before he realized this was an unattainable goal. Tickets are $20.
Sunday, October 20th @ 7pm
GRLwood @ Electric City
If you’re looking for something to continue your high after Sunday’s Bills win against the Titans, look no further than the school night rager with GRLwood at Electric City. The two-piece will be playing selections of their trilogy of back-to-back-to-back albums BLOOD (out now), SWEAT (out now), and TEARS (out 11/15). Each album has its own vibe, but still falls under the high-energy garage rock that they’ve crafted since they hit the scene in 2019 with I Sold My Soul to the Devil When I Was 12. $22 gets you in. You deserve to treat yourself. The Bills won.
