Tonight: The Naked And Famous

All you synth pop lovers out there need to get down to the Town Ballroom tonight. New Zealand turned Los Angeles based act, The Naked and Famous, are finally making a stop in Buffalo. From what I can see, it looks like the band has never actually made it out to Buffalo since they formed in 2008. Since their formation, The Naked and Famous have been pumping out hits almost every year. Even if you don’t actively listen to the band, you have to have heard a lot of their songs in passing over the years. While they are sure to be prepping up a new release sometime soon, they are still on tour supporting their 2016 LP, Simpler Forms. Opening up the show will be Buffalo’s own Humble Braggers, who recently released their debut LP, I Know Better, I’m No Better. Doors are set to open at 7pm, and tickets are still[...]

Tonight: Ghost Slime

It’s a beautiful Monday in June… What better way to ring in the evening than to support your local DIY scene and catch some top-tier math punk courtesy of Ohio punx Ghost Slime and Backtalk? Buffalo emo kingpins Alleys are also going to shred this evening, as well as a potential last-minute TBA announcement. This is sure to be a night of passion, emotion, and unstoppable riffage. Tonight’s show is at Milkies. Bring $5 so you can walk in the door, and that way, the bands can also get paid. Human Stories by GHOST SLIME

Tonight: Speakerfire

It’s hard to believe that it’s been eight long years since Speakerfire last graced a stage in Buffalo, NY. Their distinct brand of alternative rock is stuffed full of pitch-shifted guitar noise and late-aughts emo sentiment, which made them a mainstay in the Buffalo music scene a decade ago. With support from fellow Buffalo rockers The Traditional and The Soft Love, they’ll be reliving the glory days tonight with a straight-up reunion set at the Waiting Room. Tickets for tonight’s show are $10 presale, $12 at the door. Doors are at 8pm, music starts at 9pm… It’s gonna get loud, so bring earplugs or prepare yourself for some well-deserved tinnitus.

chevronbloom milkies

Accompanying them on their week and a half long tour are a freak folk act, Pecas, from New Paltz. Also on the bill are local post rock act, Tomoreaux, as well as Circular Logic. Tonight: The Leones

Tonight Batavia based psych rockers The Leones celebrate the release of their latest release, Songs From The Canyon at the Ninth Ward at Babeville with the busy as hell Humble Braggers and art rock outfit Parade Chic. Slow Caves

Tonight: Slow Caves

Slow Caves are an exciting power pop band out of Fort Collins, Colorado and tonight they are bringing their killer vibes to Mohawk Place. Pet Symmetry, a veritable emo supergroup featuring members of Into It. Over It. Kittyhawk, and Dowsing, is swinging through Buffalo this Memorial Day eve. They are fresh off of the release of their latest LP, an 11-song offering called Vision, which is full of angular emo and punk with plenty of pop hooks. Rounding out the lineup tonight are Chicago Topshelfers Ratboys, Buffalo Topshelfers Del Paxton, and the haunting emo trio Honey Coma. Doors are at 7pm tonight. The show is at the Modeling Factory with a $5 donation. Vision by Pet Symmetry

Tonight: Maybird

Tonight Rochester by way of Brooklyn vintage rockers Maybird will be bringing their instantly timeless rock to the Buffalo Iron Works with Sun Parade. The quartet from just up the 90 made a big splash regionally, rapidly drumming up a number of admirers, including a few of our staffers, and more importantly mega producer Danger Mouse, who snapped them up and released their debut EP Turning Into Water in 2015.  Opening the show will be The Sun Parade, four gents from the wilds of Massachusetts exploring the outer reaches of college fried indie rock.  Doors open at 8pm, show’s at 9pm, and tickets are $10.

Tonight: Interstellar Vibrational Travel Experiment

Tonight beloved art space Dreamland will play host to the Interstellar Vibrational Travel Experiment (IVRE), a multidisciplinary multimedia excursion beyond the limits of space, time, and corporeal location. Conducted by Wren Williams & The Sons Of Luther, HOP HOP, and Rat v Cat v Bat, audience members/test subjects will be expanding their consciousness and  journeying into the beyond without changing coordinates via curated stimuli, theoretical vibrational frequencies, and the power of shared, communal experience. Reality challenging science isn’t free, so a donation of $5 (for science!) would be tremendously appreciated and a genuine boon to humanity.  Audience members/test subjects are encouraged to be present for departure by the appointed zero hour of 8pm; arrival is scheduled for 11pm but please be aware that time is entirely subjective. Good luck.
