The Ninth Wave – “Reformation”

Glasgow four piece The Ninth Wave take on the moody indifference of noise pop with the video for their track “Reformation.” Bonding over a fondness for post-punk and new wave, the band melds edgy guitars, paired vocals, and bright synth lines to bring the best of 80’s angst into the present. The video plays on nature, industrialism, and psychedelia, heightening the sense of youthful restlessness each scene depicts. They’ve had their sound compared to that of The Cure and Simple Minds – no small feat for an up and coming Scottish band. With numerous accolades from the U.K alternative scene and a debut EP set for release in the coming months, The Ninth Wave is looking at a bright, grunge-inspired future. Lil Spacely – “You Know It”

Sydney, Australia based rapper Lil Spacely has released the accompanying music video for his single “You Know It,” which dropped in April. “You Know It” has blown up across Australian airwaves since its release, featuring in the top 50 for the Australian viral chart, leading him to feature in multiple gigs in Australia. Scenes feature Lil Spacely in MMA gloves and on the streets in Sydney ready to go to war with other rappers.   Check out the music video below for “You Know It” via YouTube.

Swayyvo – “Set”

Chattanooga rapper Swayyvo comes back with the release of his new single “Set.” Swayyvo is familiar with all sides of music touting production skills as well as experience with the saxophone to go along with his rapping. “Set” comes as a culmination of his music skills, ranging from the deep 808 use in the production from J White and the laid-back flow he brings to the track. Death Row Husband – “Fourth Wall”

London’s Death Row Husband hails a storm of brooding acoustics in his track “Fourth Wall.” The solo project of Matt Clark, Death Row Husband experiments with the tried and true methods of songwriting and recording. Eliminating certain practices, or setting a new structure like stream of consciousness writing or one-take recording is the name of the game, and the subtle differences are noticeably compelling. Coming in at around a minute and a half, “Fourth Wall” is a haunting hymn of imagery and tangibility. What starts as voice with acoustic guitar accompaniment is soon outlined with organ and synths for a fuller, cavernous sound. Ivan Dorn – “Beverly”

Ivan Dorn may be new to American audiences, but in the Ukraine he serves as a musical figurehead to fuel the masses. A known pioneer of underground pop-turned-mainstream, Dorn has made his mark in Eastern Europe, breathing life into pop with a fusion of house, funk, jazz, and nu-disco. Gearing up for his US debut, Ivan just released a video for his track “Beverly.” It’s a commentary on traditional high school hierarchy, going behind the scenes of the popular crowd to reveal youth’s fitful turbulence. Dorn is currently working on an English debut album from the sunny comfort of LA, promising more of his signature redefined pop enthusiasm. Holy Oysters – “Just So You Know”

Parisian five-piece Holy Oysters send nebulous grooves our way with the release of their single “Just So You Know.” The band combines sweeping electronics with rippling guitars and dreamy vocals to create their signature blend of psych rock. Dance-ability is their main focus, finishing each track in the recording process with a party to ensure that the optimal energy-driven listener experience was achieved. They clearly hit their mark with this track, where traces of 80’s synthpop and 90’s R&B influence converge to set the vibe. Since their 2016 EP release, Holy Oysters have raked in millions of streams and nods from the likes of BBC Radio 1 and 6Music. Brother Cephus – “Toxic Slip”

Fresh off an album release, Brother Cephus strum up some laid back indie rock with the video for their track “Toxic Slip.” Real life brothers Gabe and Seth Davis make up the duo, coming together in 2014 after years of touring the world and playing in different bands. They both share vocal and songwriting duties, but manage to present a consistent sound throughout. Brother Cephus’ latest EP Not That Important takes up an earthier sound than their previous work, drawing ties to old school rock and roll and homey Americana. “Toxic Slip” highlights this with a mellow tempo, harmonic guitar lines, and a glimpse or two at sludgy distortion. The video, directed by Javi Fick, takes on the intimacy of a house show-turned-garden party, showcasing the band’s renowned live performance atmosphere, all from the comfort of your own home. NeodotcoM – “Nose Bone”

Chicago based producer/emcee NeodotcoM recently released his new single “Nose Bone.” NeodotcoM draws inspiration from a variety of sources; gaining insight from the flow of Mobb Deep, Big Pun and the references of “C.R.E.A.M.” from the Wu Tang Clan. A bass heavy beat leads NeodotcoM’s hard-hitting bars, reaching out to the grimiest of corners. Casual Friday – “California”

Casual Friday just released “California,” the fourth single off their debut LP Weekend Forever, which came out on July 26th. The Corona, California based band plans on touring in Florida for The Fest 16 from October to November. “California” comes as a mellow song. The lightly plucked riffs are a nod to bands like Weezer. Vocals from Vaughn Sutterman and Zachary Miller leave you longing for the sunsets on the West Coast, as they long for the beaches of California. Check out “California” below via SoundCloud.

Alpha Hopper Release Music Video for “Unruly Jane”

Buffalo punk rockers, Alpha Hopper just came out with a new video for their song “Unruly Jane” off their last LP, Last Chance Power Drive. The new vid is full of trippy visuals filmed by the band. Things open up with a pan up of each band member with intercuts of the action in between that ramps up, getting quicker and quicker as the video nears the end. Behind the band is projected a series of visuals that are sure to stay with you. The combo of surreal visuals and the music brings it all together. Anyone not already familiar with Alpha Hopper should definitely keep them on your radar. Their record, Last Chance Power Drive is full of gripping, fast paced noise/post-punk. Matt Pond PA – “A Spark”

Most of us who grew up worshipping the 2000s indie-rock scene should be familiar with the unique sound of matt pond PA. After premiering his irreverent first single a few months ago, we’re happy to share that he’s back at it again with his next single, “A Spark.” Beyond Pond’s penchant for shimmery indie rock songwriting, the video showcases a strange juxtaposition between a tour van and an upside down party, something you’ll have to see for yourself. Check it out below. Still Summer is going to be the last album under the moniker matt pond PA… But fear not Pond fans, he’s not done writing music. Still Summer will be out August 11.

Randomstar – “Away”

Randomstar is a one-man EDM project out of Finland who hit us up recently with news of his new EP. Said EP contains the song “Away,” an over-before-you-know-it, one-two punch that pays homage to old-school electronica masterminds (like Daft Punk) via new-school EDM vibes. The song truly sucks you into a voyage and before you know it, you’re grooving along to his entire EP. Add it to your Spotify playlist.

Parker’s Back – “Be Mine”

Four-piece alt rock band Parker’s Back’s zesty single “Be Mine” knows how to give a compliment and still pack a punch. Staying true to some indie/punk influence, the band confesses affection with grungy guitar lines and wailing vocals. They manage to wear their hearts on their sleeves and come out sounding too cool to care. The track’s span of under 2 minutes keeps things short and sweet, while supplying as much energy as a 5-minute rager. TRASH – “81”

The UK lo-fi rockers in TRASH recently released their spunky single “81” from their upcoming self titled EP. The foursome pair reverb drenched vocals with fuzzy rhythm guitars and an ethereal synth chorus. “81” is an ode to refusing to grow old or take anything for granted, and there’s a certain sense of triumph and luminosity to be found in every note, as if the song itself is a celebration of life. The rest of the EP promises similar motivational gusto, as the band incorporates messages to their past, present, and future selves. TRASH’s release is set for August 11th via Clue Records, but for now soak up some sunny rays with “81” below. The Exit Sound – “You and Me”

Los Angeles based producer The Exit Sound dropped “You and Me” off his recent EP Space, Time, and Other Love Stories. There is a nice mixture of production values on the track, which comes from being rooted in new wave and indie pop. Newer synths and drum beats come together with more traditional sounds like the looping guitar riff on the track.
