Sydney indie-pop duo EGOISM are no strangers to buffaBLOG – their 2019 banger “What Are We Doing?” was one of our fav tracks of the year. They’re back again with “Here’s the Thing,” another perfect showcase of the duo’s smart and surprisingly intimate indie pop connection. “Thing” is full of subtle vocal flourishes, warbly guitar strumming, and catchy piano plinking; it’s perfect for any-mood listening. Qwiet Type – “Ferris Wheel”

We’ve been jamming out hard to this latest EDM-flavored electropop hit from Qwiet Type. “Ferris Wheel” shows off Qwiet Type’s penchant for songwriting and production, blending EDM sentiment with good-old-fashioned pop hooks. Beyond being the central hook, “Ferris Wheel” really does sound like the kind of jam that would be blasting good vibes while you’re at the apex of a carnival ride. Jordana – “Divine”

Yo – Jordana is here with some truly infectious indie pop vibes. “Divine” comes out swinging by namechecking Phoenix for some immediate indie cred… But beyond that, “Divine” is a well-crafted pop jam with an impressively nimble bassline and a unique percussion track. The cherry-on-top is Jordana’s lilting delivery, which ebbs and flows perfectly with the quiet/loud intensity of the verses and choruses. We think you’re gonna like this one – check it out below. Dead Emerson – “Sucker Punch”

Big indie pop vibes from Dead Emerson here on “Sucker Punch.” Emerson is truly a one-man-show – writing and producing everything you hear here, often in the solitude of his LA bedroom studio. Solo-act or not, it seems to be working… “Sucker Punch” is irresistible; it’s full of frantic drums, jittery guitar energy, and big synth blasts, all of which are perfect for modern indie radio play and repeat listens. JW Francis – “Good Time”

BuffaBLOG mainstay JW Francis is at it again, this time with his latest jam, “Good Time.” The Oklahoma-born, Paris-raised, NYC-based singer/songwriter specializes in delightfully warbly bedroom pop with a warped-vinyl aesthetic. “Good Time” is another gem in his repertoire, full of AM-radio guitar twinkles, gauzy synths, and a sun-soaked mentality disguising the bit of melancholy that colors his lyrics. The Internet – “Following the Logic”

California group the Internet (no not that one) is back with an easy going new single “Following the Logic” Since forming in 2010, the group has shifted its lineup and sound, moving away from its early shoegaze beginnings to a revised dreamlike pop vibe. Tailor-made for an end of summer playlist, the band’s first offering of new music since its 2019 album Semicolon Forward Slash is a breezy, lo-fi number that somehow finds a comfy middle ground between Ariel Pink and the Sea and Cake. oddnesse – “Summer’s Almost Over”

Indie-pop artist oddnesse has delivered an appropriately titled new track “Summer’s Almost Over” just before the season turns over. The wistful number is a nice addition to the post-chillwave cannon as slinky guitar lines and warm synths give the single a soothing retro vibe.  Fans of acts like TOPS and Springtime Carnivore should all hear something that they dig in the track. “Summer’s Almost Over” is just another highlight in what has been a rather busy year for oddnesse. Ahli – “Ghost”

New to the scene pop artist Ahli recently shared their latest single “Ghost.” The follow up to the act’s debut offering “Past Life,”  “Ghost” finds Ahli delivering a reflective number that recalls acts like Flock of Dimes, Maggie Rogers and even Regina Spektor. Fusing elements of hip hop and electro, the beat-driven track is a raw and passionate slice of dream-pop. Both singles will be featured on Ahli’s forthcoming freshman EP. Good Kid – “Drifting”

The spirit of early 2000s indie rock is very much alive in the latest offering from Canadian act Good Kid. “Drifting,” the third single shared by the Toronto indie four-piece this year, is a bouncy slice of pop-rock that will most certainly leave you bobbing your head. Hoofa – “Brother”

UK indie act Hoofa continues to pump out the singles this year with the recent release of “Brother.” The bouncy, nostalgia-dripping track is a great sunny entry to summer’s final days of music. Retro melodies and a strong falsetto make the track sound like Temper Trap goes jangle-pop. Ferdishenko – “Vanishing Spark”

Aukland-based experimental act Ferdishenko has shared its first slice of music with the debut single “Vanishing Spark.” With a building groove and an impending sense of dread, the hypnotic track is a fantastic blend of meticulous Krautrock beats and Radiohead’s atmospheric menace, and would not have sounded out of place on Ed O’Brien’s recent record Earth. Ellyn Woods – “Tangerine”

Recent House of Youth signee Ellyn Woods has shared her debut track “Tangerine.” Hailing from Montreal, the dreamy singer/songwriter kicks off the woozy track with a slinky intro and wispy vocals which initially recalls fellow Canadian act Rhye. The song will eventually switch gears as synth-pop textures lift the chorus to glittery new heights. The track will be included on an upcoming EP from Woods. Honor Scouts – “Subterranean Feels”

West Coast indietronic pair Honor Scouts, or hs., recently shared its radio-ready new single “Subterranean Feels.” The track, which appears to be a part of an upcoming collection of new music called Magic Realism, finds the Southern Oregon bred alt-pop outfit fusing elements of rock, dance and electro beats. Never reaching the bombastic levels it lazily could have, the subtle restraint is certainly welcome. “Subterranean Feels” genre-hops with the best of them, recalling some of alternative rock’s current heavy hitters, as well as an indie-leaning act like Local Natives. Kaio Mars – “All I Need”

Here’s the sunny, swimmy debut single from singer/songwriter Kaio Mars, “All I Need.” Kaio Mars is otherwise known as Aidin Sadeghi; Sadeghi was born in Germany to Iranian parents fleeing post-revolution Iran. About “All I Need,” Mars says: “[‘All I Need’] serves as a reminder of what draws people to music in the first place and to embrace our individual experiences for the unique treasures that they are rather than trying to conform to some imaginary standard purported by a white-dominated industry.” Beyond it’s powerful message, “All I Need” is a super catchy indie pop jam with reverb-drenched goodness in every morsel. Tobias Dray – “Baddest (feat. Abel)”

Electronica producer Tobias Dray nailed it on his latest banger, “Baddest.” Driven by a sassy and sultry vocal performance from Abel, “Baddest” is funky and groovy with a distinctly 2020s tinge. That being said, we can’t help but feel some nostalgic and infectious 90s pop influence on this one (eat your heart out Mariah Carey).
