Tuarrah – “Horizon’s Brow”

Two dudes and an enigmatic (and anonymous) lead signer from Boston make up the mysterious collective Tuarrah. After bonding over a mutual love of D’Angelo, Radiohead and Björk, the trio got together and created “Horizon’s Brow,” our latest recommendation. Combining blippy percussion with gentle accompaniments and a distinct vocal delivery, this jam is truly the sum of its influences. Snag “Horizon’s Brow” via iTunes. Crystal Cities – “Who’s Gonna Save Us Now”

Crystal Cities is an Australian trio that has spent the last year holed up in their buddy’s garage, getting sweaty and writing dark, dream-pop tunes. We recommend their latest single, “Who’s Gonna Save Us Now,” the title-track of their latest EP. This track simmers all the way through, combining sparkly guitars with a frantic rhythm section and forlorn vocals. If you like it, you can purchase “Who’s Gonna Save Us Now” here. Headphone Hair – “Bleeding Game”

Headphone Hair is the moniker of Ian Walters, a 6th grade History and Science teacher from Oakland. Outside of the classroom, his passion is music, and we dig his latest single “Bleeding Game.” It caught our ears for his hushed falsetto (a la Bon Iver) and use of left-field instrumentals like xylophone and trombone… Plus, it was all recorded in his classroom in one marathon session (and sounds pretty killer regardless). If you’re feeling generous, you can contribute to Bleeding Game’s Kickstarter here.

Rich List – “Esha Ness”

A little bit of history for y’all – Esha Ness was the name of a race horse that ran the second-fastest time in history, and famously “won” a race that never was. Electro-pop activists Rich List have cleverly turned that experience into a metaphor for the human condition… But we dig it for its retro stylings and clever use of 80s-style synth work. Fans of the 1980s, Duran Duran or Tears for Fears will like this one. “Esha Ness” is available via a variety of formats. B O K E H – “Don’t Leave The Fire”

We think you should check out B O K E H (sic), the alter-ego for Berlin-based solo artist Chloë Lewer. The video for “Don’t Leave The Fire” is a glorious look at what might be a dancefloor/go-kart track hybrid, juxtaposing shots of B O K E H racing around the track with segments of her marching around with her squad. Beyond the epic video, B O K E H specializes in electropop tunes with a distinct nod to the 1980s influences – we think you’ll dig it a lot. If you like this song, support it by following this link.

Evan Wize – “Bad Habits”

“Bad Habits” has been a hit at the buffaBLOG offices lately, and for good reason. Evan Wize is an electropop whiz kid from Philadelphia. We recommend the sultry groove of his latest song, “Bad Habits.” Wize combines mysterious chords and menacing funk-bass with accessible lyrics and a pop-minded approach… All in all, a worthwhile listen. Give Evan a follow on Instagram too. Wyldest – “The Poet”

We’re over here grooving to the latest dream pop jam from London power trio, Wyldest. Swirly guitars, hushed vocals, and a deeply groovy drum beat permeate this track… This is one of those jams that isn’t an outright dance banger, but still gets your body moving in its own, understated way. Fans of Warpaint and Blonde Redhead will definitely jive with this one. Be sure to add “The Poet” to your Spotify playlist too. Tonight: Matt Pryor & Dan Andriano

Tonight, two legendary musicians are swinging through Buffalo on their acoustic, co-headlining tour. You may recognize Matt Pryor for his role as front man for Kansas emo pioneers The Get Up Kids. Co-headliner Dan Andriano is the bassist for the equally-influential punk rock outfit Alkaline Trio. Together, they’re touring the country playing acoustic sets that are sure to span both musicians’ impressive catalogs. They’re also offering a tour-exclusive 7″ that they’ve put out together (featuring a collaborative cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Cecelia” – check it out below). Stress Dolls‘ Chelsea O’Donnell will be kicking off the evening tonight. Tonight’s show is at 8:00pm at the 9th Ward at Babeville. Tickets are $15 pre-show and $18 at the door.

SNBRN & BLU J – “You Got Me (ft. Cara Frew)”

Mmmm, nothing like a good house jam to kick off the weekend. LA producer SNBRN teamed up with fellow producer BLU J and songstress Cara Frew to put together “You Got Me,” a catchy and hard-hitting slice of West Coast house. Frew’s voice floats beautifully overtop SNBRN and BLU J’s groove heavy production work. “You Got Me” is available on iTunes. we are, et al. – “A Burlesque Chorale”

If you’re in the mood for some ambient alterna-rock, we recommend the mysteriously-named we are, et al. and their new song, “A Burlesque Chorale.” The San Francisco collective is self-described as “world rock,” and brings to mind other acts like Bjork, Anathallo, and Freelance Whales. We were drawn in by their simmering intro and otherwise chill-out vibes. If you like it, head over to Bandcamp for a download. Killer Dale – “Under Control”

This one goes out to the lovers of slacker rock… Killer Dale dusted off their four-track recorder during a hot and wet New Orleans summer. What resulted was “Under Control,” a beautifully “sloppy” (their words) jam that “perfectly captures the time and place that it was birthed.” This one has the kind of lo-fi vibes that are too perfect to be intentional – you have to hear it to believe it. For fans of Whitney and Mac Demarco. If you haven’t sunk too deep into your couch yet, check them out on Bandcamp too. Wolf Saga – “Keep Dancing”

After a year of inactivity, synthpop artist Wolf Saga is back with a vengeance. “Keep Dancing” is true to its title – the song features an utterly danceable beat and pop melodies for days. “Keep Dancing” has vibes that remind us of Foster the People, DNCE, and Grouplove… Give it a listen below. “Keep Dancing” is on iTunes if you’re diggin’ it. Alex Napping – “You’ve Got Me”

Dang! We are very much enjoying the new single from Brooklyn/Austin hybrid act Alex Napping. Fans of Hop Along, Angel Olson, or Courtney Barnett will be into this one – the band combines expressive guitar lines with neurotic drum beats and an angelic, female-fronted vocal delivery. Keep an eye out for their next release, Mise En Place, due out May 5th. “You’ve Got Me” is available via a plethora of services. The Homesick – “Half Aryan”

We’re happy to shed some light on this noisy trio from Holland – The Homesick have crafted a slick noise-pop single that immediately caught our attention. “Half Aryan” is menacing and catchy all at once, combining angular guitar and bass riffs with mysterious, reverbed vocals. If you’re feeling it, add “Half Aryan” to your Spotify playlist. WHARVES – “Man You Want Me To Be”

Austrailian quartet WHARVES are no stranger to buffaBLOG – we dug their last single, “It’s You.” This time around, they’re continuing their trend of excellent psych-tinged alternative rock with their latest offering, “Man You Want Me To Be.” Fans of Beck, Two Door Cinema Club, or WAVVES will be into their wharped take on indie rock (see what we did there?). WHARVES are on iTunes – snag a single or two while you’re at it.
