Florence, Italy native Lorenzo Landini, who has been writing his own music since he was 15, took on a positive challenge with his newest LP titled Wins Above Replacement. As he does with most of his discography, he based this album on the topic of sports along with not feeling okay with your own achievements. Recently, his songwriting capabilities have been diminished from the passing of his late mother, but now, he’s turning that grief back into the artistic form of his music – a very difficult, yet special obstacle to overcome. You can very clearly hear this in his debut album titled A moving spectacle for compassionate minds, in which it’s not so much about grieving, but instead, how to use that grief to grow in every direction you possibly can. His lyricism in open mindedness lets his fans know that it’s okay to feel demotivated at times. Doing this opens a door for Lorenzo’s fans to be let in as he provides a sense of clarity and closure. His riffs on the acoustic guitar are pleasing and amiable and provide a sense of warmth along with the soft, sensational drums that make you feel that sense of closure.

The track “Serena Fucking Williams” serves as the outro track to the 9 song LP “Wins Above Replacement”. With a voice that carries both vulnerability and resilience, this virtuoso paints an honest portrait of the human struggle. At the minute and a half point through the track his vulnerability shows as he says, “I’ve hit rock middle, my potential there it goes.” Lorenzo’s choice of words encapsulates the overwhelming weight of stagnation, exploring the depths of self-doubt and the battle against a dwindling flame of inspiration. Each melodic line resonates with a poignant sincerity, capturing the essence of Lorenzo’s journey through the shadows of doubt. Creating this type of music, he offers a cathartic release, inviting listeners to join him in acknowledging and navigating the challenges of feeling disheartened. One of the best elements based on his lyricism is the soreness sound that comes from his voice. His captivating vocals and evocative storytelling create a profound connection, reminding us that even in the face of adversity, the flame within can still be reignited.

The project was released on May 22, 2023 and you can find it on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and Bandcamp. Lorenzo’s music capabilities create a cathartic journey that embraces the beauty and healing power of embracing our emotions.
