Tailor Made Festival at Canalside (09/02/17)

This past Saturday, Fanbassador threw it’s inaugural Tailor Made Festival at Canalside.   The festival featured local acts Bill $aber and Dolo Chillin, as well as countless touring acts, including Smokepurpp, Waka Flocka Flame, Keys N Krates, DVBBS, 2 Chainz, and Travis Scott.  Even with the unfortunate cancellation of one act, PNB Rock, as well as a temporary loss of power on stage, stellar sets from all of the acts made the festival one of the more memorable shows at Canalside this year.  Check out some photos from the day below, shot by blog photographer, Brendan O’Connor. Travis Scott – Rodeo

I have decided that I am going to create an award for the album that I am happiest that I didn’t overlook this year, just so I can preemptively give it to Travis Scott’s new album, Rodeo. Up until this point, I have been wildly unimpressed by the “new Atlanta” style of hip hop, as popularized by artists such as Migos, ILoveMakonnen, Young Thug, and Future, to name a few, and despite Scott hailing from Houston, the sound used on Rodeo is unmistakably similar. While there is no doubt that these artists do have massive potential on singles, their full length efforts have left too much to be desired in artistry and lyrical content. Surprisingly, this is far from the case on Rodeo.   Without even listening to the record, if you take a look at the list of producers on the record, it is stacked with production talent like[...]

Tonight: Young Thug

Southern drawlin’ straight from the ATL, Young Thug kickstarted his career when he signed over to Gucci Mane’s 1017 Brick Squad Records. The Rich Gang track “Lifestyle” is what really spiked Young Thug’s career, as well as becoming one of the most viral references on Vine. 1017 Thug, his fourth mixtape, was the first release of his on the label. His single, “Stoner,” became widely-known, additionally winning Best Club Banger for the BET Hip Hop Awards last year. Young Thug has become known for his eccentricity and style. Slurring words, his tracks sometimes become mysterious puzzles in and of themselves. It’s definitely safe to say that there aren’t many rappers out there like Young Thug. On his Rodeo Tour, Young Thug will be performing tonight in Buffalo along with Houston-native Travi$ Scott.
