Tonight: Coral Collapse

Nietzsche’s is the best place to be tonight if you are looking for new music. Come out and celebrate two new releases, Don’t Wait To See Me Say Goodbye from Coral Collapse and Shapes of Color from M.T. Lakes. Needless to say, it’s going to be a great time. Joining them are Buffalo’s “animal rock” experts Bold Folly, as well as the humble, soft-spoken offerings from The Shallows. Tonight: The Leones

9th Ward at Babeville has a heavy duty lineup of local rock talent all about laying down serious vibes, featuring The Leones, The Shallows and First Ward. No strangers to that space, Justin Bachulak’s widescreen psych rock  project The Leones will be playing new material from their upcoming summer release that leans into dream pop territor. Expect some serious feels when Dustin Lau’s expansive guitar and the otherworldly rhythm section of Will Webb and Kevin Carney  interweaves with Bachaluk’s evocative synths and vocals, and the acoustic wonder of the room itself to possibly overwhelm the senses. Nietzsche’s is holding the line tonight against the existential threat of the invading  lunkheads with a strong lineup of in your face but smart as hell local rock featuring the always satisfying Sonny Baker Band, The Eaves, TVMTN and the Shallows. One of the hardest working musicians in Buffalo, Sonny is the sound of the city we wish it really was, and tonight he’s getting the whole band together to play some original tunes and possibly some interesting covers because they are good like that. The Shallows Release First Single

Members of local bedroom folk acts Heave and Oats Holy Roller have teamed up to form a new group, The Shallows. In anticipation of their debut album, Hold Out For Love, they’ve released their first single. Titled “joan + lily” it’s an excellent foray into delicate and heartfelt Americana. Recorded at Sunwood Recording Studios in, Trumansburg, NY, “joan + lily” pairs multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Emily Finlan of heave with singer-songwriter Joe Myers of Oats Holy Roller. The song is a gorgeous modern folk ballad that chronicles two people who’ve grown apart, getting away from it all and working with your hands, and the feelings associated with trying to piece together a new life. Myers’ low gravelly voice and storyteller prose are the bedrock here, with Finlan providing ethereal backing vocals and haunting cello that gracefully adorn the compositional surface.
