Tonight: Sunday Brunch

Don’t be confused when you see the words “Sunday Brunch” – despite what it may seem, buffaBLOG is still a music-based blog (sorry foodies). The Sunday Brunch we’re referring to is actually a Buffalo-based post-hardcore quartet specializing in cathartic, gravely-voiced jams via their latest offering, the aptly-named Eat Your Heart Out. They’re sharing the stage tonight with Philly alt-rockers Slophouse and the space-case indie rock duo sheds. Milkie’s is the place to be tonight. Bring $5 and show up at 8pm to catch all the music. Tonight: Herd Fest Day 2

After a successful night one of Herd Fest where we saw Sammus take the crowd in the palm of her hand and Award Show burst our eardrums, we are psyched to continue on to night two. Mohawk Place starts early at 6pm with loop artist Griffin! and indie folk singer Kerry Fey playing Happy Hour. If you are there before 8pm, there is no cover and $2 PBRs and $2 off all drafts. Doors start at 7:30pm with a $7 cover. Slotted to open the night is atmospheric producer qwelis, followed by raw indie rock act Jack, and Rochester slackrockers Big Fred. At 10pm, soaring synth rock act Humble Braggers hits the main stage followed by up-and-coming indie rockers Nylon Otters, cavernous experimental rock act Bold Folly and  hip hop wordsmith Dean Chatham capping of the night. Tonight: Pappy Stardust

Tonight Buffalo’s newest psychedelic guru Pappy Stardust celebrates the release of his latest CD All Around Sound with Tomoreaux, Mooses side project Moody Cosmos, and Buffalo dream pop outfit SHEDS. The brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Steve Leszyk, Pappy Stardust has emerged as a supremely bold and experimental force for mind expansion, like the entire lineup for tonight’s show at Sugar City, and All Around Sound is a definitely a journey into out there sounds. Tonight: CRUISR

Tonight, Philadelphia-based indie-pop quartet, CRUISR, will be making a stop at The Studio at the Waiting Room. Signed to Vagrant Records (The 1975,  School of Seven Bells), CRUISR has achieved quite the buzz, scoring exclusive features on internet suckhole Buzzfeed, Daytrotter, and All Things Go. Fans of Architecture in Helsinki, Royal Tongues, or Joywave should plan on pounding dinner pretty early tonight. CRUISR will be supporting Detroit garage-disco act Flint Eastwood, with local support from the majestic SHEDS and electropop voices. $10 cover with early doors at 6:30pm. Tonight: Parade Chic

Tonight, the night before America’s unofficial/official faux national holiday, the Studio at the Waiting Room will be hosting a hot lineup featuring some of Western New York’s most compelling bands: futuristic lo-fi rockers Parade Chic, dream pop New Wavers Smarthouse, SHEDS, the pride of Lancaster, and the Buffalo via Rochester weirdness of Unisex. $8 gets you into this all ages show, which starts early by Buffalo standards with doors at 6:30pm, making this ideal for getting Super Bowl LXVVI Eve (it’s official) started right.

SHEDS Release Debut Video

It’s no secret that the blog has been recently drooling over Lancaster-based act, SHEDS. With that being said, we were more than pumped to get a hold of the band’s debut music video for the song “HPBG” or high pressure basketball game. The video is very true to the title, clipping select moments from various intense NBA games and slicing them in a very dreamy direction. SHEDS is currently working on their upcoming full-length with an aim for a spring release, but I’m sure you can check back here as soon as there are any developments. SWISH.

The glory of the the DIY/ House venue is the element of surprise. Sometimes you are lucky if you know more than two bands. Then there’s the out-of-town band. But there is always that variable, that one band that no one knows shit about. SHEDS is one of those bands. SHEDS just played their first show earlier this month at the Glitter Box. “We were kind of removed from the live music scene for about a year,” guitarist Patrick McPinic says, “during which we holed up every weekend to play music. We really enjoyed all of the bands at the Glitter Box show.” SHEDS consists of a trio of Lancaster natives: McPinic, Justin Young (guitar/vocals), and Jason Overholt (drums).
