Tonight: SMUG

Local pop punk trio SMUG are celebrating their return tonight  on a jam-packed bill at Nietzsche’s. The band has been busy since the release of their debut full-length Gorgeous, which came out at the tale end of 2018, recently returning from a twelve-date east coast tour as well as wrapping up a successful college radio campaign. Joining these rascals will be grunge rock re-imaginists Ugly Sun, riot grrrl up-and-and comers Party’s Over, and the second ever revealing of somber indiemo act Wild Once. Doors are at 9pm with an $8 cover.

Yace Booking continues their streak of incredible line ups with a stacked bill tonight at Mohawk Place. Talented Buffalo groups Hundred Plus Club, The Burkharts, and Award Show round out the lineup, featuring a special set from lo-fi Brooklyn bedroom-poppers Dogs in Stereo. Queen City Music Lottery-born Party’s Over will be bringing the show home with their fun, post-party rock. Tonight’s doors open at 8pm. Mohawk Place is the place to be – bring $7.

Tonight: Sugar City’s 10th Anniversary Party with Calvin Johnson

Sugar City, the city’s only remaining DIY arts and performance space is celebrating ten years of existence in both the material and immaterial worlds tonight with two parties, an excellent lineup featuring friend of Sugar City, indie rock hero Calvin Johnson, and you beautiful people. It’s been quite the adventure for Sugar City since it’s grassroots founding back in 2008, existing first in the hearts and minds of it’s early organizers and supporters, then in a magical physical space on Wadsworth at the base  of Allentown, where magical things happened… before being gentrified out and/or beset upon by unfriendly forces, depending on who you’re talking to. Then it was back to the whole hearts and minds thing as Sugar City regrouped, staging events around the city and keeping the flame alive until an unsolicited grant from Robert Rauschenberg’s foundation put enough wind in their sails to land another wonderful space on[...]

Tonight: Comfy

Philadelphia (ex-Utica) quartet Comfy will be visiting Buffalo tonight for a night of debauchery and music. Their latest offering, Thanks For The Ride, is certainly a 2018 buffaBLOG favorite, and we are happy to welcome the relocated act back to Buffalo with open arms. Joining them is fellow buffaBLOG all-star Sonny Baker, Philly bedroom-popper Jacob Crofoot, and hometown post-party act, Party’s Over. Tonight’s show is at Milkie’s. Tonight: Big Huge

Super fun Brooklyn glam punks Big Huge make a welcome return to the Queen City tonight at the newly air conditioned Sugar City with Sofa Kingz, Party’s Over and DJ Fluffybody. Their show last August was a bonafide, life affirming gas, so you don’t want to miss this one, and with up and coming local indie pop outift The Sofa Kingz and Queen City Music Lottery survivors  Party’s Over representing for the area with some tight beats from DJ Fluffybody it’s going to be a good party.
