Tonight: Izzy True

Originally from Ithaca, Izzy True is no stranger to Buffalo.  They have not been back to Buffalo area since their relocation from Ithaca to Chicago, so heading to Sugar City for their show tonight would be a good way to spend your Friday night. They haven’t dropped any new tunes since the release of Nope. on Don Giovanni Records last year, so expect to hear a bunch from their back catalog, and who knows, maybe some new ones? Iowa City based experimental sax driven act, Curt Oren, will also be doing a set.  Jack and MORBS will be providing the local talent. Doors open for the show at Sugar City at 6pm.  While there is no cost listed in the facebook event, I’d bring around $5-$10 to support the touring musicians.  Keep in mind that Sugar City is an alcohol and drug free venue, and is also all ages.

Tonight: Full Body

Rochester’s Full Body will be cruising down the 90 to Dreamland tonight.  After playing multiple shows in Rochester which hosted some Buffalo favorites, the indie fuzz rock four piece finally returns to Buffalo.  Local talent includes the raucous pop tinged garage rock ac, MORBS, NYC turned Buffalo solo act, Jack, and the show will be closed out by the fuzzed out emo four piece, Cooler. Music is set to kick off at 8pm, and the cover charge is only $5.  Dreamland once again provides you with a very solid option to make your Friday night a good one. Smart Martian by Full Body

Tonight: Rock A Mile In Her Shoes

Tonight one of the best fundraisers in Buffalo returns as Babeville once again hosts the 3rd Annual Rock A Mile In Her Shoes show featuring The Slums, Morbs, Erica Wolfing, Del Paxton, and M.A.G.S.. The show benefits the Crisis Services Advocate Program which provides 24/7 support to victims of domestic and sexual abuse while working to reduce violence and to make our community a safer place. This year’s show brings together local heavyhitters The Slums, Del Paxton and Morbs with ethereal chanteuse Erica Wolfing and indie pop act M.A.G.S. for a night of crushing riffs, solidarity, love, respect, and fellas rocking in high heels (fellas in the audience who want to rock some heels in solidarity are encouraged to do so if the spirit moves them). Tickets are $10, doors are at 7pm with fun set for 8pm..

Morbs – s/t

Eric Ellman is a pretty busy guy in the current local scene. In the past six months he’s pumped out two Green Slime releases and now with the help of his cohorts Emily Churco, Mike Herman and Rona Eliyahu, Ellman has revealed the self-titled debut for Morbs. The 10 track debut which clocks in just under 20 minutes was recorded by Matt Chase and mixed and mastered by John Angelo. The self-titled debut from the Queen City garage-punk outfit comes out of left field. It’s hard to determine what stands out more, is it the stripped down pure adrenal gland capsule that is Ellman’s guitar? Or is it the vocals of Churco? Churco’s lips are fast moving even when they are stuck in traffic, like on the slower tracks “Co-Pilot” and “Made of Bones”. Even on these songs her vocals seem to still be moving at the speed of light. However,[...]

Tonight: No Parents

Dreamland is set to play host for touring punkrockers No Parents for an undoubtably raucous Monday night. The Los Angeles-based act is touring in support of their new 7″ Chix in LA. You might have caught their set when they rode into town last fall sharing a bill with White Fang at Mohawk Place, or last spring when they opened for Bleached also at Mohawk Place.  Also on the bill are two fresh punk bands to the local scene MORBS and The Gennies. It’s an early one with doors at 7pm. There’s no advertised cover, but pack some extra Lincolns for the touring band and merch.
