Five Buffalo Acts We Want to Reunite in 2025

We’ve taken the office Christmas tree down and it’s back to business over here at blog headquarters. 2024 had its ups and downs with the local scene. We launched buffaBLOG version 4.0, witnessed the usual band break-ups/venue closings, but also saw the emergence of new artists that we are excited to listen to and share. With that, we’ve brainstormed Buffalo musicians that we would like to see reunite in 2025. We understand some of these may be a pipe dream, but think of this as more of a fantasy draft rather than an open letter.  Don’t get us wrong however, if any of these acts return in 2025, we are taking full credit. A wishlist for acts we would like to see reunited in 2025 would not be complete without the kookiest rapper of the[...]

Humble Braggers Reveal New Single

Humble Braggers are diving head first into 2017, announcing earlier this week the Buffalo-based trio will be releasing their first full length album I Know Better, I’m No Better on March 10th. Along with the album announcement, the band dropped the lead single off of the album “Weight,” an M83-y sprawling indie pop song with lyrics about dealing wth anxiety and overcoming that feeling. As we’ve come to expect from the band, “Weight” is a big sound banger. Humble Braggers will be celebrating their release on Friday, March 10th with support from touring UK indie-pop act Chad Valley, local baroquers dreambeaches, and the first performance of ex-Sleepy Haha’s frontman Pat Butler’s new project, Bottler. Put ht at in your calendar and in the meantime check out “Weight” below. Tonight: La Sera w/ Springtime Carnivore

Earlier this year, Katy Goodman and Greta Morgan teamed up to release the whimsical covers album Take It, It’s Yours. The record is a breezy collection of reimagined punk tracks by the likes of the Replacements, Bad Brains, the Misfits, the Stooges, and more. Tonight, the pair of LA musicians will bring its respective bands – La Sera and Springtime Carnivores – to town for a performance at Mohawk Place. Formally of the Vivian Girls, Goodman has spent the last five years evolving her La Sera sound from lo-fi garage pop to twangy country. Her most recent album Music For Listening Music To was released this past March and was recorded by alt-country heart breaker Ryan Adams. As for Morgan, Springtime Carnivore returned this fall with the well-received sophomore album The Midnight Room. The front woman and crew nearly stole the show when opening for Father John Misty at Town Ballroom last summer[...]

Tonight: Neko Case

Despite a couple of area gigs with Canadian power-pop act the New Pornographers over the years, local fans have been patently waiting Neko Case to make a return to town after a rain soaked day canceled her scheduled performance for Thursday at the Square in 2009. And after nearly seven years, the alt-country spitfire will finally grace a Buffalo stage later on this evening at Babeville’s Asbury Hall. Touring in support of her career spanning, vinyl box set Truckdriver Gladiator Mule, a collection of her eight studio albums from early works with backing band, Her Boyfriends, to 2014’s well received The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You, the powerhouse singer/songwriter has a mighty deep catalog to pick from for her eager fans tonight. Case marks fantastic booking for the Delaware venue in what has been a hard to beat calendar[...]
