Must See Shows (11/6/24-11/12/24)

Thursday, November 7th @ 7pm Cursive w/ Gladie @ Rec Room Legendary Omaha indie rock act Cursive returns this Thursday for a trip down memory lane, much to the delight western New York’s aging scenesters.  Cursive broke through to many fans with 2003’s critically acclaimed album The Ugly Organ. The album has influenced thousands of projects and has been a mainstay in hundreds of thousands of fans playlists. Lead by Tim Kasher, the songs are brooding and angsty yet in a mature way that is self-reflective and poetic. Undoubtedly Cursive will sprinkle in tracks from The Ugly Organ, Domestica, and Burst and Bloom. If you’ve sat out on Cursive’s newest material, please catch yourself up because it’s on par with the past catalog which is both exciting and promising. Opening the bill will be Philadelphia indie act Gladie. $25 at the door + fees. Exeunt.  Devourer by Cursive Friday, November[...]

Cursive – “Barricades”

We think you’ll love the latest offering from legendary Omaha act, Cursive. “Barricades” is reminiscent of the lurching, turn-of-the-millenium emotion found on 2000’s Domestica, while still sounding fresh and relevant in 2019. Full of squelchy bass tones, spidery guitar lines, and Tim Kasher’s signature social-commentary-via-impassioned-howls, “Barricades” is full of discordant angst and energy… But Cursive has a way of sneaking just enough pop sentiment beneath the rickety surface of their songs to keep us coming back for more. Check it out below before you add it to your Spotify playlist.

Cursive – “Under the Rainbow”

Veteran and celebrated post-hardcore indie rockers, Cursive, are back after years of silence with the raucously nihilistic anthem, “Under the Rainbow.” Found on their upcoming studio LP, Vitriola, this isn’t so much a call to action as it is the venting of anger and frustration over the current state of affairs. Lead singer and guitarist, Tim Kasher, lashes out at income inequality on this particular track and clashes with grippingly melodic car crash instrumentals. Cursive is mad as hell and you’re going to hear about it in fantastic fashion below. Vitriola will be released October 5th and supported with a US winter tour. Check out dates on Cursive’s official Facebook here.

Tonight: Cursive

Following the deluxe reissue of their hugely popular album The Ugly Organ, indiemo heroes, Cursive, announced a spanning tour which reaches its near end at Mohawk Place tonight. Reviews from this tour have been nothing but positive. Opening the show will be first See Through Dresses, and then Beach Slang. If you caught Beach Slang last year at the Mohawk Place with Cheap Girls, you know that their set is not to be missed. Doors open at 8pm. If you did not snag tickets in advance, you’re out of luck. This show is completely sold out.

Just Announced: Cursive

Omaha heavyweights and indiemo staple, Cursive, is set to play Mohawk Place next year on Sunday, March 15th. The cult band will be touring in support of the expanded and deluxe reissue of its seminal, Saddle Creek released album, The Ugly Organ, a record that goes down as many a music elitists top 10, even top 5 releases of all time. The Ugly Organ was a catalyst for the emergence of indie rock, and Cursive would go on to become college radio legends. The upcoming tour will feature a variety of songs from the band’s seven album discography (we’re hoping more The Ugly Organ/Domestica select picks over Happy Hollow). I think we are good though, since the band states explicitly its are touring with a cellist. Tickets go on sale Friday, November 21st for $15 in advance, $17 day of at ticketmaster or at the Tralf Box Office. Exuent.
