Bottler – “You’re Old”

The truth is, Bottler got started before they put together electronic symphonies out of Brooklyn… Bottler really got started with Legos and lightsabers, and you can certainly hear it in their music, which brings whimsical soundwaves to life. I’d be lying if I said their latest single “You’re Old” didn’t make me spin around in my swivel chair three or four times while typing this. However, don’t let the deep concept of “You’re Old” fly over your head, the lyrics of the hook sing “You’re old, you’re gonna die” in the back of a bubbly electro-disco track to make you feel as if you’re dancing in purgatory. Perhaps it’s only right that such a dark message would be relayed by Bottler in some way you could vibe out to. Check out the video for “You’re Old” below – you can also find it on Spotify and Apple Music.

Recorded by Elliot (M.A.G.S., KIN) Douglas, there’s been a lot of buzz around this next step for Humble Braggers, so you’re definitely going to want to snap up I Know Better, I’m No Better to have it properly digested before the summer show season gets going. Bottler Drops Debut Single

It’s been roughly six months since Sleepy Hahas bid us adieu at their last live performance, but that long absence hasn’t been for naught. Pat Butler, former frontman of Sleepy, has been slowly unveiling a new pop-tronica project under the name Bottler. Bottler’s debut single “Phases” is an eruption of sound.  It’s somewhat of a heavy tune despite the ethereal disposition. It makes use of  thickly layered synths and a vocal melody that, interestingly, coerces your ear away from the accompaniment quite a bit. It’s an alluring tune, in that it hangs on some unexpected progressions and never feels fully resolved — which may turn out to be a pretty cool direction for this type of music if it’s executed with intention. Overall, I think Bottler holds immense potential to be a hook-driven treasure trove. Catch Bottler’s Buffalo debut on March 10th with Humble Braggers, Chad Valley, and dreambeaches, but in the meantime check out the single below.
