Must See Shows (8/27/25-9/2/25)

Thursday, August 28th @ 8pm

Darksoft @ Nietzsche’s

Multi-instrumental dream-pop act Darksoft brings life to Allen St.’s west end for a much needed adrenaline shot. Hailing from East Coast Portland, the band has a moody shoegaze vibe that is brooding and dreary in all the right ways. The band is touring in support of their 2025 release, Rationalism. Fans of Hibou, Beach Fossils, or Wild Nothing would be into this. Joining this Thursday ripper will be local dreamgaze acts Elemantra * and Previous Love. $10 cover.

Friday, August 29th @ 8pm

Metalachi @ Buffalo Iron Works

Sometimes a band gimmick just works. Mac Sabbath have their McDonalds horror cosplay; Here Comes the Mummies have the full body wraps; and locally, Well Worn Boot have their “wrong turn in Oklahoma” vibe. Metalachi has been riding similar waves, breaking out in the 2000s with their live stage show and unique re-imagination of songs from Metallica, Motorhead, and Black Sabbath with a mariachi spin. Julian Gill, of the Houston Chronicle writes: “Metalachi is not your mama’s mariachi band,” and we couldn’t describe it any better. $25.26 to get in.

Saturday, August 30th @ 10pm

Stacy Antonel @ Jack Rabbit

Nashville alt-country and Americana hybrid act Stacy Antonel makes a late night stop on Elmwood Ave Saturday night with a slot at Jack Rabbit. Antonel’s sound pays homage to early country music icons such as Patsy Cline with a modern evolution and some extra twang on it. The band is touring in support of their April 2025 EP, The Seahorses: Volume 1. If you are looking for a cross between Tori Amos and Otis Redding, then chug a Celsius at 9:40pm and head over. Plenty of parking on Bidwell. $5 cover.
