Spirits of Leo – “Eden”

Brooklyn-based Spirits of Leo pass on their latest single, “Eden,” a hypnotic, darkwave track off their upcoming album, Equinox, that will cast you under its spell and force you to put it on repeat. The song features drearily upbeat melodies and fuzzy, whispering vocals that creep into your eardrums and subconscious making for a hauntingly poppy and immersive listen. Dim the lights, relax in your favorite chair and check it out below. Equinox will be released March 23rd. Pre-order the album at Spirits of Leo’s Bandcamp here.

Callum Pitt – “Happiness”

Northeast England’s Callum Pitt has released “Happiness,” a tune that encapsulates its title superbly, bringing forth a cheery, endlessly ear-catching melody and sonorous background vocals. Similar in style to a more pop-oriented incarnation of Fleet Foxes, it’s an indie-folk song most fitting for a long, warm day (when days like that will return around this area is more questionable territory, but the point remains). After his breakout year, which included a steady rise in coverage and attendance at his shows, Callum Pitt is deservedly a singer-songwriter with immense potential going forward.

I Feel Fine – “Lifer”

Out of Brighton, rock band I Feel Fine crafts music quite unlike the Beatles song that shares their name. Their newly released tune “Lifer” is noisy but meticulous rock ‘n’ roll devoid of strict pop sensibilities, similar to a slice of Modest Mouse’s early catalog. Chugging guitars, a barrage of drums and angst-ridden vocals make up a large quantity of the song, with a loud-quiet dynamic appearing ever so sparsely but ever so perfectly throughout the track. These guys know how to keep a listener on edge and engaged—that’s for certain. Their full-length Long Distance Celebration, to be released through Failure By Design Records, is due out May 4. thanks. – “Loose Gun”

“Loose Gun,” a new song from Los Angeles-based alternative rock outfit thanks., is vibrant as can be—a short, sweet and pulsating burst of indie pop energy. Saturated simultaneously with a freewheeling attitude as well as reflections of oneself and the precious nature of time’s passage, “Loose Gun” is something to get you dancing or thinking, or potentially even both. Check out the tune, released through the label Highland Park, down below:

Alcabean – “Running”

Copenhagen four-piece, Alcabean, come to us with “Running,” a rambunctious lo-fi indie rock track that begs to be played at high volumes. Off their recently released EP, Head Down, the song features a clamorous combination of kinetic guitar riffs, dancy drums and high-energy vocals that will rev your heart rate and make you move. Give it a listen and rock out below. Be sure to stream Head Down either on Spotify here or SoundCloud here.

Palace Winter – “Empire”

Copenhagen-based alternative rock duo Palace Winter’s new tune “Empire” is couched in a remarkably full-sounding and embracing sound as well as a catchy-as-all-hell vocal melody. It sways around like a glorious classical overture blended with all the arena readiness of a Bruce Springsteen concoction and doused in the more modern, instrumentally layered touches of indie darlings like The War on Drugs. Palace Winter’s album Nowadays, their first full-length effort since 2016, is set for a release in May.

Pizzagirl – “Coffee Shop”

Liverpool-based electronic act Pizzagirl’s new jam “Coffee Shop” is a retro-soul delight to say the least. It possesses a chorus as infectious as it is simple, a trademark of that late ‘70s disco scene that alienated some in a heartbeat and attracted others at the same time. However, with a fresh, indie-tinged take on that wave of influence, it likely won’t steer many if any listeners away. In fact, beyond the attraction of listening to it with virgin ears, repeated listens are highly rewarding. It’s a challenge not to sing along once you catch on to the lyrics, or at least dance to it if you’re not ashamed of letting loose. Pizzagirl’s upcoming EP, fittingly titled An Extended Play and written, recorded and produced entirely by the artist in his home, is due out April 13.

Hobart Curtis – “Don’t Hate Me”

Australian singer-songwriter Hobart Curtis is a hook-master, case-in-point, his latest single “Don’t Hate Me.” An energetic indie-pop cut, “Don’t Hate Me” is laden with Killers-esque synth work with the 1975-style pop hooks. Packed full of themes of self-loathing and insecurity, Curtis wraps it all into a shiny bubble of washy guitars and driving bass – check it out below. Check out Curtis’ discog on Spotify.

Yoshi Flower – “Movies”

It’s hard not to pay attention when you come out swinging with a line like “lick me like a lolly,” but that’s exactly what Yoshi Flower did on his debut single, “Movies.” Touting an impossibly perfect blend of hip-hop, pop, and electronica elements, we think Yoshi is on to something here. His half-apathetic delivery is intoxicating, and pairs well with the powerful, elephant-esque synths that power the chorus. Check Yoshi out on IG.

Spielbergs – “We Are All Going To Die”

Epic? Anthemic? Any number of words could be used to describe the massive guitar-rock of Spielbergs and their latest offering, “We Are All Going To Die.” Channeling the fervor of bands like Japandroids or No Age, this Norwegian trio is raw and refreshingly energetic on pretty much every level. Keep your eyes peeled for their debut EP, due out April 27th. Until then, we have a feeling you’re going to binge on “We Are All Going To Die.” Add this one to your Spotify playlist – you know you want to!

Mating Ritual – “U + Me Will Never Die”

Raise your hand if you like drugs! Mating Ritual aren’t sure how they feel about drugs, but they’ve come to terms with it being a part of their life and they wrote a certified banger about it. “U + Me Will Never Die” is a perfect blend of 80s synthwave and post-punk. There’s something to be said about not being in your own mind for a bit… We suggest you let Mating Ritual take over for a sec and get lost in their pulsing beats. Mating Ritual’s next EP, Light Myself On Fire, comes out May 4, 2018 via Smooth Jaws.

Me Not You – “Chemical Cure”

“Chemical Cure” was written on a bad day… “A bad day for our country and our world,” according to synth-pop duo Me Not You. About wanting to lean heavily on chemical crutches to get through the day, their moody synth work in this song evokes feelings of sadness and looming fear. All the while, “Cure” somehow remains irresistibly dance-able. The chorus in particular is incredibly hooky – have a listen for yourself below. Peep their Bandcamp if you’re feeling it.

Ben Talmi – “The Fear of Missing Out”

For his latest release, Ben Talmi isolated himself for three weeks with just a guitar… He ended up writing Distractionism, upon which is the frantic lead single, “The Fear Of Missing Out.” The song is an ode to the modern anxieties brought on by technology and its effects on our interactions with each other… “Missing Out” definitely embodies that neurosis with its frantic electronic drums, which provide a jittery backbone for Talmi’s otherwise upbeat guitar-pop. Check out the music video here.

TyC – “GET DOWN (ft. Curly Chuck)”

Producer-Songwriter, TyC, joins forces with up-and-coming Cleveland emcee, Curly Chuck, and drops the visuals for their rowdy, new track, “GET DOWN.” It’s a production of rhythmic chaos and deadpan whackiness as Curly Chuck airs his grievances in silly putty flows and dynamic rhymes over an eclectic beat suffering a multiple personality disorder breakdown. Give it a watch below for a satisfying ear and eyeful that will leave your head spinning and wanting more. Head over to TyC’s SoundCloud here for more tracks.

Vaarwell – “Stay”

Critically acclaimed Portuguese electro-pop trio, Vaarwell, appear before us like an apparition with their latest dreamy single, “Stay.” Delicate, somber vocals float over a fizzy, shoegaze beat that blooms into an exhilarating chorus that sweeps you off your feet. Like an awing twilight sky, Vaarwell blends sadness with beauty to create a celestial track you’ll be listening to over and over again. Check it out below and drift on over to Vaarwell’s SoundCloud here for more tracks.
