Tonight: Protoculture

One of the most well-known names in trance will be brought to LiFT Nightclub tonight by the folks at Factory Nightlife. Nate Raubenheimer, better known as the South African trance powerhouse Protoculture, will take the decks for the entirety of the night with an extended six-hour set. With more than 10 years of experience, Protoculture is no stranger in the world of psy-trance, trance, and progressive styles. He has taken the international scene by storm, making his first international debut at the United Kingdom’s Glastonbury Music Festival in 2004. Tonight: Nitin

Although Toronto’s CODA will be missing Lee Foss on Saturday night’s lineup (due to circumstances beyond CODA’s control, as reported on the event page), some of the Canadian city’s own talents will be stepping up to the plate. Nitin, a globetrotting Toronto-based label owner, producer, and DJ will be taking some extra time on the decks. Beginning his career in London, Ontario, Nitin came to Toronto in 2005, joining up with Gem Events to bring a wide range of shows to the city.He partnered with Johnny White in 2008 and launched his record label, No.19 Music, and it has grown into a well-respected fixture for a new wave of dance music, signing tracks from the likes of Stacey Pullen, Maceo Plex, and Soul Clap just to name a few. Tonight: Igloo Unofficial MIA After Party

If you haven’t learned by now, the masterminds of Igloo Music refuse to let the party end before we’ve had a healthy dose of their old school vibes. Saturday night will be no different at their Music is Art after party, held at the ever-intimate Gypsy Parlor. The usual suspects (though not to be downplayed) of John Patrick and Rufus Gibson will be joined by an impressive lineup including Brandon Chase, Dharma Doctor, Xotec, and Swivel. Dharma Doctor, who is Chris B. of Dharma Lab, will be opening the evening from 10-11 p.m., bringing some psychedelic flavor to the dance floor. I assure you, his set is one you don’t want to miss.
