Tonight: Tyler Mendola

Milkie’s is set to feature three Buffalo-based musicians performing stripped down acoustic sets. Set to play tonight is Tyler Mendola, from the retro, psychedelic Deadwolf-pack. His music is sure to swoon, and his performance should shine new light upon what is typically expected of the frontman. Supporting Mendola are Yes Yes and Elliot Douglas (M.A.G.S.): Yes Yes (Michael Ersing) is a unique, Xiu Xiu-esque take on the singer-songwriter stance with and Elliot Douglas is a local garage rocker also turning to the face’s acoustic cheek. Word on the street is he may be doing some Malones covers. Doors are at 9pm and there is a $5 cover. Stream Deadwolf’s “Shine” below. Tonight: Yes Yes

A new pop-up space in the heart of Allentown is set to launch it’s inaugural showcase this evening. Dubbed The Modeling Factory, the space will host two stripped down acts, Yes Yes and Andrew Sblendorio. Sblendorio is a familiar face coming all the way from Utica. He plays double duty as part of frequent Buffalo-touring powerpop act, Comfy. His solo material is quite opposite, where he plays with atmospheric sounds as well as bleeps and bloops for fans of Brian Eno or Fourtet.  He will be joined by Alexis Aguam who will be helping with the visualization of Sblendorio’s music. Also on the bill is hyper-folk musician Mike “Yes Yes” Ersing. Yes Yes is a Buffalo-native, and has been in and out of the local scene for nearly a decade. Recently, Yes Yes was living in South Korea, working as a musician playing shows and festivals and exposing the native population to[...]

Yes YES Drops Latest Song “Korean girls”

Buffalo’s most interesting man, Michael Ersing (aka Yes YES), continues to make Korea his new home. The always fascinating folkie has been making the most of his time overseas, appearing on Korean shows Hey Rookie and BalconyTV over the past year, and just last week, Yes YES dropped his latest song, the understated “Korean girls.” Featuring a very Andrew Bird like whistling intro, a melancholy Ersing delivers a bare bones, Jeff Buckley-esque number. Give it a listen below.

YES YES Performs on BalconyTV

Eccentric Buffalo folk transplant, now Korean resident, YES YES (aka Michael Ersing), was recently featured on a Seoul roof top as part of BalconyTV, a daily online program featuring musicians and artists performing on balconies all over the world. Ersing, sounding rather Jeff Buckley, performed his pretty song, “Under An Umbrella With You,” under a sunny Korean sky. Bless the person working the subtitles for trying to keep up with the always fascinating Ersing while explaining his song to the eager host. Watch the live video for “Under An Umbrella With You” below.

Yes Yes Performs On EBS’ Hello Rookie

Buffalo’s favorite ex-pat folk singer, Yes Yes Michael Ersing, recently appeared on the September installment of Hello Rookie, a musical competition airing on Korean network, EBS. The monthly program pits musicians against each other for the chance to advance and appear on the television special,  EBS Space 공감, with the opportunity to win 1 million won, which is roughly $970. While Yes Yes sadly did not win (the money went to MAN and Wings of the ISANG), the program certainly provided the relocated musician a great opportunity to showcase his unique brand of folk.
