Tonight: Tokyo Police Club

Tonight, Canadian indie rock all-stars Tokyo Police Club’s finally  return to Buffalo. As per usual, this will be a performance that is certain not to disappoint. The band, hailing from Newmarket, Ontario is sure to bring its’ signature brand of catchy, up-tempo indie-rock to Town Ballroom. This marks their first show in Buffalo since a relatively intimate, yet extraordinary performance in January 2017. Tokyo Police club will be touring in support of their fourth album TPC, released in October 2018. On the record, which includes the singles such as “Hercules” and “New Blues,” the band breathes new life and another wave memorable hooks of into their familiar catalogue, one many of you have looked fondly upon since 2008’s breakout Elephant Shell. Tickets are available starting at $22 and can be purchased. Doors open at 7pm. Written by Mike Rakiecki

Tonight: Tokyo Police Club

One of Canada’s prized indie outfits is soon to be at our doorsteps this evening when Tokyo Police Club play the Waiting Room. Whether you love the odd drums and fuzzy bass of “Nature of the Experiment” or the general warm tenacity of Melon Collie and the Infinite Radness Pts 1 & 2, Tokyo Police Club have the musical chops to impress and entwine. Collectively, TPC is a band standing the test of time offering their listeners tasty, increasingly pop treats. Their new tendency to go pop bodes well as the band continues to write simple, loving tunes that fill your heart with joy. Supporting TPC is Charly Bliss, a sludgy, rock act from New York City. Their latest single, “Turd” (which is about denying a relentless catcaller), the group produces a somewhat grungy, 1-2-3-4 rokker. Doors start at 7pm and tickets are $23 walk-in. Edgefest 2016 (07/31/16)

Local radio station 103.3 the Edge came back this year with another stacked lineup for their annual one day festival, Edgefest.  This year, the fest took place in Canalside opposed to the outer harbor, which I’m sure was a welcome change to many. With rain in the forecast, the crowd still showed  up in huge numbers, and lucky for them, there wasn’t a drop of rain in sight all day.  With blistering sets from Detones, Joywave, Tokyo Police Club, and more, this is sure to stand up as one of Edgefest’s best showings to date.   Check out some photos from the show below, and click HERE for a full gallery The Joy Formidable Tokyo Police Club Joywave Sam Roberts Band City and Colour Deftones

Tonight: Tokyo Police Club

The day after Halloween can feel anticlimactic, especially if you’ve just spent the night partying away. Solution? Start off pie-season right, and grab tickets to see Tokyo Police Club at the Town Ballroom. Though this band is rooted in Ontario, they’ve made quite an impression on the USA (so much so that they cover the classic Miley Cyrus song, “Party in the USA”). This concert will allow you to have the best of both worlds: an irresistibly Canadian indie-rock band showcased at one of Buffalo’s most adored concert venues. Perhaps best known for their single, “Your English is Good,” this almost decade-old band will start your November off on the right foot (and might be the perfect solution to shake off the night before, if you have to!). Doors open at 7 pm, and if you need tickets, you can grab them for $24 upon arrival. Fellow Canadian act, the Arkells,[...]

City and Colour, Tokyo Police Club, & Young The Giant at Outer Harbor (7/11/14)

This year’s summer season has seen no shortage of rain. June saw the Canalside concert site become a giant mud pit after the skies opened up and down-poured on the concertgoers of Shaggy’s summer kickoff. With all the incredible acts playing outdoor shows this year in the queen city, all we can do is remain hopeful for nice weather, and that’s exactly what we got for Friday night’s show at the Outer Harbor featuring City and Colour, Young the Giant, Tokyo Police Club, and Clear Plastic Masks. The lineup was stacked, the skies were clear, the beer was flowing, and the vibes put smiles on just about every face that walked through those gates. Hailing from St. Catharines, Canadian singer-songwriter Dallas Green (who performs under clever alias City & Colour) can obviously pull a crowd, and his draw is no gimmick. His songs, often thematically centered on love and loss,[...]

Tonight: City and Colour, Young the Giant, and Tokyo Police Club

Not just everyone in the world gets to be in two wildly successful bands… But then again not everyone is Dallas Green – he’s the man with the golden voice that you hear singing in those beautiful City and Colour songs. Buffalo’s Outer Harbor series nailed it earlier this year with Vampire Weekend and Cults – tonight is poised to do the same. City and Colour is supported by alternative radio mainstays Young the Giant and the upbeat, keyboard-driven indie rock of Tokyo Police Club. This particular date at the Outer Harbor is sponsored by Alternative Buffalo 107.7 and seems to be one of the ones to appeal to a younger crowd. The show is all ages, but plenty of beer will be flowing for the 21+ crowd.
