Tonight: Terror Pigeon

OK, your Monday probably sucks so far, but tonight is another story because Sugar City is hosting a show guaranteed to make it all worth while featuring life affirming art rockers Terror Pigeon and NYC  punks White Rope. Terror Pigeon, from Nashville Tennessee, put on an amazing and deeply affecting show at Dreamland (sigh) a few years back that was generous and uplifting in a humanist, inclusive way,  so that will be especially nice. Think a more hyper Dan Deacon and you’ll get the idea. White Rope will be joining the fray to play some skull crushing, modern punk for your liberating pleasure, while NYC media artist Eric Barry Drasin will be presenting/performing a Power Point opus on how to make it big in the speed metal game. Local evil hip hop artist Medusa and beloved rap malcontent Jack Topht will be rounding out the show with their nasty beats, which[...]

Tonight: Terror Pigeon

Tonight, Buffalo’s newest arts space, Dreamland, is going to be pulsating with weirdness and wildness when local art electronica giant Lesionread and ambient rockers Humble Braggers collide with Nashville’s Terror Pigeon and Halifax Nova Scotia’s Rich Aucion. The pushing of limits will be the order of the night, with all acts on the bill being noted for their sonic adventurousness, and with Dreamland being a space with no rules. Will he be more than an audience member? Will this critique of the War On Drugs vs Mark Kozalek feud boil over? We’ll find out tonight. There’s a $5 cover and the show starts at 8pm. And here’s a salvo from Lesionread at Sleepy Hahas.[...]

Tonight: Terror Pigeon!

Terror Pigeon! and Michael Parallax are returning to Buffalo to play at Dreamland tonight. The former, originally Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt!, are signed to David Byrne’s label Luaka Bop and infamously tour all year around, churning out ecstatically charged live shows throughout North America. Sometimes referred to as a band, sometimes referred to as a performance troupe, their high jinx stage routine is difficult to characterize, encompassing plenty of props and whirling bodies with a constantly changing lineup. As far as their music goes, founding member Neil Fridd has revealed “people have called it everything from disco to semi-annoying Latin music.” “Theatrical electro-rock” might suffice as a blanket pseudo-genre however. In similar vein, synth-pop stalwart Parallax takes queues from Dan Deacon in what beatsperminute.com has called “communal hippie raves “. Opening will be local rap and electro-pop purveyors, Jack Topht and Daniel Robinson. Doors open at 7:30pm and $5 will secure your[...]
