Mother Sun – “Pizza for Days”

Have you ever had a fridge full of fresh groceries and all you can seem to do is feast on leftover pizza for days on end? Mother Sun has been there too; they’ve immortalized that strange existence in their latest jam, “Pizza for Days.” Pairing indie-slacker instrumentals with sparkly flourishes and surprisingly clever lyrics, “Pizza for Days” is a lighthearted jam we think you’ll enjoy. Rosa Ama – “Oku (Night Version)”

Digging this latest jam from Rosa Ama – the collab between Berlin-based David Harks and Belgian act Vhyce (aka Vicente Milioto da Palma). “Oku” is an absolute house banger with an inescapable piano groove and mysterious vocals/lyrics. This one was tailor-made for nighttime, summery drives (hence, the “night version” affix). Either way, as a rhythmic club banger or as the soundtrack for your evening commute, we think you’ll like “Oku.” Check it out below and if you’re feeling it, swing by Rosa Ama’s Spotify. Widowspeak – “Money”

We’re all tired of the endless capitalist grind, right? Brooklyn duo Widowspeak is too, and they’ve eloquently expressed their frustrations in their latest video for “Money.” Beyond the vintage video footage and vaguely nostalgic imagery, the song is built around a tight drum groove, delicate vocals, and a spiraling guitar twinkle. This is one of those songs that gently builds and builds into a dreamy finish that simmers and shimmers rather than explodes – check it out below. Like what you hear? “Money” will be on Plum, Widowspeak’s upcoming LP, due out in August. Check it out now on Bandcamp.

Remington Super 60 – “Still Near”

“Still Near” is a perfect chill-out song, perfect for lounging around on those impossibly sunny summer days. Remington Super 60 is a Norwegian trio who specialize in light and airy indie pop songs. “Near” is a simple but meandering number, pairing a bouncy bassline with cosmic guitar jangle and pencil-thin organ atmospherics. Fans of Still Corners, Beach House, or Alvvays are going to love this – check it out below or swing by their Bandcamp for more. Cafe Superstar Recordings · Remington super 60 – Still near

Hollow Graves – “Tequila Sunrise”

Liking this one from Toronto-based quintet Hollow Graves. “Tequila Sunrise” is a dark, but sunny indie rocker that touches on both alcoholism and keeping a relationship from falling apart. Either way, we love how this one sounds as if Interpol and The Strokes had a beloved only child. Check out “Tequila Sunrise” below – if you dig it, add it to your Spotify playlist. French Mouth – “Paper Tiger”

LA quartet French Mouth have channeled all of their unbridled anger into their latest offering, “Paper Tiger.” Full of discordant riffs, noisy background ambiance, and scathing lyrics, “Tiger” feels refreshingly raucous in a world where our music’s edges are increasingly smoothed-out. If you like your jams loud, dirty, and urgent, we think “Tiger” will be right up your alley. Check it out below or swing by their Bandcamp to support. French Mouth · Paper Tiger

Curves – “Stallone”

Can’t go wrong with that mid-90s Casio aesthetic, and Curves is certainly leaning into it on their new jam, “Stallone.” Don’t let the lo-fi video and cable-access-television-karaoke flavor fool you (we assure you, it’s intentional); actually, “Stallone” is an impeccably-crafted indie pop song full of subtle synthy swagger and just the right amount of bedroom production value. Check out the video below, it’s a good time. Curves is on Spotify too – be sure to add them to your newest playlist.

Wing Defence – “Relocate”

There’s just something about “Relocate,” the latest jam from Adelaide duo Wing Defence… Maybe its the big crunchy guitars; maybe it’s the swagger of their idgaf anymore attitude; or maybe it’s the sing-along-worthy chant of “must be lonely being you” being hammered into our heads… Any way you spin it, we think this one’s really catchy – fans of Speedy Ortiz, Hole, or Charly Bliss are gonna dig this. Once you’ve watched the video, head over to Spotify and add “Relocate” to your playlist.

Pillow Queens – “Handsome Wife”

Irish quartet Pillow Queens have created something special here on their latest jam, “Handsome Wife.” The song feels like a wall of emotion and sound – an equal mix of modern indie rock, 90s grunge sentiment, and vocals that beg for belt-it-out sing alongs. What’s more, in this era of social distance, this video captures a myriad of intimate moments between regular people in love. It’s a combination that left us reeling and yearning for more… But between the big tasty riffs and impassioned vocals, what more could you really ask for? Check out the vid for “Handsome Wife” below. Keep your eyes peeled for Pillow Queens’ debut album, In Waiting, due out this September.

Jess Chalker – “West Hollywood”

“West Hollywood” is our latest indie-pop obsession, straight from the London-based, Australian-born artist Jess Chalker. Hands down, “Hollywood” has a monster chorus; it’s one of those super-infectious earworms that is bound to be drilled into your head all day. The song is understated but driven, filled with twinkly guitars, atmospheric synths, and a bouncing bassline. Check it out via the widget below and then swing by Spotify to peep Jess’ entire discography. Jess Chalker · West Hollywood

Hannah Lee Thompson – “Danny”

Here’s a sweet and somber one from Baltimore singer/songwriter Hannah Lee Thompson. “Danny” is a slow, chorus-less crescendo carried by Thompson’s endearing vocals that she layers thick with emotions, predominantly pain. “Danny’s” instrumental backing is equally pained, full of nuance and dynamics, all the while sounding barely-held-together. Fans of Big Thief, Hop Along, or Soccer Mommy are gonna love Thompson – check out her Bandcamp below or add this one to your introspective Spotify playlist. Danny by Hannah Lee Thompson

Sleepy Gonzales – “Sally on the Avenue”

Big shoegazy vibes coming out of Canadian act Sleepy Gonzales – this Surrey BC quartet lays it on thick in “Sally on the Avenue.” For five minutes and 34 seconds of pure bliss, gigantic tape-aged guitar solos compliment gauzy vocals and big hazy atmospherics. Fans of dreamy bands like Slowdive or Beach House will dig this, but this one is so nuanced, it’s best just to hear for yourself. Check it out below or swing by Bandcamp for a more comprehensive discography. Light Organ · Sleepy Gonzales – Sally on the Avenue

Moscow Apartment – “New Girl”

We think you should check out this fun little ditty from Toronto duo Moscow Apartment. Full of whoa-oh vocal hooks and some not-so-subtle 90s energy, “New Girl” is a minimalist indie rocker that would appeal to fans of Liz Phair, Courtney Barnett, or Modern Baseball. This one is sunny but with the perfect hint of sadness. If you like what you hear, check them out on Spotify too. Hidden Pony · Moscow Apartment – New Girl

Mashmellow – “Heaven is You”

Moscow duo Mashmellow know how to write a dreamy pop song, as evidenced by their latest jam, “Heaven is You.” Having bonded over a love for 90s dream pop, Masha Shurygina and Egor Berdnikov got together to try their hand at crafting sunny, melodic tunes. This lighthearted and jangly song would be perfect for fans of The Sundays, The Cure, or Metric. Check it out below and keep an eye out for their upcoming EP, out July 1. Mashmellow · Heaven Is You

Zola Blood – “Only You”

The East Londoners in Zola Blood just put out “Only You” and we’ve been jamming on it a bunch lately. There’s a reason this quartet has amassed over 50 million streams – “Only You” feels like a perfectly-crafted slice of atmospheric electronica, pairing gentle arpeggios and dark vibes with a subtle vocal treatment. If you like what you hear, check out their debut album, Infinite Games, and follow them on IG.
