CHILDCARE – “The Smell of Souchong”

We’re digging this latest jam from London indie rockers CHILDCARE. “The Smell of Souchong” brings the same sort of intensity as Arctic Monkeys or Spoon with a touch of nuance. Unique “uhns” and “yayayayayas” pepper this track throughout – it always seems as if frontman Ed Cares has something unique up his sleeve. Listen for yourself via the widget below.

isle&fever – “Room To Breathe”

Mmmm, we’re digging “Room To Breathe,” a frantic (but dance-able) jam from Californian electro-pop duo isle&fever. Pairing a bell-tone synth line with urgent drumming and distant audio samples, “Room To Breathe” is sure to get you amped up and vibing no matter what time of day. Put this one on in the AM to get your day off right via Spotify.

Nick County – “If You Still Love Me”

“If You Still Love Me” is one of those songs full of inherent longing… We think Nick County nailed it on his particular brand of alt-country tinged bedroom pop. “If You Still Love Me” smarts of The Killers meets Mac Demarco in a good way – “If You Still Love Me then you gotta let me know” over a perfect chord progression should be replaying through your head all day. Check out the YouTube vid below.

Antoine Diligent – “Get In On It”

We think you should listen to this new jam from LA-based solo act, Antoine Diligent. You might recognize frontman Anthony Polcino from his Epic Records act, Low vs. Diamond, but we’re currently jazzed on his latest output. “Get In On It” pairs a bumping bassline with tight indie rock hooks. Fleshed out with psychedelic synths and sharp guitar flares, “Get In On It” should appeal to fans of The Strokes or The 1975. Check it out below.

Odd Relics – “Matrimony”

“Matrimony” is a spacy and ethereal take on electropop from Florida project Odd Relics. You might also recognize Odd Relics as Brian Squillace of Sub Pop act Yuno and also half of indie-pop duo LANNDS. This time around though, we’re highlighting his solo work – full of strong and memorable vocal hooks and the perfect amount of atmosphere, we think “Matrimony” would make a great addition to your Spotify playlist.

Husbands – “Mexico”

Husbands is a shimmery indie-pop duo whose “Mexico” caught our ears. Inspired by a dream house sitting opportunity in Costa Rica, “Mexico” approaches themes of disillusionment after returning to the 9 to 5 grind, and finds the duo yearning to drop their responsibilities and move to Mexico. They do this, of course, atop catchy and swirly indie-pop. Check it out via the widget below and add it to your Spotify playlist. Mexico by Husbands

Sons of Luther Releases New Batch of Singles

Western New York rockers Sons of Luther just dropped the single: “In A Cult,” the second of several they will be releasing every Friday for the next six weeks. The interesting concept will be sure to string us along through the end of summer while it transitions us into Autumn bliss. The track gets off to a quick starts, as dueling guitar and synth leads immediately catch your ear. The sound is akin to The Killers or Kings of Leon. Then, just as quickly as it starts, the mood changes, much like summer does into fall, as Werner draws you in with his sultry voice which is accompanied with twinkly guitars and soft pads. The track resumes it’s pop-rock sensibilities as you are reminded that “Anything is possible, if nothing is impossible.” The highlight of this song has to be the bridge, where the babes draws you in with a groovy[...]

Roger Bryan and the Orphans – Keep You in Mind

Veteran americana indie rock outfit Roger Bryan and the Orphans recently released their new record Keep You in Mind. The quartet’s first release since 2017’s 9er EP, Keep You in Mind is quite simply a gorgeous record that further cements Bryan’s status as one of the most talented songwriters in Buffalo’s music scene. Bryan’s deep vocals have an extraordinary ability to feel brooding, exuberant, wistful, or contemplative as each song progresses. The title track, which kicks off the album does a nice job of setting the tone, with an upbeat sound and a thoroughly catchy hook. I must also make special note of the standout lead guitar work on this record by Bryan’s fellow Harvestsum alum David Calos. Another fabulous track is the blistering “Faster Than Forward” which almost begs to be played with the windows down. “Roll It” shows a slower side of the band, with mournful pedal steel underscoring[...]

Raised By Dinosaurs – “The Void Is Me Devoid of You (feat. Enlia)”

South American dream pop act Raised By Dinosaurs caught our attention with the woozy indie pop of “The Void is Me Devoid of You.” Completed by a beautiful vocal presence, “Void” is a four-minute slow-burner full of lyrical hooks; round, punchy basslines; and a whole lot of hazy atmosphere. Fans of Slowdive, Turnover, or Lush will dig this one – check it out below and then add it to your Spotify playlist.

Lauren Faith – “Jheeze (Sam Wills Remix)”

London artist Lauren Faith teamed up with Sam Wills for this fantastic remix of her latest jam, “Jheeze.” Mixing elements of 90s r&b with an undeniable bass throb and a tinge of jazz, “Jheeze” is an irresistible selection from her latest release, the Cosmic EP. Stick around to hear the hush-hush earworm of a chorus – check it out below, and if you dig it, be sure to follow Lauren on IG.

Dancing Tongues – “Shotgun”

“Shotgun” is an icy-cold blast of post-punk energy from LA act Dancing Tongues. Pairing a romantic baritone with swirly guitars and a prominent, bouncing bass, “Shotgun” checks all of the boxes that make for a great post-punk jam. Fans of Interpol, Ceremony, or Joy Division will dig this one – give “Shotgun” a spin below and get gloomy with us.

Sail By Summer – “Invisible”

Norwegian duo Sail By Summer have crafted a slow-burn gem with “Invisible.” What starts off as a simmering indie pop tune gradually blooms into a full, electronica-laced indie pop banger. “Invisible” really opens up around the 1:50 mark, where a harmonized solo comes out of nowhere and turns the song into an avalanche of dynamics. Fans of Radical Face, Death Cab for Cutie, or Bon Iver will find common ground here – check it out below.

Saint Jude – “Deaf Ears, Blind Years”

Mmmmm, dig deep into this mysterious slice of electronica from Saint Jude. Fans of Phantogram, Sylvan Esso, or Porches will enjoy this one – padded with the static fuzz of a vinyl record effect, “Deaf Ears, Blind Years” is as lo-fi bedroom chill as it gets. Saint Jude’s distinct baritone vocals certainly add to the overall hypnotic element of this song – dig into the gauzy synth work below and stay in touch via Instagram. P.S. Stick around for a subtle Alvvays nod.

EGOISM – “What Are We Doing?”

EGOISM is a hazy indie pop duo from Australia – we think you should check out their latest earworm anthem, “What Are We Doing?” Set off by a propulsive guitar riff and echo-chamber reverb, “What Are We Doing?” would work well on a playlist next to fellow reverb lovers Turnover or even melody masters like Blink-182. This one’s certainly worth a listen – check it out below and add it to your Spotify playlist. What Are We Doing? by EGOISM

Phobia Quartet – “We Could Do That Though”

Fort Lauderdale trio Phobia Quartet caught our ears with the simple but effective indie rock of “We Could Do That Though.” Full of quiet-loud choruses and singer Adam Hood’s distinct vocals, this one is a perfect jam to add to your feel-good indie rock playlist. Check out the charming black & white music vid below and then add it to your Spotify playlist.
