Tonight: The Ambulanters

Brit alternative band from Nebraska The Ambulanters drop by Milkie’s tonight to coincidentally play the release party for local psych/surf rockers Passed Out’s latest EP with David Dondero, Bold Folly, The Good Neighbors, and Passed Out, obviously. The fellas in Passed Out are back with the Aforementioned and How it Pertains to Absolutely Nothing, produced by Deadwolf’s Cody Morse and mixed by Elliot (M.A.G.S., KIN) Douglass, and lead single “Bukowski & Brautigan” is a literate and crunchy hit and run jam that you really ought to listen to right now. Please note The Ambulanters are not British in any way, but their sound is straight up British alternative, heavy on Joy Division and The Smiths, which is mighty tasty filtered through the band’s unassuming Midwestern lens.  Also hailing from the Midwest, Minneapolis songwriter David Dondero is in town in support of his latest album Inside The Cat’s Eye, while additional local support will[...]

Tonight: (New England) Patriots

Kickstart your weekend with a showcase stacked with weirdo punk rock at Milkie’s tonight. Boston noise rockers, (New England) Patriots, will be taking you, or forcing you, on a sonic adventure in the headlining spot. The band features loud, strange, almost psychedelic sounding vocals, comparable to Ty Segall, along with an insane noise rock edge. Filling the local spots on the bill will be similar sounding local punks Alpha Hopper, the mellowed out Wax Mice, and Toppus Bottomus. The show starts at 9pm and tickets are only $4. At that price, there’s no reason NOT to go. Tonight: Sugar City’s Soul Night

With the recent revival of Sugar City’s new space on Niagara St., things are up and running again for the do-it-yourself Buffalo group. Tonight, they invite you to shake up your hips and let loose to the tunes of the soul movement. Talk with your groove and speak with your inner funk. Kicking off the night is Handsome Dan, followed suit by a crew of individuals who will surely bring the tempting, soothing sounds all evening long: DJ Press, DJ SALINGER, Boss Matto, and Czubie. To encourage safety, they’re granting free admission to bikers who come down wearing their helmets. Get buckled up and fly down to Milkie’s so your toes can stretch and knees get a little freaky. Use 5 charms to get in the door. This event is also 18+.  Now do yourself a favor and enjoy this live Marvin Gaye song!
