KOPPS Premiere Music Video for Single “Dumb”

Yesterday morning, Joywave BFFs, KOPPS, saw the music video for the electropop quartet’s new single, “Dumb,” premiere via All Things Go. The song has passed one million listens on Spotify so a video was most certainly in order. The Cultco Music presented clip, which was directed by Joywave guitarist Joseph Morinelli, finds a female runner becoming quite nauseous after listening to what I would assume is pretty unfavorable music. Even KOPPS’ own record doesn’t seem to help settle her stomach. KOPPS will be back in Buffalo later this month, opening for Priory at Waiting Room on May 18th, and perhaps maybe they’ll find themselves back at some point this summer. In the mean time, watch the clip for “Dumb” below.

KOPPS Debuts New Single, “Dumb”

It’s been a minute since we’ve last heard from Rochester-based electro-pop quartet, KOPPS, although they have been sharing the radio waves (specifically the infectious scat from lead singer Patricia Petrone) with Rochester breakout act, JOYWAVE, with the 2014 breakout single of the 2013 single “Tongues.” If you have been following KOPPS on social media, then you should not be surprised to find a new single debuting this morning. Titled “Dumb,” the track is a brief, 90’s club banger with hushed paranoid backing vocals from co-member Kyle O’Hara. The single is currently streaming via Soundcloud below.

JOYWAVE – “Tongues” (Giorgio Moroder Remix)

JOYWAVE’s meteoric rise just keeps going, and now it’s getting kind of weird. Now the Rochester NY indie electronica outfit, fresh off their invasion of Brooklyn’s Rough Trade Records, is slated to appear on Giorgio Moroder’s 2015 comeback album 74 Is The New 24. The Italian producer, who is best known for his collaborations with Donna Summer and last seen on Daft Punk’s 2013 blockbuster Random Access Memories, has remixed JW’s runaway hit “Tongues” (featuring another Rochester favorite KOPPS, also back from storming Brooklyn) into something darker and old world gothic. 74 Is The New 24 hits stores in January. Joywave and Kopps meanwhile are everywhere…

JOYWAVE Premieres Video For “Tongues”

In April 2013, all-around WNY favorite electro-pop act, JOYWAVE, released the incredibly catchy single “Tongues” featuring a scatted sample Patricia Patrone of KOPPS (both buffaBLOG party artists I might add).  In between locking up their summer on the festival circuit and two opening gigs for the Killers, the band got around to dropping the video for the single, which at the time of this writing, is sitting pretty on the Billboard’s Top 50 Dance Club songs. Dubbed the number one song out of Rochester in 2013 on our top ten count down, “Tongues” has made waves across the blogosphere and eventually demanded the attention of satellite and commercial radio. Watch the boys shoot clothes on naked people below. Oh yeah, probably NSFW unless you have a chill boss.
