Roye Trout – “Dreamers”

Roye Trout pulled the proverbial rabbit out of the hat with “Dreamers,” off of his Our Hell EP. The singer/songwriter from Windsor, ON is busy, as he is a member of three other bands (Eraserhead, No Hands, and Lychi)… Yet he still found time to give us a whole EP, and most recently a new music video, for “Dreamers,” directed by Garett Mckelvie. I must say, I never would have thought a warm candle-lit setting combined with a cold rainy window could compliment each other so well. See for yourself! Stream it on Spotify and Apple Music

Tonight: Dreamers

Tonight, The Studio at Waiting Room plays host to touring Brooklyn-based band, Dreamers, as part of their nationwide tour in support of their forthcoming album set to be released in 2016. The band’s name might ring a bell as they were in town last September in support of Atlas Genius. If you weren’t at the show (or late), then expect Dreamers’ sound to be a mix between poppy garage-rock, surfy hooks, and gritty 70’s retro vibes. Fans of The 1975, Broncho, or even Muse would be into Dreamers. Also on the bill are locals Darling Harbor, Daniel Robinson, and No Vacancy. Doors open at 6pm with a $10 cover. Dreamers – “My Little Match”

No thanks to our current spooky season, I have been on a major found footage kick as of late with films like Afflicted, Wolf Creek, and in particular, the V/H/S series. The stories within a story, sort-of-anthology horror films have featured some truly disturbing video tapes of found footage hysteria, ranging alien abductions to zombie mountain bikers to the most fucked up cult I have ever seen. With a genre that is becoming increasingly played out, the films (a third was just released) have been a fun, and genuinely scary, watch. So I was happy to find the V/H/S inspired music video from surfy-grunge trio, Dreamers, in our inbox this morning. “My Little Match” is full of grainy clips of murders and other unexplained occurrences, plus a pretty clever use of a TV remote in the very V/H/S-type twist to finish.
