Day 1: DJ Pizza Pizza

Why do the 12 Days of Christmas start AFTER Christmas? Who wants to listen to holiday tunes after you open your gifts and the tree is becoming increasingly more pathetic looking? Here at the blog, we like to start our count down leading up to the big day, so from now until the 25th, we will be presenting you an original or standard holiday tune from the WNY area. For Day 1 of our countdown, our favorite pizza loving DJ, Yung Zza, delivers his own little Christmas miracle with “I Have To Make A Shitty Christmas Song,” which samples holiday standards like “Jingle Bells” and “God Rest You Merry Gentlemen.” You can listen below. The house DJ for our annual holiday party this coming Saturday, December 20th, at Duke’s, Zza may have a couple extra treats on hand so don’t miss it.

Just Announced: buffaBLOG Holiday Party

And just like that, the holidays have arrived. After the pummeling South Buffalo and the south towns took from #snowvember last week, and the unfortunate flooding that comes from 80 inches of snow getting hit with 60 degree weather, people could use a little pick me up around here, and for some, the holiday season could not have come at a better time So, as things start to get back to normal in the Buffalo area,  we are happy to announce the latest edition of our buffaBLOG Holiday Party. This time around, our eclectic cast of WNY acts will include Radarada, Newish Star, Pleistocene, The Slums, and DJ Pizza Pizza, all ready to help ring in the holiday spirit on Allen Street. The party will go down at our holiday home base of Duke’s on Saturday, December 20th. Music will kick off at 10pm and run all night long. Cover[...]

DJ Pizza Pizza Serves Up “Slice 34”

Quickly becoming one of our favorite Buffalo personalities, DJ Pizza Pizza has released his 34th song this morning, aptly titled “Slice 34.” Yung Zza is not only a cut and splicer, but produces organic instrumental tracks a la Madlib or Flying Lotus. “Slice 34” turns it down a bit and seems more reflective in nature rather than previous DJ Pizza Pizza releases, which pair well with slinging shots at 2am in Allentown and saying “SWERVE” on repeat. Check it out below.

Tonight: Heavy Rotation – Back to School Dance

After a successful first run for our Herd Fest this past June, we wanted to lay low for a bit. As fun as Herd was, it was an exhausting few months of planning and we wanted to take a little breather from parties and recharge our batteries. So much for that. For our next show, we thought we would resurrect our Heavy Rotation dance party series and ring in the start of the fall semester with a back to school dance throw down. Tonight at Hardware, the front and back rooms will be taken over by some of the blog’s favorite local DJs. If you missed any of the spotlights during the week, take a moment to catch up: Rick Jameson DJ Pizza Pizza TEENWOLF Chauncey Tails Music will kick off this evening at 11pm with Jameson, aka Spooky Sean of Spooky Business, while the back room will jump off[...]

Yung Zza Remixes “The Shout Song”

That breeze you felt over the greater Buffalo area yesterday was the massive sigh of relief coming from Bills fans as the team had agreed, in principle, to be sold to Buffalo Sabres owners Kim and Terry Pegula. When owner Ralph C. Wilson Jr. passed away this spring, every Buffalonian’s fears of the Bills leaving town, especially once that meddling Bon Jovi got involved, were nearly met, but thanks to the Pegula family, the Bills will remain in Buffalo for a very long time, and maybe even win a couple more games. What does this have to do with music? Not much really, but DJ Pizza Pizza, who just so happens to be playing our Heavy Rotation: Back to School Dance on Friday, released a new remix version of the the Bills “Shout Song” on the 6th to ring in the new football season. While the song has be remixed[...]

Just Announced: Heavy Rotation – Back To School Dance

The fall semester is quickly approaching, which means to many of us (not me, I am sadly 30), summer is nearing its inevitable end. We thought we could help ease the pain of returning to the books by finally having our second go-around of our Heavy Rotation dance party series. We debuted our first installment last fall as part of the Elmwood Village’s annual Mass Appeal event at the Pierce Arrow, and for this time around, we are taking over the back room of Hardware to showcase some of our favorite area DJs with our very own back-to-school dance. On Friday, September 12th, join us as Chauncey Tails, DJ Pizza Pizza, and Teenwolf will man the back while Rick Jameson (Spooky Sean of Spooky Business) will loosen everyone up as he gets things going in the front room. Heavy Rotation: Back To School Dance is a 21+ event. Music kicks[...]
