Tonight: BAMBARA

Electric Avenue is hosting an eclectic, heady, and dark lineup of noise rock tonight headlined by Athens GA by way of Brooklyn death rockers BAMBARA that could be exactly what you need. Droning, rootsy like a deranged preacher, and vaguely scary in an apocalyptic sort of way, BAMBARA is a bleak storm that shreds on a variety of levels good for the soul if you’re into that sort of thing, which we are. Opening the show will be local doom and gloom punks Alpha Hopper, punk country nihilists Be Locus Or Alone, and new wave newbies Cyber Bullies, playing just their second show. Doors open at 9pm and cover is $7.

Tonight: Jouska

Buffalo is in store for a solid Tuesday night treat tonight.  Albany/Philly based alternative/emo act Jouska returns to Buffalo, this time with a brand new EP under their belt. From Elson to Emmett was released just a couple weeks ago on Tiny Engines Records, and it features four brand new tracks.  Three local acts are also on the bill tonight, including slowcore duo Award Show, ambient folk outfit Be Locust or Alone, and an alt/emo four piece, Honey. Sugar City houses tonight’s show, located at 1239 Niagara Street.  The cover is only $5, and doors are set to open at 7pm.  Keep in mind that Sugar City is a drug/alcohol free space.

Tonight: Bong Wish

Lovers of the tripped out, fantastical British folk music that fired up Led Zeppelin and Donovan simply have to get to Deep Space 8 tonight to check out Bong Wish, just in from the magical woods of ancient Massachusetts to play us some songs from their delightful eponymous debut EP. Rounding out your magical evening will be a stacked bill featuring local art blues rockers be locust or alone, true soldiers of love and good vibrations Welks Mice, and the live debut of lo-fi psych rocker The Midnight Vein (aka John Toohill), who’ll also be celebrating the release of his eponymous debut tonight, as if that wasn’t enough for you already. It’s a pay what you will situation, with a minimum donation of $5 to cover Bong Wish’s gas money, so be cool. Doors open at 7:30pm and music at 8:30pm.

Tonight: Pile

Tonight the 9th Ward will be playing host to Boston’s Pile, touring on the heels of their latest LP,  A Hairshirt of Purpose. Pile are never ones to disappoint and their new record is more of the same high octane ferocity. They’re one of those special kinds of groups, the kind that makes their name on being superb live performers. They’re the band that your friend will see live and then all they’ll talk about for the next few weeks is how crazy the show was.  Pile also don’t neatly fit into any single classification and always keep things exhilarating. Alongside with Pile are a couple of local stalwarts. Be Locust or Alone and freak pop/indie rockers, Hot Tip. Doors are at 8pm, $13 day of show.

Tonight: Night Slaves Cassette Release

Tonight, local industrial-electronica duo, Night Slaves will be celebrating the release of their second tape, Night Slaves II, at Mohawk Place. The duo has dark and complex beats, with David Kane’s complex compositions accented by singer Johnny Toohill’s chant-singing. Also on the bill is avant garde project Cages, stripped down Be Locust or Alone, and harsh noise act Flesh Trade. Doors are at 8pm with a $5 cover. Bring some extra cash to pick up the limited edition tapes, as there are only a hundred in print.
