Must See Shows (11.20.24-11.26.24)

Thursday, November 21st @ 8pm
Delicious Monsters @ Area 54 / Amy’s Place
Punk-y new wave quartet Delicious Monsters are playing a cozy storefront gig this Thursday evening. Based out of Milwaukee, the band is in the midst of an east coast jaunt, dubbed the “Jazz Shrimp Payphones Kiss Collect Clear Stars Expedition” Tour. Delicious Monster’s sound is like a driving B-52s vibes with a dab of D.C. post-punk, which should make this a fun one. Joining the bill will be local horror punks BLACK & WHITE CAT/ BLACK & WHITE CAKE who will be playing in support of their new self-titled album, as well as Escape Pod. Ten buckeroos.

Florist @ 9th Ward
Gentle indie folk act Florist will be playing a Bills-free Sunday evening at the 9th Ward on Sunday. Lead by singer/songwriter Emily Sprague, Florist’s sound is very earnest and pretty and has been evolving the project for over a decade. Fans of Big Thief, Soccer Mommy, or Weyes Blood would not want to miss this.
Joining the bill will be NYC’s Allegra Krieger, who is touring in support of their new album Art of the Unseen Infinity Machine, which came out this past September via Double Double Whammy Records. $20 at the door.
Tuesday, November 26th @ 7pm
Real Friends @ Town Ballroom
Illinois pop punk / emo act Real Friends hits the Theatre District on Tuesday. Since forming in 2010, the band has steadily rose to be big dawgs in the post Warped Tour landscape, sharing the stage with everyone with name recognition in the genre. Real Friends is touring in support of their new album Blue Hour, which came out this past October. If you’re into Knuckle Puck, Hot Mulligan, or Four Year Strong, then you probably already know about this show and I’m just preaching to the choir.
The lineup is a certified banger™ with Can’t Swim, Carly Cosgrove and Slow Joy setting the tone for what undoubtedly will be a night full of gang choruses and good times. $38.27 at the door, bring change.
