General Assembly – “Bad Habit”
I can see fellow buffaBLOGger Chris Miller giving a salute and saying “General Assembly!” a la Ted and Robin from HIMYM right now. Too dated of a reference? We’re sorry, but not that sorry. Just a bad habit.
WHAT A SEGUE. General Assembly just released a song called “Bad Habit” and it’s unironically awesome. Big, cool basslines; effortless vocals; and a dark-but-catchy post-punkish vibe are to be found here. What’s most surprising is that GA mastermind Ryan David Roberts was a founding member of gold-selling pop-punk act Cartel. Cool for sure, but GA is even cooler. It exists at the apex of angular and melodic… and to us, those are the best songs. Stick around for the random cacophony he tosses in throughout – it’s one-of-a-kind.
