Tory Lanez at the Town Ballroom (12/4/16)

Canadian hip hop artist, Tory Lanez, packed a sold out Town Ballroom for an electric show on Sunday.  Lanez kept the crowd on their feet throughout the whole show,  playing some old songs, as well as tracks off of his major label debut, I Told You So.   His set was nothing short of insanity from start to finish. We were also able to snag some pictures of Tory’s tour mate Jacquees as well, which you can check out below.  For more photos, click HERE for a full gallery. Jacquees Tory Lanez

AJJ at the Studio at Waiting Room (11/05/16)

Earlier this month,  Andrew Jackson Jihad played their first show in Buffalo since their name change, and it was packed.  On tour in support of their new album, The Bible 2, the folk punk veterans played a career spanning set to a full house at the Studio at Waiting Room.   They split the set between a full band set and a stripped down two piece set, performing cuts from their new album, among many others.  AJJ brought along Chris Farren and Diners as openers, and they both killed it as well.  Check out some photos from the show below, and click HERE for a full gallery. Touche Amore at the Waiting Room (10/17/16)

Have you ever went to a show and been so blown away by an opener that the rest of the show just feels like a blur?  The band that kicked this show off, Culture Abuse, did just that.  One of the most rocking bands I have seen in a VERY long time.  They’re super hard to describe, but damn, you just gotta give them a listen.  Fear not though, Tiny Moving Parts and Touche Amore both still totally killed it.  For Touche Amore’s first show back in Buffalo in two or three years, what seems like every die hard TA fan in Buffalo took to the front of the stage for a set full of scream-alongs and crowd surfing.  Check out some shots from the night below, and click HERE for a full gallery. The Wonder Years at Anthology in Rochester (10/16/16)

This past Sunday, Anthology was packed to the brim for a sold out show featuring some of the biggest active pop punk bands.  Headlined by The Wonder Years, the stacked lineup also featured Seaway, Moose Blood, Knuckle Puck, and Real Friends.  The show was absolutely wild from start to finish, with audience participation through the roof.  Check out some photos from the insane night below, and click HERE for a full gallery. Metric at the Town Ballroom (9/23/16)

Metric is no stranger to Buffalo. Hailing from Toronto, the indie pop act has played plenty of shows in our area, but none quite as special as the show this past Friday.  Following a venue change from Artpark in Lewiston, the band played a rare and intimate club show at the Town Ballroom.  The band brought their full stage production with them as well, adding their own lighting rig to the mix, making the show that much more special.  Local act, Humble Braggers, had the opportunity to open up the show as well, and they killed it.  Check out some shots from the night below, and click HERE for a full gallery. Every Time I Die at the Studio at Waiting Room (9/17/16)

If you’re from Buffalo and haven’t at least heard of Every Time I Die, there’s something wrong with you. The five piece has built a huge following in Buffalo and beyond over the years, but their hometown shows are always something special, usually on the brink of pure insanity. On September 23rd, the band will be releasing their eighth studio album, Low Teens, and the band had a surprise in store for their fans last Saturday.  Originally planned as a listening party of the new album, the group came together last minute to treat Buffalo to something special, a performance of their new record front to back, before anyone else in the world had heard it, along with an encore with some of the classics. Luckily, blog photographer, Brendan O’Connor, was able to make it in with his camera and capture some of the madness that is a hometown Every[...]

Basement at the Studio at Waiting Room (9/09/16)

This past Friday, UK pop punk act Basement made their way back to Buffalo for an incredible show the Connecticut 4 piece Ovlov, and Brooklyn indie act Eskimeaux. This was Basement’s first time back in Buffalo since they played the old Sugar City, on their first ever US tour.  Buffalo showed them a great time, and every band that played was stellar.  Check out some shots from the night below, and click here for a full gallery. Motion City Soundtrack at the Town Ballroom (08/01/16)

Monday night, Motion City Soundtrack bid farewell to Buffalo on their final tour.   The band’s final tour spans the United States, and we were lucky enough to get a stop at the Town Ballroom to send them off right.  They played a career spanning set list containing all the hits and even a request or two.  What made this show extra special was the opening acts MCS brought along on the tour, Rozwell Kid and A Great Big Pile of Leaves, who both played totally incredible sets.  While it sucks to see them go, the show served as a perfect Buffalo sendoff.   Check out our photos from the night below, and click HERE for a full gallery. Edgefest 2016 (07/31/16)

Local radio station 103.3 the Edge came back this year with another stacked lineup for their annual one day festival, Edgefest.  This year, the fest took place in Canalside opposed to the outer harbor, which I’m sure was a welcome change to many. With rain in the forecast, the crowd still showed  up in huge numbers, and lucky for them, there wasn’t a drop of rain in sight all day.  With blistering sets from Detones, Joywave, Tokyo Police Club, and more, this is sure to stand up as one of Edgefest’s best showings to date.   Check out some photos from the show below, and click HERE for a full gallery The Joy Formidable Tokyo Police Club Joywave Sam Roberts Band City and Colour Deftones

Kerfuffle at Canalside (7/23/16)

This past weekend, we sent our trusty contributing photographer Mike Sansano for a long day documenting the madness that was this year’s Kerfuffle. The event, sponsored by Alternative Buffalo, featured performances by The Moth & The Flame, Coleman Hell, PVRIS, Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear, New Politics, The Strumbellas, Bloc Party, Violent Femmes, and AWOLNATION. In short, it was a loaded day at the Waterfront. Check out Sansano’s pictures below. Pitchfork Music Festival: Sunday

While I’m sad to see it go, Pitchfork Music Festival was without a doubt one of my favorite music festival experiences of all time.  There wasn’t a band all weekend that I was disappointed by, and I was blown away by multiple bands I hadn’t heard before. With a forecast filled with rain and thunderstorms almost all weekend, somehow the rain held off, making it near perfect. Basically, for the next year, you’ll find me in my room listening to Broken Social Scene counting down the days until next year’s festival. Saturday featured performances by Porhces, Kamsi Washington, FKA Twigs, and many more.  Check out some of the photos below, and if you want to see more than just 4 or 5 shots of each band, click HERE for a full gallery. Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds @ Artpark (7/6/16)

Last Wednesday Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds made a stop in at Lewiston’s famed summertime mecca, Artpark. Gallagher, formerly of Oasis, brought his giant Brit-rock sounds to a crowd of thousands. We sent contributing buffaBLOG photographer Ashley Schaffert to snap some magic.
