M.A.G.S. @ Rec Room

 

Arguably one of the biggest Buffalo musical exports in the past decade, M.A.G.S., returns to his home turf on Wednesday for mid week rager on Chippewa. M.A.G.S. is the moniker for multi-instrumentalist/songwriter Elliott Douglas, who has nurturing the project since 2014 and has achieved numerous accolades under the flag. Pre-pandemic, Douglas relocated to the West Coast, where M.A.G.S. really took off, sparking numerous sold out shows, multiple national tours, and even catching the attention of Polyvinyl Records, who invited Douglas to cover one of American Football’s classics on their 25th anniversary tribute album.

 

If you’re a longtime reader of the blog, we’ve been covering Douglas’ evolution as an artist, going back to the days of DIY shows with the Malones or even short-lived projects like Marie Antionette. Regardless of the banner, Douglas has consistently pumped out high quality, heart-on-your-sleeve content that has and will always turn heads. Joining the bill will haunting folk songwriter Covey. $22.61 cover.

Quaker Gun Club @ Milkies

 

Local indie quintet Quaker Gun Club arises from hibernation with their first show of 2025 this Saturday. The band has emerged as quality desert rock act with elements of psych and indie that have been gripping the local scene for the better part of three years. Joining the bill will be indiemo heavy hitters West Ferry and newcomer post-punk project Photosound. Doors are at 8pm with a $12 cover.

 


Sunday, May 11th @ 7pm

Laveda @ the Cave

 

Laveda makes their annual pilgrimage to Buffalo on Sunday. Since rising onto the Capital District’s indie scene in the late 2010s, the band has consistently played Buffalo almost annually, providing the Queen City with a slice of the band’s dreamy, shoegaze sound that has evoked critical praise with the band’s high quality repertoire. Since then, the band has relocated to Brooklyn and have expanded their footprint on the indie scene. If you are a fan of Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, or Beach House, then head to Black Rock this Sunday. $15 cover and no reference to an opener as of deadline.
