Despondent – “Do You Like It?”

Despondent’s brand of lo-fi emo is strangely addictive – their latest offering, “Do You Like It?” is great evidence of their infectious sincerity. Jangly, about-to-fall-apart guitar noise and a warm, analog-sounding mix provides the backbone for singer Nora Schlang’s heartfelt vocal delivery. Reminiscent of acts like Big Thief or Phoebe Bridgers, Despondent brings about their own brand of heart-on-your-sleeve indie rock with an endearing DIY feel to their songs.
